"I'm not! Why would I lie now? What do I have to gain from lying to you? Even if you were correct, and I was just using him to get closer to the demons, wouldn't I need him alive?"
Rose glanced back at Damon when she heard Echo's words. She thought to herself, 'Maybe what she was saying is right, but what happens afterwards? Will she hurt Damon? Will she finally get what she wants? I don't want Damon to get hurt after all this. I need to be careful!'
"Fine! We'll go back to the mansion," Rose replied, trying to lift Damon up. She continued the sentence in her head, 'But I'm not going to do things your way. I'll talk to the butler, she'll help me.'
Hunter helped Echo, but she refused the tiger's help, "I'm fine. Check on Damon."
The tiger stepped back, took a quick glance of Echo and turned around to help Damon.
Echo gave her weight to her sword as she stood up, almost stumbling back to the ground. Her stomach was burning from the inside. She had no idea why her body was reacting in this rather odd way. She clutched her stomach in pain while slowly staggering forward.
Hunter dragged Damon towards the entrance, with Echo following them as fast as she could.
Rose led the way to Damon's car. She opened the door, as Hunter got him inside. She sat beside Damon in the back seat, and shut the door.
Echo leaned on the door frame, watching Hunter and Rose. She sighed, as she shifted her weight from the door frame onto her sword. She nearly stumbled, when Hunter rushed over to her.
"Let me help!" The tiger moved to her side, and Echo gave some of her weight to her trusted friend.
She had so many thoughts running through her mind, the main being why Rose was sitting next to Damon. Was she not supposed to be in that place? He was her boyfriend, but Rose was playing the part of his girlfriend. This angered her, but the pain that suddenly shot through her body made her forget this. She felt the pain take over her body, and her legs grew weaker. With each step, she felt her legs lose the ability to hold her weight up. They were a few feet away from the car, when her legs finally gave way, and she stumbled to the ground.
Hunter dashed forward, catching her master on her back. Echo was heavy, but Hunter was strong enough to lift her weight. The tiger gently dropped her master to the ground. "What's happening? Why is your body so weak?"
"I-I don't know. T-this had n-never happened b-before!" Echo felt the pain intensify, and her body went numb. She felt like her whole body was heating up, and shivered when a little breeze blew their way.
Hunter dragged Echo to the car, and got her in the passenger seat. She walked back to the backseat, and glared at Rose, "You have to drive!"
Rose hesitantly glanced at Damon, and then at Echo. "What is the use of having two supernatural creatures when neither of them can even stand up straight!" she rumbled as she got out of the car, making her way to the driver's seat. She drove away from the hotel.
Echo closed her eyes, after taking a small glance at Hunter and Damon.
"What is happening to you?" Rose asked, glancing at Echo whenever she could.
Echo sighed. Was this annoying human never going to let her rest? "I don't know," she replied with her eyes still shut.
"Of course you don't. Like I said, I doubt you are really the Witches chosen warrior. You look like you can barely stand your ground!" Rose blurted.
Echo simply ignored her. She did not know when she drifted off, but when they arrived outside the mansion, she felt almost as if they had teleported there.
Hunter got out of the car, and helped Rose get Damon out.
The butler hurried towards the car. "What happened to him?"
"I don't know! He used his powers, and then passed out," Rose replied. She was shocked when the butler lifted Damon with ease, taking him inside.
Hunter ran back to get Echo, "Can you walk?"
Echo nodded her head, limping out of the car. She felt much better than earlier. Her stomach still hurt, but she had more energy than before. "I feel much better!"
Hunter was not fully reassured, thus keeping a close distance to Echo, just in case she would stumble to the ground once again.
Rose left with the butler and Damon. She was too concerned about Damon to leave him behind.
Hunter watched as Echo tried to follow behind, but her injuries slowed her down. It was hard for Hunter to watch her in this state, "Echo! Wait!"
Echo glanced at Hunter, "I need to check on Damon! What if they do something to him?"
Hunter stood in front of Echo, blocking her way, "Echo! You need to check on yourself first before worrying about Damon. He said we can trust the butler. You need to get some rest before you try to protect Damon. What are you even going to do after following him? You can barely walk."
Echo sighed. She understood that Hunter was worried about her, but she needed to check on Damon. Fighting her own thoughts, she finally came to a conclusion. Damon would have wanted her to stay healthy, and Hunter was right, she could barely walk. What was she going to do for Damon? "Fine! We'll go to my room."
Hunter relaxed once Echo's words left her mouth.
The two walked to Echo's room, and saw Denzel walking out. He did not notice them, but instantly vanished into a dark smoke.
Echo glanced at Hunter, "Wasn't that Denzel? What was he doing in my room?" The two entered the room. Everything was in place, nothing was taken, or moved around.
