"Yi Hua! My love!~ Come here." Yi Hua turns around with a bright smile, and a beautiful melodic chuckle echoes the wide and vast land as Yi Hua runs towards the voice, her light pinkish robe flowing behind along with the breeze making her figure all visible. Still, everything was going well.
But suddenly she halts on her step, her hands moving to her stomach as the reflex, her eyes wide at the figure standing straight in front of her, the face she searched for remained blurry and it even scared her to the core, she nevertheless, could feel a sense of anger and bewilderment with sparks of betrayal.
"Ah-a-ah..." She felt her body going all limp, she swore she heard someone say something which got her scared yet knowing she was losing consciousness.
"Yi Hua, this is it... your end." And with that being said she felt the dagger out and again pierced in with much force.
"AHHH!!!!!"
"Aish! Hua, You scared me!!!" Lin Yi had her hand against her chest as her eyes met Yi Hua's terrified one, seeing her in that state she sighs walking towards her. "Again?" Lin Yi questions hugging her and caressing her head.
Yi Hua whimpers, nodding her head, Lin Yi sighs, pulling herself away and sitting beside her on the bed.
"It's okay. That is just a dream. " Lin Yi says, caressing her face and smiling at her reassuringly. Yi Hua sighs then takes a deep breath, her pants were getting soft and she was calming down.
Lin Yi wipes her sweat away from her face with the sleeve of her shirt, "What were you doing so early?" Yi Hua questions eyeing her best friend who was all-ready- tip-topped, with a suitcase beside her.
"I told you yesterday that I have to return back to my hometown, I need to tend to my sick mother." Lin Yi says giving Yi Hua a disappointed look.
"Ahh, yeah. It's because I just woke up and it's just taking time for me to remember." Yi Hua says awkwardly, chuckling and pushing the covers away from her body.
"Hua, shouldn't you visit a doctor? I mean therapy would help you get rid of those recurring nightmares." Yi Hua sighs at her friend's advice, "It's not that I don't want to but..."
"No buts, Hua. You are getting these dreams forever!" Lin Yi burst out in frustration seeing her friend troubled every morning, "And now you are twenty-three! All ready for a job, done, graduated, and all but still, it won't just go away!"
"I know... I will go and visit the doctor but not alone. " Yi Hua mumbles, hanging her head low while Lin Yi sighs, shaking her head in disbelief.
"You could have just asked me!" Lin Yi snaps at her but Hua chuckles, "No, I mean I don't want to go alone so I will wait for you to be back." Lin Yi sighs but she nods her head.
"But it will take about three weeks, can you be alone for these coming weeks?" Hua smiles reassuringly at her best friend, "I feel so lucky to have you, Yi." Hua says, tackling Lin Yi into a bear hug while the latter chuckles, hugging her back.
"Now, it's time for my departure. " Lin Yi says, pulling herself away. "Hmm, greet aunt my greetings! Tell her to be good soon and send me lots of dumplings!" Yi Hua enthusiastically yells making the latter squint her eyes but she gives in nodding her head.
"Sure. You, take care of yourself and call me every day!" Lin Yi says waving her phone at her, "And I have made the breakfast so freshen up." Yi Hua smiles mumbling a 'thank you ' while Lin Yi drags her suitcase along with her out of the room and the house simultaneously.
Yi Hua walks to her wardrobe and gets her clothes out heading inside the washroom, her mind filled with the things she dreamed of. "Why do I dream such weird dreams?" She questions herself tilting her head to the side and opening the lead with water getting collected in the tub.
"...because you need to remember!"
Yi Hua snapped her head around when she felt like she heard someone whisper-yelling against her ear. Feeling conflicted and perplexed about that sudden voice she couldn't help but doubt if she was the only one in the washroom.
A sudden movement had her gasp, "I swear...I just saw a cat jump." She mumbles, turning around and checking out her room in fear and bewilderment.
She slowly walks to the door and peeks into her room, "Is my ear hearing things and eyes seeing things?" She questions herself, sighing out in relief with her mind believing her cover-up, she walks back to the tub and closes the tap.
"Ahh, I am yearning for a cold shower." She says walking into the tub after stripping herself out of her clothes.
Thud!
She jumps a little flinching at the sudden noise, she grabs her clothes from the floor and puts them back on as if they weren't wet. She walks out looking around, to her surprise she finds nothing.
"What did I just hear?" She says, walking out of her room and making her way to the kitchen, she then saw a cat walking around and stumbling on the things on the counter, she grits her teeth.
"Yah! You beautiful creature! Don't make a mess!" She shouts, running towards the cat but as the cat senses her, it escapes out of the window or as if it disappeared into the thin air. She looks around to see the cat had spilled the milk all over the floor from the bottle.
"Ah, Yi, you should have kept the milk inside the fridge." She mumbles, walking towards the fridge and checking if she had more milk but she pouts seeing none.
Her eyes fall on the plate, and a smile forms on her lips seeing her friend had made her breakfast.
---------
"Ah, Lin Yi always makes it tasty. Yi Hua mumbles, wiping her lips as she walks towards the sink with the plate.
Grabbing the sponge, she washes the plate and the spoon then rinsing it in the water, she places it aside wiping the water off. She wipes her hands dry walking out of the kitchen, she makes her way towards the couch in the living room.
Lin Yi and Yi Hua, both of them have already graduated and they were childhood friends. They grew up together in the same neighborhood and went to the same school but with their dream varying from each other, they both attended different universities and decided to live together in an apartment.
The apartment was spacious for them with a kitchen, a living room, and two bedrooms but they had one room left out so that their parents could stay over when they visited and they ended up sharing a room. Now that Lin Yi's mother was suffering, Hua was left alone in the apartment.
"No worries, I need to apply for a job, anyways! I will get busy." Yi Hua mumbles, grabbing the phone out of her pocket, she scrolls down her phone checking out job offers from the companies she wanted to work for.
Getting graduated means she has to find a job so she can feed herself and send some earnings back home to her mother who has been responsible for her all this time, "God, why is it so hard to find a job?!" Yi Hua shouts, groaning and tossing the phone over on the couch beside her.
She grabs the remote and opens the Tv, she clicks continuously changing the channel, "Nothing to watch..." She mumbles closing the Tv shut, she looks around and sees how messy the living room was.
"Maybe, I should start with cleaning and then, I need to go grocery shopping." Speaking to herself, she stands up collecting the clothes lying here and there, after collecting them she walks to the washing machine and puts the clothes in.
She walks back to the kitchen after letting the machine do its work, she grabs a broom. She walks back starting sweeping the floor.
----
After what felt like years, she finishes cleaning the house, drenched in sweat.
"I need to shower... but should I grab the grocery first?" She thinks to herself, shaking her head no she walks back to her room.
"I need to prepare my resume. I need to go job hunting." She says, walking to the wardrobe she takes out comfortable jeans and a casual shirt with her inners.
Closing the wardrobe she walks to her bed, grabs the towel, and makes her way inside the washroom.
"Please, God... help me. " Hua mumbles, hoping to make her life easy by getting a job she has been working hard for.
She hangs her clothes against the hanger, stripping out of her clothes again as she stands just below the showerhead. She twists the knob and the water-falls on her, she whimpers and shivers as the cold water touches her body.
"Auh... cold." She mumbles, grabbing the soap she starts showering.
After a shower, she wipes herself and puts on her clothes, she walks out of the washroom walking in front of the mirror. She dries her hair letting it free so that it would dry further on its own.
She grabs her moisturizer, applying it to her face and her hands. She grabs her lip tint applying it on her, mild so it won't look off.
She blinks her eyes when she sees herself in the mirror, the face... was hers but the dress?
"Ahh!" Yi Hua screams, she blocks her vision looking away, taking in ragged breathing, and trying to calm herself. She felt as if her heart would pump out with the way it was beating in fear.
Blinking her eyes she looks ahead at herself in the mirror, "Ahh! Who are you?!" She shouts throwing the lip tint she had on her hand against the mirror, the mirror gets smudged with the tint and it falls down.
Yi Hua's chest heaved up and down as she looked at herself in the mirror peeking in through her fingers, she saw herself smiling making her cry out in fear.
She looks down at herself and checks if she was wearing those weird robes as in the mirror but she wasn't, "W-Who...are you?" Yi Hua questions, gulping and taking a step forward.
"Me?" She heard voices in her mind as if her ears were betraying her. She definitely saw that the figure moved her lips but why did it feel like she heard it inside her mind and not through her ear?
She felt her body trembling in fear but she spoke out, "Y-Yeah..."
"I am..." She heard it again, inside her head. She frowns when the voice fades away.
She waits a while looking at the figure in confusion.
"You." With that word, she felt as if her soul escaped her body and her head felt light as all she could see was darkness. Her mind went into an endless void that had no ends.
