Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 - I Doubt You Were Even Expecting Me!

The two walked to Echo's room, and saw Denzel walking out. He did not notice them, but instantly vanished into a dark smoke.

Echo glanced at Hunter, "Wasn't that Denzel? What was he doing in my room?" The two entered the room. Everything was in place, nothing was taken, or moved around.

'What was Denzel doing here?' Echo thought to herself. She opened the closest, taking out a first aid kit. Sitting down, she opened the kit and took out a bandage along with some antiseptic cream. 'You got this Echo! We need to take the bullet out first! How could I forget that? How am I supposed to take it out?'

Echo sighed, as she stared back into the closet. She needed a pair of tweezers, and something to clean them. Her eyes stopped on a reflective object inside her closet. 'What was that? I am sure of something!' Standing up, she slowly staggered to the closet, moving the clothes aside. She was completely dumbfounded by what she saw. "A camera?"

Hunter jumped over the bed, making her way to Echo. "What are you talking about?" The tiger glanced at the device in the closet.

"The mole has been spying on us the whole time," Echo removed the camera from the closet, slumping back on the bed. She leaned her head on her hand, "They knew everything. Everything! And we fell right into their trap!"

"It could have been placed there today!" Hunter replied. She stepped into the closet and sniffed all around trying to track anyone's scent. "I don't get anyone's scent beside the butlers."

"It's probably because she left the dress today. Nothing on Denzel?" Echo asked. She was starting to suspect Damon's perfect best friend. He was definitely up to something, the way he even called her out to breakfast and then left her with Damon and Rose, which led to everything that was happening right now. Echo couldn't help but suspect Rose as well, 'What if Rose was working alongside Denzel. It would make sense. They could have planned all this after suspecting us. It would make a lot of sense. Rose kept us busy so that Denzel could sneak into my room, and hide the camera. Everything is falling into place right now.'

Hunter turned around, and when her gaze fell on Echo her eyes widened. "Uhm! Echo! You look pale, are you okay?"

"What?" Echo turned to Hunter. She was looking pale? What was this tiger talking about? Echo touched her wound, getting a palm full of red blood. She sighed, 'I'm supposed to be dead, but I still bleed! How ironic."

"You don't look so good! I think you should go back to the healers!" Hunter advised.

Echo had lost a lot of blood, but never before had she got pale because of it. She turned to the mirror and was horror struck. Hunter was right, her skin was so pale, and her lips had lost their rosy colour. Her eyes had bags underneath. She looked as if she would die any minute.

Laying down, Echo sighed. She had sighed so many times that day, that she had lost count. Was it even possible for the day to become worse? Her eyes became drowsy once she felt the pain from her wound intensify. What was happening to her today? Why was she in so much unbearable pain?

Trying to get rid of the pain, she curled up into a ball. When nothing changed, she pulled a pillow closer to her. Her stomach felt prickly, and her insides were burning. She felt like she could combust into a pile of ashes with the heat her body was emitting. Rolling onto her back she stared at the ceiling.

"Hunter! You need to find a way back and report everything that happened to the commander. If I don't come back in three days, ask him to send backup," Echo replied. She coughed up some blood, curling back into a ball.

Hunter watched Echo hesitantly, "What if something happens to you while I'm going? I can't leave you behind!"

"H-hunter... I-I'll just slow you down!"

"But you are my friend! I don't leave friends behind," Hunter replied. She stared at Echo, expecting her to come with her.

"I n-need to p-protect Damon. Just G-GO!"

Echo knew she would pass out from the pain any moment, and Hunter would not leave when that happens. She needed to send the tiger away before anything happened. "You need to go now. You'll be able to find out what's causing this too. Jasmine might have a cure for it."

Hunter nodded reluctantly. Maybe if she followed Echo's orders, the three of them would be able to return back to the Protectors manor unharmed. She glanced back at Echo, before leaving out the door.

Raising her head to see Hunter leave out the door. She lowered her head back down, closing her eyes. This was not the first time she was injured and alone, but this was the first time she felt like she was abandoned. Something felt out of place, she felt like she remembered this feeling. This feeling of being abandoned, but never in her life had she felt this way. When she was a human, her parents and Finn would always take care of her, even if her injury was just a bruise from falling on the ground. The witches would always leave her injured, but she never felt this way before. What could that have meant?

Hearing the sound of the door opening, she said, "I didn't expect you to come back so soon!"

Footsteps approached her. "I doubt you were even expecting me!"

Reaching for her sword, which was kept standing near the table, Echo's eyes shot open. Her eyes fell on the masked demon she had met a few hours ago.

The Midnight Onix shot a fireball at Echo.

She fell on the ground, wincing in pain. The burning sensation increased. She felt like she was about to throw up.
