Officer James handed her the flashlight, "Keep the light on me, please."
She pulled her body upwards and adjusted her position so she could be seated with her back resting on the tree closest to her.
"Those trees have thorns," he warned her.
Rose got comfortable against one of them regardless, "They don't hurt me anymore." Her eyes traveled his muscular upper body with a hint of lust and curiosity as she tried counting his scars. "You're not going to answer my question?"
Officer James placed the shirt on the ground, then with his feet and left hand, he tore the sturdy material into long pieces of cloth.
"I don't know how to answer your question."
Seeing his struggle with wrapping the pieces of cloth around his arm, Rose beckoned him to her side. "Come sit beside me, I can help you."
Officer James looked carefully at where he was sitting before finding a spot close enough to her. "Thank you."
