Officer Nelson aimed his gun in the direction of the voice, "Who are you?"
"You've entered my home," the deep, masculine voice started. "I should be asking you that question."
"I answer to no one," Officer Nelson spat. "Especially not to cowards hiding in the darkness."
A chuckle resounded through the wind before the creature in the darkness spoke once more. "You humor me, violent human."
Officer Nelson shined his flashlight in the direction he aimed his gun, but there was nothing but a dried tree.
The voice this time came from the opposite end. "I can hear the racing hearts of your men, they're absolutely terrified, but for what? They've seen nothing."
"How did you get over there so fast and without me noticing?"
"Is that your only concern, human?"
"S-Sir," one officer started in a stutter. "The light's disappearing."
