Chapter 9 - Letter #2

Dawn stared at the tall building, the windows reflecting the bright sky as it dries off the rain from just a few days ago. The teen fixed his tie, letting out a deep sigh. He had never been here. In fact, his father forbidden it. But, if it was something for his father, Dawn did not want him to be mad. Especially in the afterlife. With a sigh, he walked inside. He was hit with a large crowd of people, scattering around as phones could be heard blaring. The inside looked like a hotel. It had a chandelier in the middle, it being lit with few lights and a couple of candles. Of course, the candles were metal. The floor had a checker like pattern, it being visible enough to not make someone believe they are hallucinating. Various couches and tables were scattered around, most of them having business people talk to each other over a glass of dark wine. Few had vodkas. There was a receptionist in the middle, having waxed candles sitting at the corners, few small plants being around, sectioning off the few others stacking papers. Dawn believed there was an identical one on the other side. A few chandeliers were lined across the top, having almost a glow effect you see in movies.

As the boy struggled to pass through the crowd, he huddled himself together, afraid of losing a valuable. Once he was at the elevators, he watched as the see through glass of the elevators shot up, with the glass elevator following. Then it would do it again, and again. The long seemed like a foot long, with Dawn being in the middle. "This is going to take forever.." Thought Dawn, watching as a quick glare of the sun shown on the glass, it disappearing when the elevators would pass. "What kind of place is this? I doubt it's a hotel..perhaps an office?".

The line shuffled slightly, it feeling like a penguin shuffle in the Arctic, it being slow yet fast at the same time. Loud talking overtook the classic music of the place, shadows coming and going as the sun moved, it blaring inside of the building. Without the A/C, it might have been hot enough to make your skin boil. The slight suffocating does not help. Once it was Dawn's turn, he finally went into the elevator. It felt worse than the lobby, it feeling you're suffocating with how warm it is, almost instant sweat appearing across your forehead. The teen hated it, but when it comes to stairs or a suffocating elevator, he would prefer the elevator over walking thousands of stairs up a building.

When the elevator shot to the top, because of the large open windows, the higher you got the more beautiful it became. As you went up, you could see the slight fog of the mountains, birds flying around, the forest and it's giant lake looking smaller and smaller the higher you go. The building was high enough to go pass the clouds. So when you go through the clouds, it got colder inside the building, then warmer once they were passed it. It was weird, yet fascinating.

There was a couple of stops here and there, but Dawn was eventually at the top of the building. No other being was in the elevator with him, just him and the slight emptying of the building. As the elevator doors opened, sudden freezing air hit Dawn, making him shiver. The sight of lab tanks filled with hog—human like beings inside of them. Some were twitching and growling. Like a wolf being teased with their dinner. Other tanks had a fetus inside, a cord connecting it to a feeder. The liquid seemed green, having various dark, long veins spreading across from it. A large ball of pulsing unidentified meat being attached on various things. Tanks, carts, corners, walls, etc.

The teen shivers in disgust at the thought of what could possibly be inside of it. He walked inside of the lab, looking around. "Hello? Anyone around?" Dawn called out, walking around the place. Many bloody footsteps could be seen across the ground, making the male wonder if they were fresh or not. He then arrived at a door, grabbing the metallic handle and twisting it, opening the door as he walked inside.
