Chapter 15 - Half Success

"28 Phases of the Roaring Moon, 1st phase, Roaring Moon Fist!"

When Ivan was only a meter away from the stone wall, the boy gathered all of the remaining strength left in his tiny body into his right fist before he released a punch at the wall's cracked surface.

"Bam!" Although the punch was not powerful enough to destroy the stone wall, the stone wall still shook immensely from the fist's impact.

"I have achieved half success!" Ivan let out a hearty laugh when he saw the results.

He had been stuck within the 10th room of Insanity Hell for 5 days now, figuring out a way to recreate the martial arts he had read about in novels and pass this test.

Thus began Ivan's series of experiments.

It took Ivan 32 experiments to figure out which novels' martial arts were the easiest and most stable to recreate.

The answer he came to was the 28 Phases of the Roaring Moon, a mystic realm martial arts created by the protagonist, Roaring Moon Emperor himself.

But when he was about to celebrate when he thought he had found the answer to his problem, Chaos reminded him to not celebrate that early.

'The name of the martial arts you chose to recreate is the 28 Phases of the Roaring Moon, correct? Judging by the name, aren't there 28 different styles within the martial art itself? How would you know which style would solve your problem without testing them all first?'

"Ah! You're right! I had completely forgotten about the phases!" Ivan knocked his head for forgetting something so important.

From the first phase, Roaring Moon Fist to the 28th phase, Roaring Moon Overturns The Heavens, Ivan was clueless about which phase can be recreated perfectly to break the stone wall.

Because the martial art Roaring Moon Emperor created was developed throughout his whole life, the 1st three phases could be learnt by mortals while the last five phases of the 28 phases can only be learnt by supreme experts.

Ivan was by no means an ordinary mortal, yet he was also not a supreme expert who had created his own legacy.

"Alright! I've figured it out! I need to conduct more experiments on which phases I can and cannot recreate using his creation arts! Leviathan, Examiner Lucas, please watch over me as I conduct another series of experiments!" Ivan calmed himself down again before declaring loudly.

After having recorded down the results of using Roaring Moon Fist at the stone wall, Ivan decided to take a break.

The boy went over to a corner of the room before he sat down in a cross legged position. With Controlled Breathing running passively in the background, his breathing became slow and steady.

"Ba dup…Ba dup…Ba dup…"

Ivan closed his eyes so that he could focus on the sound of his heartbeat.

"Calm, I am calm…I am calm–"

Before he could finish his words however, his consciousness was suddenly pulled into his own sea of consciousness.

There, he was met with a red holographic screen with golden words displayed on it.

[Welcome to your sea of consciousness! I am your personal system that will help you get stronger! I am the Martial Dao System!]

"Calm?" Ivan had yet to process anything when messages started springing up like mushrooms after the rain.

"What…what is all of this?!" Ivan was speechless at the flood of messages that his brain stopped working for a moment.

But because Controlled Breathing and Calm Mind were still active, the two skills prevented Ivan fainting from shock.

It didn't even take a full minute for Ivan to revert back to his childlike playful state.

"Woah...a system! It's an actual system! I've read about weaklings getting systems to grow stronger and collect myriad treasures till they become the strongest person in their respective worlds but, I didn't think I'd get a system as well! Woah!"

Ivan couldn't hide his excitement as he marveled at the Martial Dao System. But then a thought hit him.

"Wait a minute, I thought only people who are in powerless or life threatening situations will get systems…Why do I have a system then? I don't think I'm in a hopeless situation though?"

As Ivan pondered about the reason the Martial Dao System appeared before him, Chaos and Leviathan were watching the boy's every action from afar.

"Hehehe, the boy might be smart in thinking things through and having an open mind, but he is clearly lacking in other areas. Acceptance of reality is one of them." Chaos saw Ivan's earlier reactions and commented.

Chaos remembered when he first got his system. He too, was but a child not older than 8, when a holographic screen appeared in front of him.

He was not in danger nor had he hit rock bottom. The system had simply chosen him out of fate and Chaos accepted it without thinking too much about it.

He then became the strongest being in his own universe with the help of his system.

Heck, not even now did Chaos question why a system was bestowed upon him.

So seeing the confused Ivan trying to get to the bottom of his own system, Chaos was really tempted to go over there and slap the host of the body.

"Hold it in, Chaos. Do not let this child anger you. You'll only grow more sensitive if you get triggered at everything this child does." Leviathan flatly replied.

Although Levithan had never possessed a system before, it understood the mystical powers of one.

After all, the King of Water Dragons was once trapped within Chaos's system, forced to become the paladin's familiar without asking for its consent first.

All in all, systems are mythical items.

Both Chaos and Leviathan understood this well. Even Ivan understood this point, but he's a little curious to say the least.
