"Lilith knows you are no stranger."
"What?" Amon looked at her directly, but cautiously through his cow head mask. "What do you mean?"
Lilith shrugged her little shoulders, answering Amon's question that made him feel surprised with how this little girl is keen on her surroundings.
"You were there a while ago with the others. Lilith couldn't help but stare at you every now and then because of your cow head mask."
Amon didn't know how to answer. With this little girl still before him as it seemed that she had no intention to leave him alone, he wanted to tug his hair with both of his hands, not knowing what to do.
'Leave me alone, please... or I might lose my mind and run away to leave you alone!'
"So..."
Lilith spoke again, this time walking a few steps closer to Amon.
"Why are you wearing cow head mask? Lilith asks you this question the third time."
Amon groaned, tipping his head up. It made the snout of his mask point at the sky, making Lilith giggle as she found the view funny.
"It's weird. Lilith thinks you're ugly that's why you're hiding your face."
Hearing this, Amon couldn't help but look at her through his mask. If only he wasn't wearing it, Lilith would see how he arched a brow at her statement as he didn't like what she said.
"You said it's rude for people to be ignored. Aren't you being rude for making such a remark?"
"Oh!"
Lilith gasped, making her cuter as she immediately touched her mouth with both of her hands in an attempt to shut herself up. The little girl spoke again, her voice heard even though she talked softly.
"Lilith didn't mean to... Lilith is sorry. But Lilith was honest. Doesn't that make Lilith a good girl?"
This time, Amon found himself about to laugh. As he stifled his laughter as he never laughed with anyone before, his lips turned into a tight line.
He was trying his best not to burst into laughter but with his body turning stiff and his shoulders moving up and down, Lilith made another remark that made him smile instead.
"Are you okay?" she asked, her brows knitting together in worry. "Are you not in the best mood? You have stomach ache? Lilith knows where the restroom is. You can go poopoo there."
That does it. Amon already laughed out loud. With him already grinning ear to ear, Lilith laughed along with him even though she was unsure of what the Grim Reaper was laughing about.
The Grim Reaper already had his hand on his stomach, Amon talking in between his laughter.
"Geez... children... are really... innocent."
Lilith didn't understand what he meant, but she smiled, now asking another question.
"What's your name?"
"Hm?"
Amon's laughter now ceased. With the little girl asking him his name, he now was suddenly pulled into his own thoughts.
'Is this okay?'
He wondered if it is alright to tell Lilith his name. Heck, he wondered right here and then if it is okay to interact with her.
Amon promised himself since the very beginning that he will fulfill the wishes of Lilith's mother. He even promised himself that she will not be harmed and will secretly watch over her from afar.
The Grim Reaper could actually choose to leave her in any orphanage found in the human world. However, he even thought the possibility of Lilith being adopted into the wrong family.
He even imagined the possibility of her being an outcast! Imagine how people might treat her once they see her light blue hair and unique heterochromia trait with an unusual color in itself.
Yellow and green? Who has that? Usually it's any mixture of the colors blue, green, gray, black, or brown.
But yellow? How?
Amon couldn't even explain her natural light blue hair color! Upon inspection, the mother is brunette. Amon doesn't have a single clue as to who the father is, either!
That's why it is best that Amon brought him to the Kingdom of Gehenna. At least he knows where Lilith is and at least he knows that she could be taken care of by people he trusts.
If he was taken care of by Eucraick, Amon knew that they will also accept Lilith wholeheartedly.
They may be a kingdom for demons and demoness... but that doesn't make them heartless at all.
That is a complete stereotype in itself.
"Hello?"
Amon realized that he had been quiet for far too long. With Lilith calling his attention once more, she narrowed her eyes at him and even clumsily crossed her arms in front of her chest!
"You're ignoring Lilith again..."
"Oh!"
This time, the Grim Reaper felt guilty. Not to make her feel bad, he thought that it may not be a bad idea to make her feel better and to interact with her for at least a short time.
Amon squatted in front of Lilith. As his hand extended towards her, he patted her head, formally introducing himself to little Lilith.
"My name is Amon. Nice to meet you."
"Almond!" Lilith's eyes sparkled as she attempted to say his name, making the Grim Reaper chuckle lightly. "Nice to meet you Almond!"
"No, no..." Amon then spoke, saying his name once more to correct her. "Amon."
"A... mon..."
"Lilith!"
Now, a familiar voice came into the place. With Sicily now panting as she seemed to be running around the area, she sighed in relief when she saw Lilith by the fountain.
"Ah! Mama Sicily!"
The maid approached the Grim Reaper and the little girl. She panted in between breaths, scolding Lilith at the same time.
"Now... what did I... tell you... about going somewhere without telling me!?"
"Oh..." Lilith pouted. She knew that she indeed do something wrong. "Lilith is sorry... Lilith couldn't sleep."
"Geez..."
Sicily let out another sigh, now reaching out to her hand which the little girl held without hesitation.
"I'm sorry, Amon." Sicily apologized, almost forgetting that he's there with them. "I should look after her but--"
"No worries." Amon interrupted, immediately turning his back away from them as he is now cautious of his powers now that there are two people in front of him. "Just... keep your eyes on her from now on."
And with that, Amon immediately left without even saying a proper goodbye to Lilith.
The little girl pouted, wondering when she could ever see him again...
