Chapter 89 - A Song

After dreaming for so long in the darkness, seeing the sun's rays pierce through the canyon of skyscrapers nearly blinded her. The biting frost didn't matter. Just like her brother, many parts of her body had been replaced by mechanical components. They were gifts by their master after he had found them barely alive in their clan house. Yet while her brother willingly accepted these fake arms and legs, Sayuri had always been apprehensive about the archangel. Why had he chosen them to do his bidding? Why did he want to see the world burn? She stared at her fake hand that was conveniently covered by a glove. 

Sayuri tried to blend in with the crowd, wearing her brother's trenchcoat. His scent lingered on it, but she knew it would soon fade away. She could barely remember his smiling face. Too long had it been since they had shared happier times.
