As the two were about to leave the administration building, the ground started shaking violently.
Beastly roars echoed through the hallways, leaving Ivan pale with fright.
"Uh,uncle, is it just me that can hear dozens of vicious beasts roaring outside the building?" Intimidated, Ivan asked Calvin.
"Uhhh…" Not only did Calvin hear the roars, he could even perceive their presence with his magic.
There were in fact 40 plus magical beasts of the 4th stage and above running around the academy grounds.
But instead of being vicious beasts, they were magical beasts bred and raised by the academy themselves.
Calvin knew this because he was a researcher for draconic type magical beasts here in Jumper Academy and that walking his guinea pigs was a must.
So in this case, those 40 plus magical beasts around the academy were currently part of a walk, a very large one at that.
The roars continued to echo throughout the academy.
The more roars Ivan heard from a distance, the more pale he had become. Calvin on the other hand, couldn't do anything about it.
He wasn't an expert in sound magic nor was he competent at light magic. He couldn't block out the beastly roars with his dragon claws nor could he soothe Ivan's heart with his dragon wings.
At that moment, Calvin felt helpless. He was a sage who was only good at magical combat after all.
Thus, Calvin could only shove Ivan along in hopes that they could escape the range of the beastly roars quickly.
10 minutes later…
The two have successfully escaped the bombardments of loud beastly roars and have managed to reach the student dormitory.
Ivan revealed a look of shock when he realized the full scale of his dorm. "Woah, this is the dorms? No way, this…this is a mansion!"
"Yeah, this sorry excuse for a brick bunker is your home now. Tch, the foul smell of sweat still reeks! Anyways, your dorm's room number is 403 that's on the 4th floor. Remember to knock before you enter your dorm room." [Calvin]
"Why?" [Ivan]
"To let your roommate be prepared of course." [Calvin]
"Wait, I thought I was living alone? I'm going to live with a stranger from now on?" [Ivan]
"Yeah, that's what you get when you sign up to study at this school." [Calvin]
"Oh, okay then. I'll get going now. Bye, uncle!" Ivan waved goodbye to Calvin before he picked up his baggage and entered the dormitories.
Upon entering the main lobby, Ivan was stunned once again.
"Holy bubblegum, the main lobby is a hall by itself! There's a coffee shop to my right, and a sports field to my left….This place is huge!" The boy marveled in surprise.
From the outside, the dormitory seemed to be very big while the lobby looked small and cramped. But that was not the case here.
The main lobby was a giant hall decorated with beautiful artwork of myriad beings. Ivan recognized a few of the paintings that had dragons and phoenixes but remained unsure of the rest.
Whatever they were, the boy revealed a look of awe.
Moving on, Ivan saw students of varying ages zip past him with incredible speeds. Some students were using magic, while others rode on mechanical beasts of all shapes and sizes.
Nobody had the time nor the energy to even glance at Ivan, much less greet him or even say a 'hello'. But the boy didn't care either, he was just glad no one wanted to pick a bone with him.
Ivan soon found the stairs near the entrance to a metallic box that moves upwards and downwards.
It took him a few minutes to reach the 4th floor despite the 1st floor and the main lobby was divided by a hundred steps of stairs.
And instead of being tired from all that climbing, Ivan was filled to the brim with energy.
Without wasting another second, the boy made his way to his dorm room by following the signs placed on the 4th floor.
It was only after he had arrived in front of the door did he realize something. He had forgotten to take his room key out of the gift bag.
The gift bag was with his caretaker too.
'Oh crap. Do I just knock and ask my roommate to open the door? Will they believe me that I'm their roommate without any proof? What happens if they think I'm sort of an idiot for forgetting to take the room key out?' Questions began rushing into Ivan's head.
His palms were sweaty, knees weak, and he felt like throwing up the spaghetti he had eaten this morning.
His mind was about to burst from overthinking when Leviathan's voice resounded within his ears like a soothing bell.
'Hold your horses, child. Stop overthinking and calm down. Yes, you're dumb for forgetting to take out the keys just now…And yes, your roommate will probably think of you as someone who's forgetful…But do know this, you're the child I, the King of Water Dragons, decided to befriend. If bullshitting is the way to calm you down, then I shall bullshit my way till the end of time!...' [Leviathan]
Leviathan used his own spiritual energy to slow down time within Ivan's mind, before he proceeded to give the boy an hour-long talk about why he should not overthink things.
'And that is why men should not overthink things. Even if we were to fall into depression and want to show weakness, society will ignore our pains and ask us to man up, understand?' [Leviathan]
Ivan silently nodded his head.
'Good. I'll return the time to you now.' [Leviathan]
Following that, time flowed normally again and the boy regained his senses shortly after.
But just as he was about to knock, his room's door swung open from the inside before a young girl appeared before him.
'A girl? This must be my roommate.' He thought to himself.
Alas, the girl didn't give Ivan time to introduce himself as she immediately twisted her body before sending a kick towards Ivan's face.
This move did catch Ivan off guard for a moment but that was it.
He quickly regained his composure before he dodged the girl's attack by ducking under her kick.
"Wait, I'm Ivan and I'm your roommate–"
He wasn't able to finish his sentence when the girl unleashed another quick kick at his chest.
