Chapter 14 - Kyra

It was a battle of a thousand puppets versus nature's master. A vicious bloodbath battle. The puppets of the long haired man stood no chance against Kyra. The Tower's protection encased her even more, strengthening her power.

"Master! Please!" The Ice Demon panicked with each second that passed. It was obvious his master is losing against her, but he refused to leave. What was Ice Demon supposed to do?

He absolutely can't leave his master alone to save himself. He will only meet death at the hand of the demon royalty behind his Master's back.

The long haired man paid no attention to the Ice Demon. He keeps repairing the puppets Kyra ripped apart and forced them to attack her again. Still, nothing can step within twenty meter radius of her. Limbs and flesh flew away, scattering in the air whenever they trespassed.

The Ice Demon stared in horror as the radius got bigger. The atmosphere gets darker and heavier by the second, leaving no place for the sun to shine. The bluish mist concentrated until it condensed into solid state. Kyra gives rise to not only plants – her power starts to extend to the earth itself. Rocks and hills obeyed her bidding. Clouds respond to her calling. Wind kneeled at her command.

It was the same natural disaster that the Ice Demon used to devastate the fairies' lives. The thunder struck and its aim was the Ice Demon and his Master. The wind formed vicious hurricanes that slashed everything in its way, multiplying by the second. The ground keep shaking and land formations work together with the vines to capture both of them.

The Ice Demon felt fatigue from overuse of mana. The long haired man did not lend him a hand to fight off these disasters, only focusing on Kyra. His thousands of puppets are coming for her nonstop.

The Ice Demon produced ice out of the tip of his palm and froze the hurricane. He only succeeded in freezing one but another two formed when he was busy freezing.

"Fuck!" He cursed.

"Master, help me." The ground open up and five vicious vines attack the Ice Demon. He managed to evade one in time. However, he did not expect there's another vine sneaking up behind him. It shot through his chest, coming out of his back.

The Ice Demon choke up in pain. What's even worse is the vines grow roots in his flesh. It blossoms by absorbing his mana. This instantly drained his power. He almost collapsed on his knee.

The vines are much more dangerous and parasitic. The stem grew bigger as it doubled its absorption in the Ice Demon's mana. The Ice Demon felt extremely weakened. He clutched on to his Master for support.

"Master… help me.." he pleads. Blood trickled down his mouth.

The longer the vines stayed on his body, the weaker he became. The hurricanes slowly subside. The ranks of the puppets are reducing in an alarming state. The Ice Demon noticed this and looked at his Master.

Horror suffused his features. His Master was in the same situation as him. There was a vine stuck on his chest. And it absorbs his mana at a fast rate. Due to rapid lose of mana, the long haired man could no longer extend his control over the puppets. Now he was losing them.

The long haired man's features also change drastically. The same could be said with the Ice Demon. The long haired man's thin face became even thinner; his bones were visible in his cheekbone and jaw.

His arms grew frail, his legs became weaker. Until both demons no longer have the strength to stand up on their own. They both collapsed on their knees and trembled. The earth shattering nature disasters stopped. The ground no longer trembles, the cracks are filling themselves – as if the gaping holes never existed. The hurricanes stopped, the clouds parted.

It was another beautiful day with the sun shining down on them. However, for the two demons who had their life energy sucked out of them, the heat of the sun is hell.

The Tower's protection also receded from Kyra's body. Yet her eyes are still glazed over. She stepped forward to face the two kneeling demons. Her eyes were unforgiving and full of malice.

The Ice Demon and the long haired man knew she wasn't herself just yet. Kyra is still under the influence of the Tower. Kyra unsheathed her sword and glared at them. Her eyes are blank, but the way they glowed in strange white sent shivers up their spine.

She raised her white frosted blade.

"N-N-no, pl-ple-please-"

The Ice Demon begged for mercy. Yet he wasn't able to finish his sentence. His head had already detached from his body. His last memories of the world were a blank stare and a confused 'eh?'

He did not get to see his goal at the end. Even the long haired man's obsession was never fulfilled. They are both trying to offend the Tower's champion. And it has come to bite them back.

The long haired man did not heed the warnings stated in the legend.

'Those who threatened the chosen champion's life, beware, the Tower of Erase will place the law in its hand to deliver justice upon you. The Tower is the entity that formed the laws of the universe. The realms exist due to its benevolence. No matter how powerful you are, there are always beings above you. And the Tower of Erase sat at the top.'

......…

Kyra blinked back against the rising sun. She stared at the desolate town before her. Her grip on her sword tighten. What exactly happened here?!

There's no longer any trace of the town that once stood on this piece of land. Only a desolate landscape that appears to have been devastated by a raging storm. There is no evidence that fairies once lived here.

It's a forsaken land.

Kyra felt her heart grow heavy. She took a shaky breath and turned around. But she can't find her way back home. Just how far did she go astray? Why does the land have nothing except towering desert and left over planks?

Mixture of memories bombarded her brain. Chaotic emotions took control of her heart. She forced to calm herself down. She went in the direction she remembered.

After she takes a few steps, something crunch in her feet. The figure was definitely buried in the pile of sand, but she was sure it belonged to a living being.
