After eating breakfast and washing up Talin went to his room to get dressed and prepare for his job application requirements.
He wore a cute white hoodie, white socks, and some black sweatpants along with his white cap.
"I looked at myself in the mirror, why does it have to be this boy? He's poor and his life is so boring." Ves wondered
"But I'll help him make his family proud and from now on I'll make Talin the boy version of me, brilliant and hardworking."
"I'll forget about being me and become this boy."
"I looked around the room, this time I saw a very simple room. There are only 5 things that you can see in this room: the bed, his clothing storage, his shoes, an old study table, and a lamp. The walls are a mixture of colors black and gray. The curtains are see-through and just plain brown." Vestra observed.
She also observed the high ceiling causing Talin's room to be just fine even without an air-conditioner or an electric fan.
He stayed in his room for a while and continued to take things and re-thinking. He turned to look at himself again. He has fair tanned skin, with straight dark brown hair. He can clearly see that his eye color is brown.
He started to do the things that he must comply with to apply for a part-time job when he noticed he ran out of bond papers. He immediately went to Gayo to ask for some.
Not too close, Gayo heard his brother's walking sound coming to his room. He reached out his hands to where Talin is standing, so Talin came forward.
"Is there anything you want?" Gayo asked his brother.
"I ran out of long bond papers can you give me some?"
Gayo looked at Talin hesitantly but he did not refuse.
"Okay, it's on my desk" Gayo pointed at his desk right beside the door.
"By the way, how's school, I guess you're not passing any projects for the semester right? Talin asked.
Gayo sighed. He responded nothing to his brother's question.
"Silence means yes, don't worry mom will know about this." Talin winked
"Do you need my bond paper or what?"
"Calm down bro that was just a joke but you should take your education seriously, that's the last thing you can do to make mom happy," Talin uttered
He walked out of Gayo's room. He was trying to get a hold of his phone in his pocket but he remembered he left it in his room.
He entered his room and opened his laptop to print his resume and he prepared his id.
The next day Talin woke up to the sound of chicken clucks from their yard. He looked out in the direction where the sound came from and found his face being touched by sun rays.
"I slowly opened my eyes and I guess it's not a dream."
"Wait lemme just give a yawn"
"One…"
"Two…"
"Ahhhhhh"
"Okay let's start this day" Talin stifle another yawn
Talin got up to shower and made himself presentable for his first day of hunting part-time jobs. Talin's appearance didn't reflect like he was a senior high at all.
He immediately came down from his room to
make himself an egg sandwich. An egg with a mayonnaise sandwich. He sat on his oversized chair and started eating. It has always been him that hated the taste of cucumbers and lettuces in sandwiches so he prefers the plain ones.
Talin himself sighed, hoping that he gets a job sooner so he can study for college and help his family. The coin savings that he saved when he was still in eleventh grade ran out and he only had 200 pesos in his pocket to pay for his possible transportation costs.
He rode a minibus to town and arrived. When he arrived he could see the hiring poster on a bakery and a convenience store. Talin took the chance and applied for the position of cashier.
While walking around town He suddenly got a call from his Philosophy teacher.
"Hello, Mr.Cuevas I have good news u might want to hear" the teacher reported.
"Good morning Mrs. Lay, sure go ahead" he stated.
"Darling you just got one of the slots in the scholarship program!" Mrs. Lay rejoiced.
"There's no way I can pass that university, Cher, you gotta be making a fool out of me."
"No there are 5 of you who passed the exams, congratulations Mr.Cuevas!"
Thank you, Ma'am."
Talin want to tell his mother the good news so she immediately dialed her number. It rang for a few minutes. Mrs. Cuevas answered the phone
"Hello, honey?." His mother from the other line spoked
"Mama I had goosebumps, Mrs.Lay told me I passed the scholarship exam at Wellington University!"
"I'm proud of you son, I know you can do it! I love you." Mrs. Cuevas said proudly
"Will I survive in that kind of university Ma?
"There's no point in asking things like that son. You'll find out when you started studying in that school."
"I have a feeling that my life there will not be easy." Talin worried.
"Oh right! I forgot I have to look for more hiring stores Ma, that's all I have to go"
"Okay honey take care."
"You too Ma."
Not too far from where Talin is standing there's another convenience store that's looking for a crew.
Someone from the store opened the double glass door. The store is spacious, there are tables and chairs too.
"Hi sir I saw that you're looking for a crew, here's my resume"
With that, the man smiled at Talin.
"It looks like you're a student. Are you applying for a part-time job?" the man smiled gently at Talin.
Talin nodded. He adjusted himself to make an expression that he was willing to do the part-time job.
Suddenly we heard the door open. We both looked in the direction of the door and saw some customers approaching.
"Okay, I'll tell my staff to call you if you're hired." The man told Talin
Talin went home at last after applying for 3 jobs. He took a rest and went for a power nap.
