Chapter 8 - Death

Death?

"Huh? What?"

Bai Liyue arched her brows and glanced at the masked woman in red. She wanted to laugh at the woman's dark humor. Like really? Death? Who says that to someone who's already standing on the last straw of hope? But when she saw the woman's smiling face, her instincts told her that something was wrong. This masked woman had a problem and something seemed wrong with her.

From the corner of her eyes, she noticed that the guards who were supposed to protect her were missing. She had a sinking feeling in her stomach knowing that something was definitely wrong here. Where were here guards? They never left her side unless Qin Yufeng told them to do so. However, that was unlikely to happen because he would never let her be alone on her own.

"Don't look for them," the woman informed with a small chuckle. "They are already gone."

Bai Liyue stepped back from the woman, her eyes turning vigilant and sharp. "WHO ARE YOU?"

"Didn't you say that you wanted freedom from Mr. Qin? Death will give you the freedom you want!" The woman told her.

Bai Liyue didn't want to stay here with this psycho woman anymore. She was scared. She wanted to run and that's what she did. However, the masked woman was quite smart and was one step ahead of her. Grabbing her arm, the woman stopped her from running. Bai Liyue fought back but the woman was quite strong compared to her. She yelled for help but nothing happened.

Panic began to set in her mind and she tried everything to get from the woman's grip. Here, this was the time when she was desperate for her husband to come and help her or maybe the bodyguards to find and save her, but nothing. She knew no one was going to come for her help. The music inside the hall was too loud for anybody to notice anything.

"Leave me!!!" Bai Liyue screamed. "Who are you? Why are you doing this to me?"

The woman tightened her grip and sighed. "Sorry sweety," she whispered in her ear. "In life, there are some things you don't want to do, but have to do."

Bai Liyue was confused. She opened her mouth wanting to scream for help when suddenly, she felt that something was being injected into her body. Pain shot through her arm and fear flashed in her eyes. No! She did not want to die. There were so many things she needed to do. She wanted to fulfill her dreams. She wanted to become an actress. She wanted to go back to her loving family and celebrate her sister's birthday which was coming in two days. She wanted to get a divorce from Qin Yufeng.

She did not want to die...

"Please...." Bai Liyue begged. Her strength was failing her and she was feeling weak all over her body. Every part of her body was starting to go numb and she was struggling to keep her eyes open. "D-don't do this to me... I beg you... Please..... let me go... I want to live...."

For a split second, she saw pain, pity, and mercy in the woman's eyes but soon, it was all replaced by coldness. The woman looked at her without any emotion and Bai Liyue knew that was it. 'I am so sorry, sweety,' the woman mouthed to her. A single tear rolled down from the corner of Bai Liyue's eyes down to her cheeks and she smiled bitterly.

'I forgive you, Qin Yufeng' she thought in her mind. 'I hope you will live well after I am gone and fall in love with a person who can love you back just the way you want. Goodbye!'

Her teary eyes watched as the woman walked toward her. She closed her eyes waiting for the woman to push her. A small touch and she went down straight into the sea. She heard the small pop sound as her body came in contact with the water. Soon, she felt the struggle her body was making. Water was everywhere and it was very, very cold. She wanted to use her hands but everything part of her body felt so heavy and unmovable.

Her limbs were dead and her vision was going black. She tried breathing through her nose but everything was damn hard. She could see the surface as the reflected light got farther and farther away. The darkness around her made her panic as she was dragged down even more. With the last bit of strength she had, she tried to struggle.

Her chest was hurting badly and she could feel his heartbeat beating louder and louder. She desperately needed air. No luck. Her body was shutting down. Everything was starting to hurt and her chest felt like someone was stabbing her. Finally, she was calm knowing that she was not going to make it.

Maybe, this was her fate. Maybe, it was in her destiny to die tonight.

Regret flashed in her eyes knowing that she had so many things to do to achieve. Her life was like a half-written chapter, incomplete and unfinished. Many images and memories began to flash in her mind. She thought about her family, her life, her mother, her father, her little sister, and every sweet memory she could think of. At last, she thought of him. His handsome flashed in her eyes, his words echoed in her mind. Then everything went black.

Standing on the deck, the woman glanced at the bottomless dark sea. She saw with her eyes how Bai Liyue's body sank deep into the sea. Her job was done. "I didn't want to kill you but your death is going to pave a way for my life," she muttered as a flash of pain surfaced in her eyes. She took a quick look around, checked to see if everything looked proper and left the scene before the bodyguards who were gone would come back.
