It was a crystal stone with ruby glow. Kyra can detect the fluctuation of mana inside. She raised her brows when she compare the two crystal stone.
What's this supposed to do?
Obviously, her and Crimson got one each. She wanted to ask the Demon King but found his presence is gone. In the distance, Kyra can hear the footsteps of the demon armies. It seems Crimson's outburst of blood control has been undone.
It could be because he's no longer in this space. Kyra tucked the crystal stone in her pockets and stepped into the portal.
On the other side, what greets her is a world fairly like her own. The sky is blue with thick patch of clouds rolling in the horizon. The sun is nowhere to be seen but becausr of the whiteness of clouds, it can be said the sun is out there in the sky. Buried under the thick clouds.
This world has fresh richer air than the demon realm. Full of vigor and life. They are inside a forest with gigantic thick trunks of trees and giant leaves.
Trees hundred meter their size and strong sturdy vines surrounded the whole forest. It was difficult to see in the distance because of the white mist clouding the whole forest.
At her left, Kyra found an unhibited cave. She was about to turn and head deeper into the forest when someone suddenly grabbed her arm.
It was Crimson.
"Where are you going?"
"To the Half Peak Mountain." Kyea answered expressionlessly. Crimson laughed humorless.
"If you want to be eaten by these Level 1-4 species then go ahead, I won't stop you."
Kyra immediately looked around in alarmed. Level 1-4? She studied the trees closely. The thick black slimy vines. It wasn't obvious at first, but when she look closely, she saw how the vine bulged slightly before going back to its position.
She looked at the trees. The ground. She studied the tremors of the earth. Crimson was right. These gigantic trees are alive. Although dormant. They are thousand levels higher from those carnivorous plants she saw her people raise back in their garden.
"What should we do?"
Crimson was shocked to hear her ask him that. The faery wench trust him? Like seriously? But he focused more on the danger at hand. In the beast realm, it's close to nightfall, the most dangerous time. The hunting season.
The Void houses the largest most vicious creatures in the faery realm. Crimson and Kyra are still unfamiliar with the place. They need to tread cautiously and study the surroundings first. They might be strong but that advantage exist if they knew what they are up against.
Kyra no longer protest Crimson's advice and came with him as they entered the cave. The moment they step in, a bunch of luminiscent mushrooms glow immediately as they entered.
Kyra frowned. Crimson wave his hands.
"Don't worry. They are harmless. They don't attack unless you attack them first. They are the mushroom species with Level 1 strength."
"Plants." Kyra observed.
Crimson ignored her and went to find an empty spot to settle on. The mushrooms illumiscent lights started to blink. Crimson find it odd. He had been here a lot but this is the first time he saw these mushrooms acting weird.
"What's wrong?"
And then the weirdest thing happened. The ground began to shake and the mushrooms started to wiggle themselves off from the ground. Their illumiscent glow looks pale to Crimson. He had witnessed these mushrooms glow before. But never this bleak.
"What is it?" Crimson went to the nearest mushroom. It's shiny head bounce thrice. It's body elongated.
"It wants you to help unroot its roots." Kyra said behind him.
"Why?"
Kyra did not answer. She gazed at the misty forest who darkened quickly because of the absence of light.
"Something is coming." Kyra said. Crimson immediately rush to her side and looked. Other than the early darkness in the mist, there was nothing amiss in the forest. His visual can't get past those giant trunks but his senses are among the best.
"Something what?" Crimson carelessly replied. Yet he can't help but get worried of the mushroom's odd behavior.
"Something that even those towering trees are scared of."
Now it's time for Crimson to he alarmed. Fuck! No wonder these mushrooms act weird. Is that why the night in the forest came faster? Was it all because of their arrival.
"I don't think those Level 10 Warbeasts can scare the big trees in their turf. This is the Void, their territory. Level 1-4 species can set up tons of traps to end those invading Warbeasts. Besides, they have that silent agreement to keep away from each territories. So there's no way- "
"But things can't be said the same when it comes to tresspasers from other races." Kyra sharply looked at him.
"My realm is the big example of that."
At the distance, a loud cry broke into the dead silence of the forest. Scaring the trees on site. The vines wiggle and immediately dug itself into the ground. Scared at the thing that is coming. The mushrooms also skidded and dug into the ground.
As the cry got nearer, the ear splitting shriek almost break Crimson's ears. It's like his soul is on the verge of collapsing. Crimson struggled to stand on his ground.
Then he felt something hit his stomach. When he look over, he met Kyra's eyes.
"Draconoid. Focus on your mana here and let your blood flow with it. The draconoid's shout can blow your mind the more you listen to it."
Crimson hastily closed his eyes and do what Kyra told him to do. His blood pump right at the second he called on it. It jump and immediately climb into his ears and creates a barrier in his eardrums and brain. Blocking the sound wave from penetrating through.
"How did you know about draconoids?!" Crimson exclaimed.
"Because I captured one before."
