Their gazes met. Zan's ears pointed sideways. He let out a low, threatening growl. But Alric wasn't going to let him have it. His blue eyes lit up briefly, and he ruffled the few feathers remaining on his stumps.
The silence grew unbearable, and the air felt electrically charged. Who would move first?
There. Alric noticed Zan move his right shoulder. Not wanting to lose, the angel lunged forward, but to no avail. Zan, an experienced fighter, had quicker reflexes. All Alric could do was watch in agony as the wolf successfully grabbed the last meat shish kebab on their shared plate. He relished every single bite, taunting his opponent with a satisfied grin.
"You're so evil!" Alric complained. Since he was Zan's junior, he had to foot the bill in the first place.
