Chapter 21 - Kingdom Of Asteria

A young fellow with a cloak around his neck casually walked into an abandoned building in the dead of night.

When the worlds are bound to be asleep and all evils are free to parade the night in whatever ways they pleased.

It's past twelve in the night so of course all evil are free to parade.

The earth felt suffocating to him as he couldn't stand being in the world that roamed around with demons, he could sense them even without them realizing they were being sensed.

A strange portal opened up in front of him, swirling around in circles while forming a loop with strong magnetic fields that was enough to suck him in.

He patiently waited for it to get wide enough before making his way in and vanishing from earth itself.

He ended up in another world, a world so different from that of humans.

The Kingdom of Asteria, they might look like humans but it's a realm of mages, a mage is not really different from witches or wizards as they too are great practitioners of magics.

The realm was made so the mages would be free to roam about without the fear of being traced by Demons.

Along with other magical beings that could be of special aid to them like fairies and the rest, excluding demons, wolves and vampires.

The human world felt too dark for them to stay in, even if they did, they'd feel too suffocated by it since the Demons had the upper hand in the human world while they would be forced to bow in defeat.

Making his way into a tall magnificent building, he paid no attention to his fellow people who tried to pass upon their greetings and just kept moving like someone who was being controlled.

His feet led him to the highest tower of the building and a man in thick royal robes, designed with golden embroidery stood at the edge, staring at the world below him with an expression that was almost impossible to read.

"You're back." His audible deep tone made the guy in a cloak take off the hoodie, revealing his face while bowing politely as a form of greeting.

"Forgive me for taking your time lord Adrik, earlier I was being chased by a wolf and a demon, I had to come up with a quick alternative to avoid my early death."

"Did they see your face?"

"I doubt, but I succeeded in killing the lady before she revealed our identity to them, the demon himself wasn't present at the alley, I didn't feel his presence."

The man finally turned around to look at him, his deep Hazel Green eyes emphasized one who had great power and authority.

The scar which ran from his left eye up to his brow already proved him to be a man of battle and his huge frame and strong biceps showed his years of training and constant battles.

Its been sixteen years since the family of Zephyr were murdered, they knew after the death of that demon that another war was sure to rise up, so they had to keep a low frame and not let the identity of the mages be revealed so quickly.

The demons and the kingdom of Asteria have been at war for thousands of years after the demons dared to murder one of their kind and invade their homes, taking the life of his people as well as their belongings, leaving his realm in a complete bloodbath.

He had equally lost his only daughter when the war refused to end, making him take a drastic step by sending her to the human world the minute she was born to keep her safe.

His wife had trouble agreeing with his decision to send their only child away but it was for the best to avoid more unnecessary bloodshed.

If those demons somehow managed to get their hands on his daughter, he was certain they would kill her for sure.

Right now he had no clue about where she was, it would have been easier to find her if her powers had already started taking effect but he felt nothing which means her powers hadn't even made itself known yet.

After the war, a line was drawn between their realm as well as the Demon realm, denying anyone entrance to each other's realm else they'd be more bloodshed.

"Lord Adrik, do you need me for anything else?" The fellow in a cloak spoke up while the confused king shook his head in response.

"No, you may leave." He was too deep in thoughts to think of any other thing at the moment.

The guy in a cloak was about to head out when he met the Queen of Asteria on the way.

He bowed in greetings while she smiled warmly at him before he turned to leave, she made her way to her husband who was lost in thoughts as she had expected, placing her hand on his shoulder to ease him the little way she could.

"What are you thinking my dear? You've been standing here for a pretty long time." She asked with a cool voice but her husband just shook his head in response, he wouldn't want to worry his wife over something as disturbing as this.

"It's nothing my dear wife, I was just thinking about ways to hold a meeting with the rest of the sages you see."

"Is that why you're so stressed? Don't burden yourself with things like this, I actually came to call you for dinner, come let's go."

"You go ahead, I'll join you."

His wife didn't need him to say exactly what was bothering him for she knew already that it concerned their missing daughter.

She was equally worried but still hasn't lost all hopes that they'll find their daughter and bring her back.

"Anxi, what are you doing?" Her grandmother curiously asked, while watching her pack some food into a small picnic basket.

"I get hungry easily grandmother and no food is actually compared to yours, so I'm taking some along with me."

Anxi didn't completely lie, her grandmother actually made the best food in the whole world but she wasn't actually packing the food for herself, her main reason for taking this food is so she could give it to her boss.

Being around him lately, she noticed he barely takes anything in the morning but never fails to drink a cup of his coffee. How does he even survive and doesn't he know it's not good to miss breakfast in the morning?

With that in mind, she packaged some of her breakfast and made it her mission to get it to him when she gets to work.

"Okay I'm running late grandmother, I have to go now."

She gave her grandmother a hearty kiss on the cheek before heading out, the old lady only smiled and continued with the kneading work she was doing.
