The Bible mentions how God spoke to Moses directly, but also warned that seeing God's face would be fatal because no man can survive it. This idea seems metaphorical, describing an in-person meeting rather than through technology like phones or email.
An interpretation could be that they were in close physical proximity. For instance, consider two people, Timothy and Jonathan. Jonathan, due to insecurities, always hides his face from Timothy using a bag. Despite meeting face-to-face, Jonathan's face remains hidden, illustrating a scenario where two individuals are close yet one person's face is concealed.
Similarly, Maya and Maria offer another example. Maya possesses invisibility, making her unseen when she meets Maria. While they are indeed in the same room, Maria can't see Maya, even though Maya sees Maria.
These examples highlight situations where people are physically together, but one person can't see the other's face due to invisibility or hiding behind a mask. Metaphorically, Moses might have been "face-to-face" with God, yet unable to see God's face, possibly indicating that God was present but not visible to human eyes.
