Chapter 60 - Victory over Flack

[Wait, Keychantel, are you making deals with Dominant Rooks?] Veganca asked in disbelief when he realized the situation Key had just dragged him into

"Just stand witness, Vincent," Key said in a playful tone

[Alright, then, I, Vincent Sanchez, also known as Veganca of Cyanide Wolves, will stand witness to the signing of the non-disclosure agreement between Kashmiri and Flack.] Veganca said

"As he said, he'll be my witness so can we proceed?" Key asked and they started the contract signing

Both of them had a copy of the agreement, given to them in a brown envelope to keep it.

"Thanks for the help, Vince," Key said before ending the call

[No problem, I just hope you know what you're doing.] Veganca said and she ended the call

"I'll be going ahead," Key said and stood up after putting the envelope in her laptop bag

"Also, I do hope you didn't record our conversation because I won't hesitate to sue you for wiretapping if ever," Key said with a sweet smile

"Bye now," she said and led herself out of the place after pulling up her mask

She contacted someone to pick her up from there, and then she asked the driver to drive her back to the JLNC subdivision.

Meanwhile, just as Kashmiri left, the coach had just found Kashmiri's name, or what he assumes is her name.

"Where is she?" Dominant Rooks' coach asked

"She just left, why?" Flack replied

"Do you two know that she's the top board passer?" the coach asked the two

"The top board passer, what do you mean, sir?" one of the guys asked

"Angliae's top scorer in the board exam!" the coach exclaimed

"What, do you mean that brat?" Flack asked in disbelief

"Yes, not only is she saying the truth about studying law, but she also topped Angliae's board exam." The coach replied and they were all dumbfounded

"That can't be her," Flack denied

And so, he believed in his denial of the truth.

He forced himself to believe that Kashmiri coincidentally just happen to have the same name as the top scorer; Keychantel Desmond.

Meanwhile, Key headed to the post office to mail the contract to Chela, before sending a message to her that she mailed an important document to her that she has to keep and take care of while on her way back to the base.

When she arrived, it was only half past twelve meaning it only took her around seventy to eighty minutes to head to where she met with Flack, the talking about and signing of the non-disclosure agreement, mail the non-disclosure agreement, and go back to the base.

"Oh, where did you go?" Alexei asked when he saw her arrive

"Just went out to meet someone," Key said nonchalantly

"A date?" Key frowned at the question and shook her head

"Lunch is on the table," Alexei said

They headed to the dining area and everyone's there, they turned to her because she only informed Dewy and El when she went out.

Everyone else only noticed that she was gone after finishing and winning the training match against Ultimate.

"I still have ten minutes," Key kidded as she took her food on the counter

"Yeah, you still have," El chuckled and Dewy shook his head

"Where did you go, Key?" Quant asked

"I had to meet with someone for some plans," Key said while frowning

"Arrange marriage?" Rio asked and they all looked at him

"I was just guessing," he shrugged his shoulders and Key chuckled

"No, it was something else, kind of a personal plan that needed their compliance," Key replied

She started eating lunch, and after lunch, she logged into the game and sent the solo invite to Flack's official account.

When their match began, Key shook her head because Flack once again chose Foschia.

It's a solo match so in-game chat is disabled, they won't heal from the damage they received, and they can't use shields and action-controlling skills such as possession or Spiorad, which is Sournoise's skill, stunning – which is a skill unique to assassin-type shinigamis.

Key didn't know what the purpose of Flack using an assassin-type shinigami when one of its skills is not allowed, but to be fair – and by that, she meant to have a match that corresponds with her principle of fair – she chose Ausu.

They both developed their respective shinigami, and because they can't attack anywhere but in the middle, Key positioned her Ausu in the middle circle and preyed on his opponent's minions there.

As soon as Foschia was within her attack range, she used his first skill to deal damage to Foschia. Flack was riled by this sudden attack and so he charged in to attack her shinigami as well.

Their respective shinigami clashed with one another, dealing damage after damage, and the shinigami who attacked first gained the upper hand with his final attack draining the opponent.

"One – zero," Key counted in her mind as her shinigami proceeded to start dealing damage to Flack's defense tower

As soon as Flack's Foschia resurrected, Key headed back to the center of the map and preyed on the minions until her opponent is once again within her shinigami's attack range.

Flack, however, will no longer fall for the same trick she used to kill him the first time and so, even after Key dealt damage to Foschia with her Ausu he didn't attack her.

"Boring," Key complained in her mind

She knew that in terms of gaming history, Flack's history is longer and greater than hers because she only started playing five years ago while he has been playing as a substitute for two years before entering the starting lineup four years ago.

It was exactly because of this that Key is having fun tormenting Flack by mocking his gaming skills by defeating him in her rookie-in-the-field identity.

Key is starting to get bored and so she started attacking him with Ausu's long-range attack, his second skill, from the middle circle's brim, Flack soon had no choice but to clash with Key's Ausu because his Foschia is better when it comes to short-range attacks.

They clashed within the circle in the middle of the map, and Key's Ausu once again gained the upper hand and so in the moment of desperation not to let the other person get another kill, Flack had no choice but to use Foschia's ultimate skill.

This attack drained Key's Ausu's blood empty, and only Flack remained alive on the map.

He developed himself, unlike Key who started attacking the tower after she defeated her opponent, Flack developed his shinigami.

When Key's shinigami resurrected back into the map, she started attacking Foschia with a combination of her first and second skill, draining the opponent shinigami's remaining blood from their previous clash and giving her the chance to start dealing damage on the opponent's tower.

Key's Ausu leveling up from dealing damage and taking out the opponent's minions in the process of dealing damage on Flack's defense tower.

As soon as Flack's shinigami resurrected, they clashed in the center of the map again after Key ran back to the center of the map.

Their exchange of attacks became more ferocious and aggressive, especially after Key dealt damage to Flack's newly resurrected Foschia making their remaining blood equal, neither of them want to lose and have their blood drained and neither of them dared pull back from the match. In the end, Key's Ausu dominated.

"Two – one," Key scored in her mind

The resurrection time was still five seconds no matter how many times a shinigami has already died in the solo, this is because the longer a shinigami is not on the map, the longer their tower is prone to damage from the opponent. Key continued dealing damage on Flack's tower and just as she dealt the finishing blow, Flack spawned back on the map.

She ran back to the center of the map again, waiting for Flack to attack her. Key already has the upper hand in the solo match because she had already destroyed Flack's tower while hers hasn't received a single hit from the opponent, all she needs to do now to win the match is kill Flack's Foschia, which the latter won't let her do easily.

Instead of charging in, Flack remained within his side of the map to develop himself so Key had no choice but to develop herself while waiting for her opponent.

It went on for ten more minutes, Flack was aiming to make Key impatient and attack him outside the circle, into his territory but it never happened.

Although Key wants to get it over with, she doesn't really care about the passing of time because she has all the time in the world, a privilege her opponent doesn't have.

Key couldn't help but mischievously grin at the thought of those who crossed her withering of old age while she remains as young as she is now and continuously develop the skills she acquires.

In the end, it was Flack's Foschia who rushed forward and had her blood drained immediately by Ausu's second and ultimate skills, declaring Key the winner of the match.

"Ah, I win," Key playfully muttered after she saw that another bronze medal added to her current number of medals, her win rate also raised by 1 percent

"Congratulations," Key turned her head to look at the person who spoke

When she saw Rasheed looking over her screen, she immediately minimized the screen so he won't see that she just played a solo match.
