Chapter 19 - Who needed that hot babe anyway?

Still, nobles had to act their part and since I was going to take on the role of a wandering Knight myself, it was only natural I'd show interest in helping a fellow knight…

I had no plans on helping her though.

"How much is she worth again?" I pointed at the cage and stared at one of the employees.

"35 Gold sir," A shrug from the employee and he returned his focus back to his other important customers.

Apparently, I wasn't worth his time.

Well, he was right because we didn't have a single gold let alone 35.

So- we proceeded to walk away.

"Wait, wait!" The knight pressed on the cage and desperately shook it. "Please, I can't waste my time here. I need to get out! I'd do anything other than give you, my body! Please! You're adventurers, right!? I'll fight for you! I'm really strong!" So sayeth the girl who had a slave collar on her neck and couldn't get out of a frigging cage.

There were a bunch of other slaves here too but they weren't making a scene like her.

"Sorry, but we don't have time nor money."

So sayeth the guy who'd been wasting time regardless.

Sigh.

I was a frigging hypocrite.

So, it was high time we got out of here.

"Fine! I'll let you lick my feet! So please!" She'd been squirming and looking red like she was offering me her virginity or something.

"Are you stupid!" If a girl was talking about her chest or thighs I could understand. But feet? What! "And the hell are you drooling you nitwit!"

Apparently, one of the customers to my left was pretty much drooling staring at the feet of the knight… a bulge on his pants.

Well, at least she had a customer.

All kinds of people existed in this world, I guess….

"Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with this world…" I mumbled, grabbing Amiya's hand and dashing out.

The whole time Amiya was frigging giggling. "Well, we know you're not a feet guy," She whispered.

My face heated up a bit so I walked faster.

And the two cats?

They couldn't care less.

We made it back to the main road and just followed it towards the center of the town where the necessary places were.

"The whole slavery business is run by the Earthwaltz gang. If you have any intentions of freeing slaves or messing with their business, it's not going to work," Amiya spoke nonchalantly and just walked ahead. "I'd suggest staying away from them."

"As I said before, I'm not really interested."

'Is she testing me?'

First, she tells me who runs the place, and then she warns me not to try anything.

Something about that seemed a bit odd.

Rather, this woman herself, was odd…

"The way you kept on talking to the girl though and stared around, seemed to indicate the otherwise."

I shrugged. "Well, if anything, I kind of wanted to free her just to torture her. She kind of pissed me off more than anything else…" Yeah, I shouldn't have said that because I was certainly getting stares…

The streets were crowded and disgusted stares were all over the place.

Sigh.

I probably shouldn't have said that for various other reasons too…

Amiya giggled. "It's not nice speaking your mind like that." She came close and started whispering. "But freeing them does benefit us too. They have more than a few thousand slaves and even if the slaves were freed, they'd have no place to go. but if a certain lord were to give them shelter and work, I wonder what they'd do…" A grin, a very dangerous grin.

I see. So- "Well, that certain lord would first have to set up a business and get his land in the first place."

She almost fell off while giggling.

I still couldn't tell if she was actually really smart or just plain dumb?

Probably both.

And at the same time too.

[Final tutorial quest issued!]

[Free and recruit all the slaves within Blumrose!]

[User may choose to neglect some specific slaves!]

This damn geezer of a voice started singing and with drumrolls too.

'You gotta be fucking kidding me. Were you waiting this whole time just to get to this!?'

I did not even get a hum no….

Sirgh!

And we'd arrived!

The twin guilds.

Two, two-story buildings.

One, the adventurer guild.

The other, the merchant guild.

We had business in both.

"I'll drop by the mercenary guild so take care," Amiya waved, before disappearing into the crowd.

And with that 'we' became the new I…

Sigh.

"Mew!"

Oh wait, the cats!

I wasn't alone!

Muahahah! Who needed that hot Harpy babe anyway….

So, I went into the merchant guild first.

I need a frigging distraction.

***

"Welcome!" Lots of tongue rolling.

Clean, fancy, and rich!

First impression, they meant business, literally.

All the people in here, wore khaki pants and rather large shirts. Why?

Because they were rather large men.

Businessmen.

"I'm looking for a merchant license. Is the guild master available?" I walked up to the receptionist and talked like I owned the place.

The number one surefire way of telling someone you're a noble without telling them?

Act arrogant.

"Um but first, who are you, good sir?"

There were quite a few people around, and they were checking me out.

My shabby clothes were a dead giveaway that I was a traveler and perhaps even… poor.

"Lord Gain, fourth son of Sir Bennebough the Baronet. A wandering knight." Spoken like a true noble, looking down on everyone…

Even though I was just a measly wandering knight without any lands at all… technically.

Bennebough was a noble I knew. A rather secretive fellow. He had a bad habit of sneaking out of the mansion at night and spending quality time in the rooms of his subjects….

Who'd have thought I'd have to resort to calling that thing, my father…

My own father was kind of dead. I really hoped he wouldn't mind…

"Ah, I see," The receptionist lady kind of smiled and fidgeted a bit.

Kind of exaggerating to show that she respected me. She did not respect me one bit though…

I mean, who would respect a guy like me, in clothes like this, who clearly was just a measly knight?
