The village people looked at the giant wall of fire and were grinning from ear to ear. It was obvious that they were the culprits.
But they didn't seem satisfied with the result and kept on splashing the lamp oil on the ship which was covered with the wall of flames, causing an increase in the intensity of the fire, due to which their grin increased even more.
"Hahaha! That's what that bastard deserves! What are you waiting for, bring more lamps and oil."
"Yes!", some of them turned back, deciding to head back to their huts to get some more lamps.
As they lived on an isolated island and didn't have much means of communication with other lands, the only way for them to get the oils was by buying them from the merchants.
As they didn't have much use for oils, they only bought sufficient amounts for lamps that could last for a month, until the next batch of merchants arrived.
