Sophie woke up that day with euphoria filled in her. Maybe it was due to the fact that Lucy, her cat didn't scratch her that night. Or maybe something good was about to happen.
Sophie had 2 secrets. One was that she is a selkie. Selkies are magical creatures, magical and mysterious.
Originally, there were just female Selkies who used to lure men into their worlds to mate with them. Later on, as ages progressed, Selkies started giving birth to male kids which led to male Selkies embracing the face of earth.
They are blessed to have otherworldly beauty and some magical powers. They can either stay as seals or turn into their human forms.
Such was Sophie, who was living in the human world because if she goes back, she might cause her world to collapse. In her mind, she's waiting to meet somebody from whom she can take her coat one day.
In selkie culture, when somebody hand their lover the lover's coat, they get married. Marrying a selkie was a different deal for everyone. It depends if both of them are selkies or one of them is human or another powerful creature.
Humans, Sophie loved humans. That is the sole reason that she came to the human world when her father suggested her to hide.
Off course he will not send his daughter to live alone, so he sent her with a group of powerful selkies.
"What about we go to another club" suggested Carl as he wriggled his eyebrows. As powerful as he was, he still had his weakness, women.
"Save it Carl. I'm not dealing with another woman throwing sandals in our apartment" Serena rolled her eyes at him.
"That was just one time and I promise this time I will find a woman who doesn't fall in love at the first sight" shrugged Carl. Thankfully his selkie genetics got him enough women otherwise this guy would've lost his soul purpose in life.
"You do remember that you're still not over your hangover right" Steven raised an eyebrow. Steven should've been the head of this group because of his brains and his power.
"I stand with Steven" Sophie exclaimed. Going to a club while she's still hungover was probably the last thing in her mind.
"Yeah, that's what he wished" snickered Toby.
Everybody could see that Steven liked Sophie. Well everybody but Sophie.
"Shut up" Sophie rolled her eyes as she got up from the table to throw away her empty disposable cup.
This cafe has her heart and even if she's not really a fan of big places, this place feels like home to her.
"I'll be back" says Sophie after she got up.
"Don't bother, we' were just about to leave anyways, meet us outside" says Serena as he hands Sophie her cup.
"Yes mine too" Carl hands over his cup aswell. Just as Sophie was about to protest, Steven gets up taking his, Carl's and Toby's cups as he joins Sophie to throw away them.
"Hey Sophie" Steven stammers. He has practised this part over a hundred times in his head but when he needs to finally say this, his tongue has betrayed him.
"Hey Steven" Sophie acknowledges him as she throws the cans.
"I was thinking, maybe we should go to the new Thai restaurant that has opened last weekend." Heat washes up Steven's neck as he hurriedly delivers his speech.
"Yeah, that's a great idea. Serena loves thai" Sophie smiles innocently. The same smile Steven has been obsessing over.
They reach the table they were earlier sitting on to pick up their coats.
"I mean, just the two of us." Steven blurts.
Finally understanding what he means, Sophie gets shocked. Yes she liked him, but as a friend.
Her coat falls from her hands and she looks at him absent mindedly.
"Yeah that, that's a, that's a nice idea" Sophie mentally slaps herself. She should definitely tell him the way she feels about him rather than leading him on but she can't help it. She can't help but not break his heart.
"Hey, I think you dropped this" a voice calls from behind Sophie as she turns to look at him.
A guy the face of an angel was standing behind her with her coat in his hands. His chocolate brown hair was shining under the sunlight. His honey brown eyes gorgeous combined with his semi tanned skin.
Sophie forgot how to talk for a minute.
She extends her hands to take the coat and the guy infront of her looks at her shocked. That is when she breaks out of his charm.
He just handed her, her coat. And she took it! Her eyes go wide in realisation. This guy literally just married her.
Happiness overfills her as she takes in his strong features and strong body. He looked everything she could have hoped for, if not better.
Heat crepts up her face and she starts blushing profusely. "Tha-thanks" she stammers.
The guy kept looking at her in awe.
Her body starts heating up. She was suddenly so shy she couldn't even look him in the eyes.
Nervousness takes a hold of her and she runs off. Away from the person she just married.
The shocked guy is left there with Steven and before he could ask Steven anything, Steven sprints off behind Sophie.
