When Fabian opened his eyes, he was still in the dark chamber. But he didn't feel an evil presence surrounding him. "Where are those... things" he said, looking left and right repeatedly anxiously. Just thinking about the creatures made him quiver.
He slowly got up and moved around. His body no longer felt weak and mutilated. Fabian peeled of a band aid from his left shoulder, revealing a dot of blood tinged slightly green. He threw it away carelessly, cautiously moving away from the bed.
The chamber looked as if nothing took place. The dead bodies of the group of scientists had also disappeared. "What happened here?!" Fabian spat, a look of madness in his eyes.

The long string of notifications suddenly appeared followed by the Ding, one after another, in his line of sight. Fabian furrowed his brows as he read through each of the messages. "So I levelled up?" he asked, a small smile crept across his face.
The stress and confusion quickly melted away when he saw the familiar looking System Interface appear in front of him. He quickly checked his stats and skills page page:

Fabian looked at the new Skill he learnt. "Inspect huh?"
But he was still confused as to why the System looked like a gaming System. He had never owned a VRMMORPG before, but he knew a bit about it from the few people that owned it from his school and from old instructions manuals that got thrown out.
He also noticed the new tab called {Quests} next to the {Stats} and {Skills} tabs. He clicked it enthusiastically, a semblance of curiosity in his appearance. After a strange animation played, the {Quests} tab was highlighted. The screen changed from the [Skills] to [Quests]
[Quests Page]
[Available Daily Quests: None]
[Available Unique Quest: None]
[Available Special Quest: None]
"I wonder how you receive quest?" Fabian muttered. As soon as he asked, there was a response from the System:
[Host can receive {Daily Quests} in 24 hours]
[Host can receive {Unique Quests} through [Unknown] actions]
[Host can receive {Special Quests} through [Unknown] actions]
"Huh, ok..." he mumbled, dismissing the {Quests} tab and leaving the chamber. He looked around the unusually dark room for the exit to the facility. He soon stumbled upon a door that led outside. He took one last look at the chamber where twenty four hours of horror took place that looked as if it was built a few days ago before opening the door.
Light flooded it, momentarily blinding Fabian. It reminded him that he had not seen natural light for a whole day. He had a dark look on his face. He shielded his eyes before stepping into his hometown, Elvia. There was not a soul in sight although the sun had fully risen.
"That's unusual!" he whispered before he started to run towards home. He nearly forgot that it was Monday and school would start in a couple hours. As he bolted through the streets, Fabian didn't meet anyone.
Elvia town was not a well-known town compared to the futuristic, technologically advanced cities that surrounded it. Fabian had lived in Elvia his whole life hence why he had not seen the beauty of the bigger and better cities outside. He noticed something strange as he slowed down when he saw his flat up ahead.
