Chapter 30 - Spiritual Beasts (1) - 29

I couldn't help but keep thinking back to what I had witnessed yesterday.

I had tried to distract myself with books on advanced theory, but my mind kept playing reruns of what I had seen that day.

The first thing that had imprinted itself in my mind was his overall demeanor. His school uniform was perfect, no creases or loose ends, his hair style was perfect, not a single stray hair could be seen on his head, his walk was perfect, no mistakes could be seen in that noble and confidant gait, and his aura was perfect, imposing as a teacher should be whilst not making anybody fear him.

Second was his teaching style, easy to understand, but at the same time, difficult to wrap your head around. The diagrams and charts that he had shown, proving his findings, were so comprehensive that their complexity couldn't seem to bother even the stupidest child. And even then, I just couldn't accept the fact that a 13 year old had somehow come up with a theory that completely changed my view of the world. It made my title of "Smartest of the Generation" seem like an absolute joke! His voice was clear, no cracks or anything, and his hands moved only the minimum amount for emphasis, contributing to the teaching. Also, there was his eyes, a deep red color that when looked in, made you believe that you were drowning in your own blood, but this didn't hide the excitement that exuded from them, making you remember that this was just a naive 13 year old that was excited about his first time teaching. (A/N: Oh boy is she ever wrong.)

Finally, there was his overall absolute brilliance. It almost seemed as if he was shining like an angel! When he first introduced himself as "Ashen" I couldn't help but let out an audible sigh at his silky voice. Furthermore the mask couldn't even hide his perfect face, although the face was more inclined towards "pretty" instead of "handsome" causing one to wonder about "his" gender. His body was well proportioned, and was tall for a 13 year old. He was extremely well sculpted and it seemed as if he had no dirtiness around him, as not a drop of sweat could be seen on his body, and as it seemed like he didn't even need to go number 1 or 2! I even thought for a second about the idea of love, but quickly rejected it, after all, I was a model student who would use these years to the fullest, retaking my spot as the "Smartest of the Generation". I couldn't get distracted no matter what!

Thinking this, I reprimanded myself before trying hard to delve into my studies again.

I woke up early this morning.

It was the day after my first lecture, an A week Tuesday, meaning that I didn't have any of my actual classes.

As a reminder, this is my basic schedule. My actual classes were Class 1: Beginners Spiritual Beast Summoning, Class 3: Magic Theory, Class 3: Portal Exploration, and Class 6: Advanced Honors Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra with Advanced Topics in Complex Analysis, Point Set Topology, Group Theory, Differential Geometry, and Magical Applications, BSBS being on "A" week Wednesdays, MaT being on "A" week Fridays, PortEx being on "B" week Wednesdays, and LinCal being on "B" week Fridays.

I also had the evening shift at the library every day from 6 to 12 and Class 3: Individual Research was pretty self explanatory.

Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5, I had to teach my double blocked class, An Introduction to Fighting Demonic Humans (3 people each day with 1 hour each), with an extra hour on Sunday for teaching the Empress. (Double blocked meaning that my class happened on both "A" and "B" weeks.)

There was also the 1 hour on Monday at the beginning of each month for the group lecture.

I also planned on waking up early every day at 5 and reading in the "special spot" for two hours, as it would help me interfere in the matters regarding Primrose's fall into despair.

After all these "necessities", I would use the rest of the time to train and plot, as some plans for the creation of a survival club were already forming in my mind.

So, overall, my days at the school would be pretty chill, except for some days when I interfered with certain matters.

Keeping these thoughts in mind, I got out of bed, washed myself up, put on my Akimitsu appearance, got into my choice clothes (the clothes that he bought in the store, the same ones as on the cover of the novel), and walked to the nearest training room.

As I wasn't wearing my mask, my monocle and weird clothes really made me stand out, but my forgetful face made it so that nobody even noticed me.

When I got into the training room, I took off my witch's hat and cloak and put them into a corner before getting into a lotus position on the ground. Whilst meditating, I slowly recited the core teachings of "The Eclipse Magician" manual.

You see, the Eclipse Magician (referring to the actual person in this sense) was originally a wandering swordsman who stumbled on a great truth, allowing him to reach enlightenment and helping him acquire his new job.

He had found the teachings as random scribbles in the tomb of an emperor of Ancient China (the classifications when talking about history will be explained in a later chapter).

Translated, the teachings were as follows:

"In the first stage, the man and his sword become interchangeable. Here, even a blade of grass can be used as a lethal weapon."

"In the next stage, the sword resides not within the hand, but in the heart. Even without a weapon, the warrior can slay his enemy from 100 paces."

"The ultimate ideal is when the sword disappears altogether, the warrior embraces all that is around him, the desire to kill is gone, only peace remains."

(A/N: Translated from the script of one of my favorite movies, "Hero", starring Jet Li.)

Hammering these lines into his heart, the Eclipse Magician had found a new path for himself, one that did not require a real sword.

Using whatever was on hand as his weapons, and as nobody could sense him, he had decimated his enemies, which namely, were the noble families, as he often stole from them just for the sake of doing so, afterwards, giving the objects to the poor like a modern day Robinhood.

Now, I, the successor of the Eclipse Magician, was trying to do the same thing myself, hammering these ideals into my heart.

After training for a few hours, I washed myself up and prepared for my first individual lessons.
