"Jesus Christ why are you such a fucking freak!"
A loud slam sounded in the classroom as books and chocolates were tossed from a desk.
Book. Chocolate. Book. Chocolate.
The mess covered the ground in disarray, but none of the other twenty-one kids in the room made a move to pick them up.
In the high school classroom, not a single sound could be heard above the screeching of a teenage boy. His cheeks showed off a harsh flush against his pale skin under the translucent light of the spacious classroom windows.
Not a teacher could be seen in sight leaving the children completely to their own devices.
Normally, that wouldn't be too much of an issue, until a boy finally built the balls to ask out the class weirdo.
Lilac Porter.
Now the entire room was filled with laughter as he awkwardly stood in front of the girl ignoring him.
"Yo-you bitch! Are you-.." the boy drew in a large breath as he tried to finish his statement. The finger he was pointing started to shake.
At the end of the shaking finger sat a small figure of a girl covered in oversized clothing. Her face could be considered rather pretty, but with the pale color, malnourished cheek bones, and white hair. She looked otherworldly… in a not so good way.
Her head was resting on her hand resulting in her white blonde hair cascading over her shoulder and onto her face.
Two large doe like eyes, peeked out beneath the strings of hair.
Would he break out in tears next?
The girl mused quietly as she pretended to stare out the window. In the reflection she could see the unknown teen grabbing his chest from expiration.
It had been ten minutes of him trying to get her attention, normally they would go away in the first three.
Large dark blue eyes stared mournfully at the mess resting on the cold ground.
'That book was actually getting good…'
"Do you think you are better than me or some shit!" Finally, the boy managed to heave out his next statement. His devastated state drew sympathy as his friend got up to pat his back.
"Come on Ryan, Lilac is a freaking mute. I know she is a little cute, but think with your head not your dick for once man." The friend laughed as he heavily patted Ryan's back.
A couple of other boy's laughed as well and made comments mocking the flushed teenager.
"Dude the bitch is a ret***ed orphan! Her own parents didn't want her! She isn't worth it- hahaha- fucking Ryan- hahaha!"
Ryan's flush became more and more severe at his friend's mocking.
Thankfully, his embarrassment was brought to a beautiful end by the loud class ending bell from the speakers.
On reflex, Lilac brought her eyes from the book and grabbed her bag to get out of her seat. She glanced at Ryan who was standing like a statue in front of her and then at the book at the ground.
'To go for it or to not go for it…'
A tough decision caused her sharp eyebrows to wrinkle up. From her expression you would think she was solving a chemistry problem rather than deciding to pick up a book!
However, Before she could come to a decision, a large hand roughly grabbed her wrist.
Lilac was a homebody, she preferred to stay in bed reading than to go out, with the edition of the sparse food at the orphanage, she didn't have the power to resist.
"Lilac! Look at me. I've loved you since ninth grade, we are seniors now and I still love you!" Ryan's voice started to break toward the end of his statement.
"Why won't you even give me a chance?! I've passed you notes for four years, I've sat next to you nearly every class. But, still you act like I don't exist. Do you think I am that bad?"
Finally, Ryan got a reaction out of lilac as her lips tilted down into an uncomfortable grimace. She tried to twist free of his grasp that was definitely bruising her arm.
Her eyes looked at the teenager's face who had started sweating from emotions. The cold sweat dripped down from dark hair on to a pale forehead. Yet, for her when she looked down farther she couldn't register anything.
In fact, her mind hurt even trying. Lilac pupils dilated from over-stressing as she closed her eyes and looked away.
Facial blindness had been a constant in her life for a long time, one of the biggest reasons that she always tried to avoid situations like this one.
She would be weird if she tried to interact with people or if she didn't. At least avoiding it all together didn't make her head hurt so much.
She sighed in her heart, hearing the teenage boy start tearing up in front of her.
She truly felt bad for the youngster who she rejected in front of everyone, but it was better for him to get over this as soon as possible.
Did she know he had been sitting next to her for four years? Not really, to be fair, with the addition of facial blindness she zoned out very easily.
She would never be a good fit to date.
Feeling terrible for the youth that was being rejected without explanation after four years, Lilac reached up and patted his back with her free hand.
Did she think he was weird for still liking her for four years without ever having a single conversation? Yes! But, then again who was she to judge?
She barely interacted with people, how could she completely know what was normal and what wasn't.
"I'm sorry." Her voice was feminine and soft, yet carried a shake from not being used for some time.
The boy froze completely, his eyes stared wide at the girl he hadn't heard speak in over four year.
In his mind all he could process was that Lilac was finally speaking to him!
The grip on her thin wrist was loosened from the shock and the feeling of blood returning to her hand made her feel numb.
The teenager opened his mouth as a smile grew on his face. Was she just shy because the entire class was here?
That would make sense, why else would someone like herself be so picky. The teenager's anger died down as he quickly tied together his story.
However, before he could bath in the bittersweet feeling, his expectations were crushed by her following statement.
"I'm really sorry sir, but I don't know who you are."
Lilac shook her head cluelessly as she finished patting the teenagers back.
Talking about her conditions in the past would result in her foster parents giving her a one way ticket to the orphanage; therefore, she preferred to act as normal as possible.
At an old age, she no longer cared about being adopted obviously, yet the trauma still weighed on her mind. She clarified the most she was willing to clarify, hopefully he will understand.
Lilac bowed her head formally, "excuse me," before she navigated around the large teen to grab her books off the floor.
"You think you could do better?" Behind Lilac the teen spoke in a quiet voice of growing anger.
All of the anger before, stopped when she spoke, but came back at full force filling his head with a madness.
By liking her, he was doing her a favor!
She was poor, a mute, with no kind of upbringing. Who gave her the right to reject him?!
Lilac, who was already in a leaning motion to grab her books off the ground, didn't even notice the building danger behind her.
It wasn't until a powerful force pushed her forward that she understood what was happening.
But, she couldn't do anything.
She didn't expect it.
Her long platinum hair flew in her face as her arms went forward to try to stabilize herself.
Unfortunately, her reaction time was slow.
Nothing was there to lighten the fall as her fragile skull hit the edge of a nearby desk. A cold sense of pain filled her body and before she knew it she was resting on the ground.
Chocolate. Books. Chocolate. Books. Blood.
She was in a daze as she took in the scene.
She couldn't hear her surrounding anymore as a loud buzzing sounded in her ear.
Eighteen years she suffered in waiting for the day she would be free from the orphanage.
Eighteen entire years.
Just to die from teenage hormones.
If there was a god in this world, she wanted a refund.
