When you opened your eyes, you were greeted by the white tiles of your makeshift room inside Aizawa's spare bedroom. You blinked a few times looking around gathering your scattered thoughts.
'Really...again-?' The thought blew through your brain before you were ready to deal with yourself. '-I have to do this again?'
You pulled yourself from bed, wandering your way downstairs to find Aizawa sitting at his table, hands folded. You tilted your head, seeing he was in deep thought.
"(y/n)-" Aizawa quickly got up, having noticed you. "-your awake." Aizawa noted how you didn't wear your jacket like normal. You wore your cargo pants and simple shirt, was this progress? Or was he simply fishing?
"So-" Aizawa stepped forward, his mind spinning having no idea how to confront you. "-uh-um...due to your probation...you have to be within a certain distance from me."
You furrowed your brow wondering why he was spelling out common sense shit you already knew so early in the morning.
"A-And-" Aizawa was kicking himself, why was he so nervous!? "-tomorrow I am returning to teaching." When he saw you made no influx of emotion he continued, "Which means...you have to go...with...me."
This caused your brows to pull together as your eyes sharpened.
"What?" You blinked, almost questioning if you heard him right.
"You have to be with me or another approved pro-hero until your probation is up."
"Which actually is when?" You questioned, Aizawa could hear the bitterness in your voice.
"When the investigation is over."
"Who is leading this investigation?" You shifted your weight to your good leg.
"You already met them." Aizawa muttered, annoyed Eizo Tanuma got his hands on your case once again.
"What if I say no-?" You felt like pressing boundaries. "-to go with you to your little school?"
"Either you go with me, or you sit inside a jail cell until the investigation has been concluded." Aizawa matched your tone, neither of you breaking stiff eye contact.
"Not much different than what I have been doing."
"If you go-" Aizawa pulled words from his ass, "-Shiro and Gray will follow." He had no idea if this threat would influence you.
After a moment you ended the standoff, turning on your heel, leaving Aizawa standing in the living room unsure of your decision.
Aizawa exhaled not having realized he was holding in a breath, he turned looking around the empty room after a moment of questioning himself he settled on grading papers he had been putting off.
Time played with Aizawa's clock, by the time he glanced over to the annoying contraption, hours had flown by. Aizawa sat his pen down, stretching his arms above his head as he stood wondering what you have been up to all this time.
He strolled to your room, running through the countless questions he could ask you as he pushed open the door. His chest eased, seeing you asleep. Aizawa moved to the bed, picking up the neatly folded blanket, covering you before quietly leaving the room. He didn't understand why you never slept under the blankets.
You woke up once during the middle of the night, crawling from the bed getting a flash of annoyance as the blanket tangles your legs together. You found the leftovers Aizawa placed in the microwave for you. He didn't want to wake you when he prepared dinner, since he knew you healed faster in your sleep.
You sat in the silence while eating, your eyes glanced over to the chair Aizawa always sat in, a ping in your chest caused you to get up, tossing the plate in the sink you walked back to the room all the while Aizawa laid awake in his bed listening to you walk around the house, hand above his head having felt the same ping in his chest when he sat alone.
----
Morning slammed into you like a truck when Aizawa woke you. You felt like you had been run over by a semi. Your shoulder and leg ached in pain as you slid your jacket on and followed Aizawa from the house. You struggled to stay awake during the drive, Aizawa chopped it up to your body finally having the chance to heal, so your exhaustion made sense to him.
You were led to his office, he mumbled something about needing a stack of papers. Your eyes instantly spotted the couch shoved against the wall. You plopped down feeling as if your leg bones were grinding against each other.
Aizawa closed his desk finding what was needed, he turned and stopped. Your head was leaned against the back of his couch and was already passed out. He glanced around his office compilating what to do. After scribbling on a piece of paper instructions on how to get to his new classroom he took one last look before leaving you alone with a shred of his trust to sleep in his office.
"Mr. Aizawa!" Mina jumped thrilled to see her teacher and not some substitute.
"Morning." Aizawa muttered.
"Are you finally back!?" Kaminari wondered.
"Yes." Aizawa nodded.
"Yeah!" The electric blond grinned. "Are we finally gonna be able to get out of this classroom and do some real training?"
"I know your substitute teacher didn't really let you all train-"
"Yeah!" Kirishima agreed, "She wouldn't let us out of the classroom!"
"I have heard-" Aizawa nodded, "-after your lecture today we will get outside."
"Yes!" The class cheered.
"About time." Katsuki grumped, kicked back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest.
"Alright-" Aizawa turned, "-if you want to get outside then turn to chapter twenty three and let's get this lecture over."
"Right!"
An hour swam through Class C1-A who all remained focused and quiet trying to get Aizawa through the material he needed to teach so they could get out of this stuffy room, into their gym uniforms and outside!
Aizawa's eyes flickered to the classroom's door, hearing someone fiddle with it since it liked to get stuck. Aizawa's heart skipped as he quickly turned to his class.
"No one does anything to spook her." He strictly ordered his students frowned; brows furrowed as questions formed on their tongues as the door slid open.
"Wha-?" Mina gasped, her mouth dropped open as her pencil fell from between her fingers and onto the floor watching you walk into the room. Katsuki stared wide eyed, his limbs turning numb taking in your bullet uniform and mask resting over the lower part of your face.
"Take a seat (y/n)." Aizawa was the first to speak, your eyes scanned over the classroom. Your nerves tightly wound as your blood began to boil you moved to the only open seat in the room, behind Katsuki but in front of Midoriya and right beside Mina. A part of you was beginning to believe this was all planned.
"Wh-Wha-?" The class turned to Aizawa then to you.
"As most of you know (y/n) is on probation until the investigation for Shooter has been cleared-" Aizawa explained, "-until then I am assigned to watch over her. Now back to the lecture-" Aizawa turned to the board.
Katsuki wanted to leap from his desk, he felt himself shaking feeling you behind him as you took your seat. Mina stared in awe as did Midoriya. Despite their growing questions and urges to pull you into a hug and cry on your shoulder, no one moved. No one said anything, because they didn't know what would 'spook' you.
Mina couldn't stop stealing glances as the lecture continued. You rested your chin on your palm as you stared out the window taking in the bright sunny day.
"This is the last assignment-" Aizawa instructed passing out the papers to the first rows to pass them down. Katsuki licked his lips as the sheets were handed to him, his heart pounded so hard he could feel the beating in his ears. As he turned, he noticed your eyes were closed, and how you had headphones in your ears.
Katsuki glanced past you to Midoriya who furrowed his brows confused.
'Asleep.' Katsuki mouthed to the greenette who nodded in understanding. Katsuki reached around you giving Midoriya the stack of papers as he did so he lightly brushed against your jacket.
Your eyes snapped open, grabbing the wrist not caring to register who it was. Katsuki reacted by grabbing your hand preventing you from snapping his arm in two. He stared confused, seeing the strict gimlet-eyed expression feeling like it was cutting through him.
Aizawa took a step forward, feeling alert as tension in the room flared. Perhaps this wasn't a good idea, this was all one giant mistake and Dr. Aimi was right, you weren't ready to be thrown into a room filled with ghosts of the past.
Katsuki released his grip on you, never breaking eye contact as he showed he wasn't a threat. After a moment, you dropped his wrist leaving a red mark where your grasp had been.
"Let's..." Aizawa questioned if Officer Maeda had been right...were you an unknown danger to these students? "...continue." Katsuki turned around facing forward as you went back mindlessly staring out the window.
Everyone went back to listening to Aizawa, but the tension didn't dissipate, it only settled itself inside the room. After he was finished, he instructed the students to head to the locker rooms, change and to meet him outside.
You rose from the desk, all eyes instantly locked onto you as you moved to the front of the class following Aizawa out of the room.
"Ok-!" The class broke out into a waterfall of questions and noise once the door closed. "-can we talk about that!?"
"Dude-!" Kaminari shook his head, "-what the hell was that!?"
"She almost broke Bakugo's arm!" Mineta added.
"She has changed." Shoji commented.
"Shut up!" Mina snapped, "Don't any of you dare judge her!"
"But Mina-"
"No." Mina shook her head standing. "We have no idea what she has been through-"
"She has changed though." Jiro agreed with Shoji. "You can see it in her eyes, the way she walks...she isn't the (y/n) we knew-"
"Of course, she's not!" Mina furrowed her brows; she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "She has probably been through hell! You remember how she was when we first met her."
"Why did she act that way?" The new addition to C1-A, Camie Utsushimi butted in.
Having been impersonated by Toga in the sports festival caused her to fall behind in her classes, forcing her to repeat a grade, her parents blamed the school for her terrible grades making Camie transfer to U.A.
"She was asleep." Katsuki defended, "I startled her, it's a natural reflex."
"Breaking your arm is a natural reflex?" Camie rolled her eyes.
"Yes." Mina replied by gathering her things following Katsuki out the door.
