It's a brand new day, the matter between Key and Flack is over after Key's victory so there would be no more reason for Key to be affiliated with the Dominant Rooks.
She can focus on her training, and she doesn't have to fight any members of Dominant Rooks in any match now.
Or not.
"What's up?" Key asked before covering her mouth and yawning
She blinked her eyes to clear them from the liquid that blurred her vision, and she noticed that they're watching the news.
{"Breaking News, a group of professional thieves broke into the base of Dominant Rooks. According to the police report, when the whole team left the building to celebrate after their recent victory against JLNC last week, a group of professional thieves broke into their base and stole valuables."}
Key looked up and a small glint of mischievousness flashed in her eyes before it dissipated to the feigned innocence she has been used to flashing in her eyes to avoid raising suspicion from her teammates.
{"It is estimated that nearly twenty-five thousand dollars worth of property was stolen and until now the authorities are still pursuing the culprits. Everyone is guarded and reminded to lock doors and other possible passages to prevent robbery."}
"With their arrogance, it won't take a genius to think that they might've flaunted some of their properties and attracted thieves." Key said nonchalantly as she received the cup of hot chocolate from Rasheed
"For a lawyer, you're quite nonchalant at blaming victims," Rio commented
"I'm not in the courtroom, Rio, and I'm speaking as a person who has a grudge against them," Key replied innocently
The 'robbery' was clearly just a cover to divert everyone's attention so they won't look at another angle, Key won't be surprised if sooner or later Dominant Rooks will realize that the 'stolen property' were just hidden very well somewhere within their base.
Key knows that the troublemakers can make large messes that sometimes involve the authorities when they get wind of it, but they won't go as low as stealing.
Why would they need to steal when they all have millions in their accounts since they were children and they started earning hundreds of thousands since they started training under her, besides, their purpose for breaking in is not to steal, it's something else.
{"For our global news, a known company in Arcspai is officially closed after getting bankrupt. This was after they faced several lawsuits simultaneously and after their investors began pulling out their shares one by one."} The newscaster reported and a familiar logo flashed on the screen behind him
"Isn't that the company that handles Palomas Negras?" Dewy asked in surprise while drinking his cup of hot coffee
"Their stocks plummeted after their scandal," El said and leaned on the couch
"What scandal?" Bright asked in confusion
"We're not the first team that had a practice match with them where they sold the footage of the match to another team or used the agreement's loophole to make profits, so when somebody exposed that online, one thing led to another." Key replied and sipped from her hot chocolate
"All their buried issues were revealed," Rasheed said while seated beside Dewy
"Yeah, even some personal issues were exposed on the internet, and now they're facing lawsuits from several companies, those who had teams that played with them and those who don't." Alexei added
"It's a surprise that it's only reported now, it's been a while since it went viral on the internet," Key commented before sipping on her hot chocolate again and then looking at the television again
Who was it that exposed Palomas Negras and their company's issues?
The person they crossed.
Keychantel.
Although she didn't do it personally, she ordered Veloce and Brilla to dig up dirt on them and expose it on the internet, and with their skills, they managed to hack into servers and put the topic in the top searches.
It was still a surprise for her that it was only announced internationally now because their company's stock price dropped on the day Flack challenged Key.
"Is that the world's way of getting back at their misdeeds?" El couldn't help but ask because earlier it was the Dominant Rooks who seem to have been punished by the heavens for their actions, and now it's the Palomas Negras
"Karma's a bitch," Quant said making them look at him
"What? They sold our match footage to Dominant Rooks." Quant defended himself
"It's kind of surprising to hear that from you," Rio said while chuckling and Quant frowned
Because of Quant's mention of the Dominant Rooks, Key remembered that she only dealt with their off-laner, that's only one out of the five arrogant men who mocked them.
After witnessing how mortals suffered from plagues, wars, disasters, and other circumstances that lead to the loss of someone they love, she had learned to be benevolent, to punish only the person who crossed her and not anyone else unless they took a part knowingly.
If only the other members of Dominant Rooks didn't add fuel to the fire on the internet by leaving nasty remarks on the internet about them, then Key would have let them off, but they did, so they'll have their share of the punishment.
Key contacted them one by one privately last night, challenging all of them to a match against her of their choice.
Both the top-laner, Lynch, and the support, Sythe, challenged her into a solo so she sent them a blank copy of the non-disclosure agreement that she had with Flack.
She communicated with the two simultaneously and sent them a soft copy of their signed non-disclosure agreement, she can rest assured that they'll abide by the clause even without officially meeting because she has eyes and ears in their base.
As for the other two, they requested to add a clause to their agreement that states that Party B, Key, will play in Party A's field, which means that Key will be playing as mid-laner against Ratchet and as forward against Aspect.
{"Just in, the twenty-five thousand dollars worth of properties that had been reported to be stolen from the gaming base of Dominant Rooks has been found. In a post in their official account, the management of Dominant Rooks apologized for their team's irresponsibility and for mistaking the situation as robbery. Because of this, authorities are now closing the case as simple misplacement instead of robbery."} The news report took their attention
Key grinned and sipped her hot chocolate to stop herself from laughing aloud.
She can't wait to check her social media and read just how they will get roasted on social media after this ruckus, they were fooled and they played right into Key's palms.
Meanwhile, everyone else in the living room is in disbelief at the turn of events, it was as if Dominant Rooks shot themselves in the foot by reporting the incident.
"Seems like they got too attached to the limelight," Bright commented and they all sighed
"Hmm," Key hummed in agreement while still drinking her hot chocolate
After watching the news, they headed to the gaming area and prepared themselves for their training.
"Have you eaten breakfast, Key?" Alexei couldn't help but ask when he saw Key sitting on the gaming chair across his
"I'm good," Key replied
"It's bad to skip meals, Key," Rio said and Key chuckled
"Don't worry, I had hot chocolate, that's enough," Key replied and she logged into the game
After logging into the game, she received the invite from Aspect's main account. Just then, she received the confirmation from Sfentami that Ratchet is alone, and he didn't break any of the clauses of the non-disclosure agreement so she accepted it.
During the shinigami selection, Key chose Luccicare while Aspect chose Blitz, and in this version of the game, both of their choices are stronger in the early part of the game. That means that they're both aiming for a quick victory.
Key's team is composed of Fiore as mid-laner, Pylae as off-laner, Evocatrice as support, her Luccicare as Forward, and Fortiz as top-laner, meanwhile, Aspect's team is composed of Chasseur as mid-laner, Luxy as off-laner, Clypeus as support, his Blitz as Forward, and Laidir as top-laner.
When the game began, the two of them immediately clashed as soon as they met in the bottom lane, unfortunate for Aspect, the Evocatrice in Key's team immediately summoned an ogre which helped Key make Aspect's Blitz the first blood of the match.
Key developed by killing the minions in the bottom lane, and as soon as Aspect returned to the bottom lane, Key used Luccicare's first skill to deal damage to the newly resurrected Aspect.
Evocatrice used its paralyzing skill to make Aspect yield before summoning an ogre, and like earlier, Key's succeeded in taking out Aspect once again.
She didn't receive any damage from Aspect because Evocatrice summoned ogres to serve as the tanks, also she has the skill called 'Havre' that wraps her in a shield that can withstand at least 35% percent blood damage and deal equivalent damage on the opponents when broken.
The match progressed with Key draining Aspect's Blitz, slowing down its development until it's the lowest leveled shinigami on the map.
