Chapter 14 - Girl's Code

"Your highness, wait on!"

In Ha found herself running. Where was she? She couldn't understand nor could she stop running. Looking back, three younger women were chasing after her as if to stop but she was faster.

However, there was something strange about the women chasing after her, they were all dressed in hanbok. It wasn't until the early twentieth century that the hanbok fell out of fashion. So why would they wear one?

But then, looking down, she was wearing one as well. That was when it dawned on In Ha that she was having a dream. Of all dreams, why this one? It didn't make sense at all.

In Ha couldn't control any of her actions here, if anything, the dream was the one controlling her. Hence she ran until she bumped hard into somebody and stumbled back.

"Aww," She cried out, rubbing her head. How could somebody's body be so strong? And then she looked up with resentment, hoping to give that person a piece of her mind only for her to see him and say, "Your Majesty,"

"Your majesty?" The real In Ha questioned in her head. Doesn't that term refer to the king or something? Filled with curiosity, she lifted her head to see the majesty's face but then she couldn't see a thing.

Like literally nothing. It was like the saying, the more you look, the less you see. The sun's rays made it impossible for her to decipher what he looked like.

Suddenly, the women chasing after her caught up to her. While still trying to catch their breath, they all bowed to the same man, "Your majesty, we're sorry. We didn't know when her majesty Queen In Ha snuck out,"

Huh? Who's Queen In Ha? Was she Queen In Ha by chance? No, that can't be possible.

"That's alright," His majesty said and In Ha could sense that he had a rich and kind voice. If only she could see his face.

"Escort the young queen to her quarters, it's dangerous to run around the palace unchecked," He commanded.

"Yes, your majesty," All three women said, bowing their heads before each of them grabbed onto In Ha's side and began to lead her away.

In Ha didn't protest and let them take her away. However, she looked above her shoulder at the last minute, hoping to see what the stranger looked like at least, she bet he was handsome.

And God answered her prayer because the king did turn around. However, before she could see his face now, In Ha woke up from her dream with a soft gasp. She looked around her surroundings and groaned, she was back to earth.

"Why now?" She hit her head back against the pillow. If she had just looked a little faster, she would have seen his face. And why was she so bothered about a dream. Except that this wasn't the first time she had such dreams.

Although it wasn't frequent, In Ha could swear that she was living a second life. She hardly sees the faces of the main characters in her dream but there was some sort of deep feeling inside of her that tells her that she had actually lived that life. Or maybe, she's slowly losing her mind.

Unable to sleep anymore, plus the fact that it was morning already, In Ha pried away from Gwen's octopus-like grip around her waist. The girl was so clingy while asleep while Allison was the worst sleeper in history - she kicks and rotates like a helicopter blade on the bed.

She was stuck between the both of them in bed, so In Ha released herself from both of their entanglement and was careful enough not to wake them. She then stepped out of bed and wasn't surprised to see that Helen crashed on the rug.

All of them had been so drunk last night that they possibly couldn't distinguish between their right and left. Else, Helen would know there were other rooms and would find a bed to sleep on. Nor would Gwen and Allison oppress her in the little space knowing that the bed wouldn't accommodate all three of them since they were bad sleepers. Nonetheless, the night was over, and welcome to a new day - with lots of hangovers.

In Ha moaned, hand wrapped around her stomach as she trudged to the kitchen. The hangover was worse than she thought because her head was pounding while her muscles ached, not to mention her sensitivity to light this morning.

She went to the fridge and pulled out a sports drink. That should help, she reasoned and twisted the cap open, gulping down the drink. In Ha drank till she felt full and closed the fridge only to receive the shock of her life.

"Jesus!" In Ha screamed, startled upon seeing Christian who just came out of nowhere and that was creepy, "Don't scare me like that again," In Ha warned him, clawing at the empty air.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," Christian apologized, putting up his hands defensively.

"Better," In Ha retorted and headed to the counter, placing her sports drink on it. She had only drunk half of it and intended to finish it all. She needed the energy.

Christian followed after her, and leaned against the counter saying, "You are quite intense this morning?"

"Well, a hangover does that to you. Ugh, I feel like ripping out somebody's head this morning," She said, only to notice him shift away from her a little.

In Ha chuckled upon seeing the gesture, "Don't worry, it wouldn't be you, as long as you don't provoke me." She said and then took notice of his appearance.

"You're leaving?"

"Yes," Christian said, "I figured out that it's a good idea to leave before she wakes to avoid the embarrassment since it's her first time. But don't worry, I left a note," He added, "Without my number on it. I hope that's good enough."

"No, it's okay. You're just a one-night stand and I absolutely don't mean it in a bad way," In Ha told him.

"No offense taken," He nodded.

"I can't pay you since that would only be insulting, so all I can say is thank you for giving my best friend a good night."

"You can thank me over a meal then,"

"What?"

Christian looked at her seriously, "I'm saying, we could meet up or something like that?"

"Oh," In Ha got the point and she sniffed, rubbing her finger across her nose. She then lifted her head and looking Christian straight in the eyes, she said to him,

"I'm sorry, but I don't date guys who screw my best friend. It's a girl's code thing."
