Chapter 10 - Battle for 10 seconds.

"This is getting tiring." Jojo complained.

It was over twenty minutes since they started hunting for a quest in the village. But to their dismay, no one was about to issue them a quest. They realized how difficult it was getting a quest.

"What should we do?" Maya asked. The team gather at the village square, staring at the people moving back and forth.

"We split." Emma decided. "Chose a location and asked for a quest. Don't mind anyone. Ask one you see." He commanded.

"Hmm, hmm:" They nodded and dispersed with a large stride.

Emma stared at the busy street, lost in thought. He scanned the street for any possible people that could issue a quest, but he found. He took a deep and turned. His focused on the only brick building in the village. The village manor.

The manor was a five-storey building with a lot of guard patrolling the entrance. He stared at the manor for a moment and clicked his tongue. 'Since, we can't find a quest with the normal way. Then—"

He matched toward the manor in a large stride. The more he approached the manor, the less he saw people around. But he didn't care. Worst came to worst. He would be asked to leave.

Emma was a couple of feet from the manor entrance when his helmet picked a sound coming from his left. The sound was inaudible. If not for his helmet, he won't have heard the sound. He halt his track and looked at the sound direction.

'What could possibly make such a sound.' He mused.

Emma found himself walking toward the sound direction. After walking for a couple of meters, he saw a small alley. Without stopping, he continued following the sound. He came out of his alley and his eyes widen a bit.

'No one would have expected this kind of place would be hidden here.' He pursed his lips and approached the training ground.

A large expanse of green field with tall trees at the back. Rows of stack of weapons were hanged on wooden shelves. A group of being with triangular head, two Grey eyes and many tendrils around their heads were covered in bruise. They dragged their selves away from the center of the training field, looking at a particular person with grievance.

An old man with long white beard, crook nose and sharp eyes, stood at the center of the training ground with a sword in hand. He looked at the surrounding with a wild smile on his face.

"Why are you all weak!? Is there no person or team that could last 10 seconds under my sword?" He shouted, his eyes darting from one angle to another.

Inhaled Deeply.

For a moment, every one around the training ground held their breath, looking at each other. Who else would try. They thought. Suddenly, a dark alligator man strolled to the center of the training ground.

"What's in for us if we stand for more than 10 seconds." The alligator man asked.

"Hahaha. Nothing. This is a training ground. So consider it as mentorship." The old man roared in laughter, waving his sword.

"Are you fighting or not?" He asked after stopping his laughter.

"Sure." The alligator man waves his hand and six other alligators joined the fight.

"Are you ready?"

Whoosh!

The alligator teams rushed toward the old man in a unified manner. Their step and coordination were superb. Emma saw their battle strategic and nodded. 'Gush! The other races are far ahead of us.' He mused.

The old man didn't bat an eye at their ferocious attack. It was only when the attack was a couple of inches from his body did he move. His foot walk was bizarre. He maneuvered the attack with little space.

'What the hell' Emma cried. His eyes gawked at the scene. "Zeus."

[[On it.]]

Bang!

Two of the alligator men were sent flying with the casual swing of his sword. The alligator didn't falter. They maintained their discipline routine and attack uniformly. But no matter how skillful or coordinated the attack of the alligator men. The old man dodged it with ease.

'His movement skill and sword play—' Emma creased his brow.

Bang!

Another two were sent flying, crashing on the ground and puking blood. The wild smile on the old man's face never left. "That was 5 seconds. Do you still want to continue?" He taunted.

"Of course." The dark alligator which seems to be the leader of the team nodded. He looked at the team and made an eye signal.

At once, the alligator team change their strategic. They use another formation. This formation wasn't as deadly as their first one. But focus on defense.

'Nice decision.'

>>There is nothing nice in their decision. The old man can read them like an open book. All their strategic is useless if they can't move as fast as the man.

'In this situation. Defense is the best option when they've tried attack.' Emma argued.

>>More or less. But it useless.

Bang! Bang!

All the alligators were sent flying a couple of meters. They crashed on the ground, groaning in pain and puke out blood. The leader of the team wipe the blood from his long mouth and stared at the old man in shock and respect.

"Commander, have you gotten a quest." Laka rushed toward Emma.

"Go fight that hold man. You only need to stand your ground for one minute." Emma replied, not looking at him.

"Is that all?" He smirked, looking at the wild old man. "What if I defeat him. Won't it affect the quest."

Emma rolled his eyes and stared at Laka for a moment, not sure of what to say. 'You don't know what you're into. Hmm, good. Let see how you cry when he kicked your ass.' He clicked his tongue.

"No problem."

"Good!" A wild smile spread on his face. He dashed toward the old man with a large stride.

"I challenge you." Laka announced confidently. His voice resounded throughout the training ground.

"Oh. Another green one." The old man touch his beard lightly.

"Why not."
