Rory bowed her head and looked at her daughter beside her. She is used to car rides and for now, she is not crying. Looking at her baby's smile, her tears dried up and a smile bloomed on her face.
Liam looked at Rory. Her eyes were red. He could see that her fever is getting worse. Rory has a high tolerance to pain and she would take more than her body can handle. She won't show her pain and she would suddenly collapse.
Right now, she is on the verge of collapse. Her brain is not working properly and it will be followed by her limbs. She'll faint next.
To top off her weirdness, she hates swallowing pills. What a pain in the ass!
But he's seen her in this state before. He doesn't have the galls to see her collapse once again.
He called for the hostess. "Bring the soup. Crush the medications and mix it well," he told.
Rory gently patted Ellie and kept on talking to her to keep her relaxed. She was waiting for the jet to take off. But it was not moving.
As she was about to ask Liam, the hostess walked towards her and with a very beautiful smile, gave her a small bowl of piping hot…
"Is that soup?" Rory asked.
Why would they give hot soup in this weather? And is that ginger I smell?
"Yes, Ma'am. It is Turmeric and Ginger Chicken Soup," the hostess offered her the soup.
Rory threw up a little in her mouth. She hates ginger. Ginger should be abolished from planet earth is her opinion about ginger. She looked at Liam.
"Drink. We are waiting for you," he said, picking up the bowl from the tray.
Rory now understood everything. He is threatening her. He won't let the jet take off if she does not drink this abomination!
What a prick!
Rory got the bowl from his hand and drank it in full pinching her nose. She is not going to lose to a bowl of soup.
Liam was stunned to see her finishing the soup in one gulp. He thought he will have to cajole her to drink the soup as always.
"Finished," Rory placed the bowl on the tray and patted her mouth dry with a graceful smile.
Liam nodded at the hostess and she left to inform the cabin crew to prepare for take-off. He looked at Rory who had a smirk on her face. Without saying anything, he understood that she was boasting.
He rubbed his chest. Something didn't feel right for him.
Has she changed?
The flight took off and Ellie started crying. Rory could not bear to see her wee little baby screaming her throat off. Her face went red and her throat got dry with all the crying.
"It's okay, baby… It's okay…" she held the baby close to her chest and kept on talking to calm the baby down.
Liam was staring at Rory clenching the armrest. More than the baby, he felt pity toward Rory. Her eyes were red, her fingers were trembling and she was very nervous.
He saw love in her face.
He has flying anxiety and she always took care of him whenever they flew together. She would look at him the same way she is looking at the baby now. And he…
He thought she was pitying him and making fun of him in her heart. He used to get annoyed. But she would still be patient with him and would help him. And that annoyed him more.
It only confirmed his belief that she thinks of him as a baby.
He thought he knows her the best because he is the one spending a lot of time with her. But he knew nothing about her.
She never showed her true self to him. For her, he is just a pathetic loser who is her friend. She would leave him for a good-looking dark-haired guy. That's what he thought.
But whenever she talked to him expressing her thoughts and wishes, he accused her of being loud and bitchy. But she never stopped talking to him.
He was the one who wanted to marry her. And he got to marry her easily with his family's help. He thought he got it all and…. He stopped working to improve their relationship. He even thought that he regretted marrying her.
And the worst of all… he thought Allison was the perfect woman there is. He thought…
He thought wrong. He was stupid! And now…
She was the same. Her smile never changed from the day they met. No matter how bad the day is, no matter how nasty he behaved with her, each night before going to bed, she would kiss his cheek with a smile.
He thought she was bowing her head apologizing because he is the one in the right. Yeah… he thought her simple gestures of love were acts of submission. The prideful woman is asking for his forgiveness with a kiss—he thought.
But… Who was he to forgive her? Who was he to sit on a high horse? In the end, it was she who loves him the most.
And he…
When he realized what he had done, it was too late. He thought she would accept him whenever he returns to her. He thought he will have to push her away from him for her sake. After what he did to her he doesn't deserve to be by her side after all.
But she…
