Chapter 71 - Capture the Banner (1) - 69

A/N: After this chapter, most of the rest of the arc will be from another person's perspective other than the MC, or from a third person standpoint. This is to not reveal the MC's plan until the last second.

'Goddamn, it's just a rip-off of capture the flag.'

Well, I actually had this exact same thought the last time I was faced with this test, but, still, I couldn't help but think like this.

Because, it really was just capture the flag under a different name, an even worse name, mind you.

I didn't even have to listen to the rules, as I knew that the only things that were different were the fact that we were using real guns to defend and attack, some of the rules, and the fact that there were special entities in this game called "Team Captains".

Team Captains were the leaders of each group of 10, and they were the ones that would come up with the plans to lead their team.

And also, if a team's Team Captain was "eliminated", the whole team would be out of the game, the same as if the team's flag was stolen.

This added a new, unique element to the game, well, this was kinda eclipsed by the unique element of actually being able to die in this game, but, who cares about dying when you've been transmigrated at least 8 times already?

Anyways, the reason why I had worked so hard to put myself on the Minders' Watchlist, was to make it so that I would definitely be chosen as one of the Team Captains.

This meant that I would be able to be the leader of a team, and with this illusion, I could easily control the 10 children under me.

And I would be ruthless.

...

"BRRRRRRRRRRRRR."

We were currently on an airplane, as we were getting transported to the site of the test.

Staring into blank space, I thought about the unique rules of the game by creating a list in my head.

1. In the beginning, each team will be allowed 30 minutes to hide their flag, the flag then cannot be moved from that place for the remainder of the game.

2. During the initial 30 minutes, each time will have access to a drop, where, the team captain may pick one item that each person in the team receives.

3. Each team captain has a radio with which they can talk to the other team captains with.

4. As soon as a team's banner is touched by a number from another team, the team will be immediately disqualified, and will return back to the facility.

5. Any number may switch teams once in this game.

These were the 5 rules that made it different from regular "Capture the Flag", and were also the rules that made it a game worthy to be used as a test in the General Games.

And, these were also the rules that I would exploit so that I would win a perfect game.

"Two minutes until drop." Voiced a robotic voice.

Standing up, I double checked to make sure that my parachute was being worn properly.

Finding that everything was okay, I walked to the back of the plane, where the cargo bay would open, and we would all be sucked out.

"One minute until drop."

Standing there, I motioned to the rest of my team, and they took their positions next to me.

"Five seconds until drop."

"Four."

"Three."

"Two."

"One."

"Initiating drop."

I watched as the cargo door slowly opened, and jumped out when the opening was large enough for my body to fit through.

Seeing how I jumped without any fear, the others quickly followed close behind me.

"WHOOOOOOOSSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Falling through the open sky, I could only smile from the sensation of feeling the rushing wind blowing through my hair and all over my body.

Turning my body around, I looked and saw 9 other clusters also falling in the air.

Keeping in mind their positions, I directed my team towards the tallest skyscraper in the area.

You see, the chosen setting for us to play this game in, was an abandoned mega city.

We were lucky to have been dropped the closest to the tallest building, so, not wasting this opportunity, we all pulled our parachutes, and then slowly descended towards the building, maneuvering the parachutes with their rigs.

Finally, I landed softly on the rooftop, and immediately pressed the self destruct button, to clear way for the others to land too.

After we had all landed on the building, I took one moment to look at the surrounding city, before turning my focus towards the building.

Out of nowhere, in front of me, a box appeared.

Knowing what it was for, I just told the others to ignore it, before breaching the building.

Kicking open the door to the stairwell, I entered, descending a little to the first landing.

Then, using a little parkour, I jumped from wall to wall, before reaching the roof of the stairwell, and then sticking the banner into a vent there.

Crashing back down, I rolled to soften the landing.

Standing back up and dusting myself off, I pointed at 2 of my lackeys.

"Go down to the landing where the first actual floor is, and then defend this staircase with your lives."

Watching them go, I then pointed to another one.

"Stay here, find something and move it here so that you have some cover, and keep your rifle pointed at that door at all times. If someone decides to breach from the roof, shoot them down before they can do anything, even if they are from our team. Don't think, just shoot on movement."

Then, pointing at the remaining 6 people, I just told them to follow me back to the rooftop.

I finally turned to the box and opened it.

Inside, there was a screen showcasing all the items I could have gotten as my team's starting item.

But, by now, there were only "trash" items left.

"Captain, why didn't we choose one of the good items immediately once we landed? We were sure to have been the first team..."

I interrupted before he could go any further.

"Don't question me and just do your jobs, and I promise, we will win."

Seeing my overwhelming confidence, he just shut up.

Scrolling through the list, I finally found the item I was looking for.

Clicking on it, I smiled, as one of the item was given to each member on my team.
