Chapter 25 - Before the eventual doom

The smith sighed. "Mister can you not ruin my shop? Anyway, you wanted to sell these and buy something?"

Once I let go of the spear, it returned back to its original size.

I chuckled. "Right, right. I want to sell these Sahagin spears, this carapace, and Royal Centipede scales. And show me your best swords and daggers."

I decided to put away the spear on my back so I could use it in times of emergency but-

'So, I can touch this and move it around but can't wield it?' How and what?

What!

I put it in the magic pouch anyway.

"But first, are you sure you want to sell these too? These are royal centipede scales. I'm sure you could have gotten rather good prices of if you were to take them over to the merchants and-"

Yeah, and they'd have surely ripped me off. Besides-

"About those, I was hoping you can make decent armor out of them."

My current armor was falling apart anyway.

"I see, makes sense."

He went back in and brought a bundle of swords and daggers.

Meanwhile, I gave a bit of magic to the tiara and it grew too. Clear, transparent, and lots of patterns. This tiara truly was beautiful. And unlike the spear, I didn't have to constantly supply it with magic. It stayed whatever size I wanted it to.

What's more-

[Cannot be equipped due to level gap!]

Oh well.

As for the swords, almost all of them were good swords. At least better than the one I was using.

Double-edged, heavy, and pretty decent stuff.

However, that was about it.

"Got anything better?"

Was it me or were both staff members really staring at me, especially the girl…

"I don't think you'd find anything better in this town at least. If you're traveling west though, I'd recommend checking out Mother Vans' place. She's the brightest in the country."

I had two specific things I wanted to do.

One, make a name for myself in the city so I had a backup plan and-

Two, somehow, somewhere get in touch with a powerful noble and get their blessing, so I could move onto stage two of my plans.

And in case that didn't work, there was always the way of, slaughtering all the current nobles and taking over a town from the shadows but- hopefully, it'd never come to that.

Either way- I had to sort these things out this out first thing by the end of this week. And the whole thing before my eventual doom.

Unless everything was organized and I actively planned things- it wasn't going to work and I knew that better than everyone.

Lady luck only favored the ones who tried- not the ones who cast a dye and hoped something would happen….

"I'll keep that in mind and I'll take these two."

I still had to buy a sword and a knife. Reason being?

I was the most proficient in those two and a knight without a sword wasn't a knight.

So, I had to keep appearances too.

Besides the moment I picked up the sword- I got a message stating specific stats.

[+17 Attack!]

[+44 Accuracy!]

The knife had very different stuff-

[+12 Attack]

[+51 Accuracy]

I had no idea what they were- but for the time being, I also had no way to make sure.

"I'll pay you 12 gold each for the spears and about 30 in total for all these? Of course, since you brought in so many scales, I'll be glad to only charge you 5 gold for the armor. I'll also give you this sword for 10 gold and this knife for 4 and charge 1 for the ceiling. Does that work for you?"

'SO basically, I get 34 gold back?'

"Hmmm… I think it'd be a bit fairer if you were to give me 40 gold instead."

The guy had an abacus with him. He kept on flinging it around and- "Ah, I think that'd be a bit too much. You can take these elsewhere if you want but, best I can do is 36."

Whoa! Damn guy was strict!

But- "38 and we have a deal."

He was still hesitant but, in the end, - "37 gold and in your good faith, 5 silvers."

He put his hand forward for a shake.

Didn't seem like a bad deal so- "Of course," So I shook his hand.

I was still learning the prices but judging from what I saw so far, I knew I wasn't being ripped off at the very least. Which was good enough for now.

"Please go to that room and give your measurements to Anya."

The female staff member instantly stood behind me and happily led me over to the dressing room in the corner which was barely separated by a thin cloth.

"Wait, you're coming in?"

She was actually coming into the room with me with a tape and what was up with that heavy breathing!?

'Oh boy…'

***

Somehow the measurement thing worked out.

The woman almost drooled as she took my measurements and often tried to touch me in the most awkward of ways.

She panted and often squirmed.

I had a bad feeling about that, so I quickly finished up everything, got paid, and just left.

"Nice doing business and looking forward to more!" The owner shouted as I came out of his store…

I could have always complained about the employee- but maybe she was sick? Everyone had bad days after all.

Hopefully, it really was a bad day and not what I was imagining…

The armor would be ready in a week.

Exhale…

I had no idea where Amiya was but I did have an idea where I wanted to be.

Namely- the public shower.

Reason being?

I stank!

A lot.

What's worse, people around me also stank, and more than me!

Did commoners not shower!?

Anyway- it was getting kind of hot- middle of the day was never really that fun anyway.

So-

I again went up to a soldier and-

"Shower? Really?" The soldier kind of looked puzzled before turning to his friend. "Did we even have those stuff?"

The two of them were standing in bright sunlight, in heavy silver armor like it wasn't a big deal.

'Don't these people get cooked?' They were definitely drowning in sweat, so, I didn't bother asking.

"Not that I know of any. You might wanna head north to the river of Brokin and wipe yourself there. Though it could be a bit muddy and there is occasional wolf sighting so do be careful."

So yeah, long story short- commoners didn't shower and there were no public showers….

Oh well.
