Chapter 14 - Still Standing

Chavez had to attempt to make particularly clear and conscious decisions for the foreseeable future of this fight.

He was losing a lot of blood quickly, he was dizzy, and he no longer had his right arm. No powers in his possession would give him his arm back, he'd have to improvise from here on out.

It wouldn't be long before Chavez lost consciousness. Whatever Selena did to him revealed itself as extremely effective.

Selena stood waiting for Chavez again, she didn't make a move, not even putting her hands on her hilt.

Chavez didn't waste anytime taking advantage of her show of power. He quickly dumped his bag off from his shoulder and poured out the contents, grabbed a bottle of the prototype painkillers and ran away from Selena.

A temporary escape was better than losing your life, no matter the blow to your pride it costs. Chavez had these exact thoughts running through his head as his feet stumbled over each other time and time again.

He was much slower now that he was dizzy and losing blood, the pills wouldn't change that he was losing blood, but they'd let him focus on the fight rather than his injuries, in other words, he wouldn't feel pain.

It was certainly a gamble to take so many pills. Not being able to feel pain was a huge drawback in a battle like this, but feeling to much pain as he was experiencing now would be equally bad if not worse.

He popped open the bottle and poured the contents into his mouth. He quickly regained some stability and his haziness disappeared. It seemed the more he took the more clear headed he became. He felt more light on his feet as well, as if he weren't really wearing anything.

He clearly had stuff on him but he couldn't feel anything. Had he lost his sense of touch?

The medicine had dilated his pain to such a degree that he couldn't feel anything at all. Not the clothes he touched or even his own skin.

He was still bleeding out though and that was of course a problem. Chavez ripped off the sleeves of his shirt and did his best to make a turnikit with just one hand.

It was rushed and rugged but It was better than nothing. Chavez kept running as he did everything, he couldn't stop until he found something he could use to attack rather then to defend himself.

He couldn't feel his feet hitting the concrete anymore and often lost his balance almost falling. Losing his balance in a fight could cost him his life.

There didn't seem to be anything around here that he could use to actually make a difference and inflict serious damage to that armor of hers.

Chavez sighs.

"Fine, I'll do without." Chavez turned back around to face Selena.

He'd started getting used to the numb feeling throughout his body, he'd have to get used to moving quickly while fighting and keeping track of everything on his body, but that could only happen if he actually ingaged in a fight.

Selena wasn't in her stance, likely meaning she wasn't ready to use her one strike again. Chavez dashed for a moment and leaped into the air.

For not being able to feel anything and having lost an arm, his speed and power were still quite impressive.

He shot down at Selena lifting up his leg and swinging it down at her head, if the motion looked like anything at all, it looked like an executioner beheading a criminal.

Selenas eyes had kept up with Chavez as he ran and came back to attack. She'd anticipated the kick, but couldn't grasp the power it held in it. Chavez no longer had to hold back for fear of hurting his own body and it affecting his mind, he could go all out starting now.

Selena raised her arms and blocked the kick that Chavez brought down on her. The power behind it was enormous, Selena barely held her ground and even then the ground beneath her cracked.

She pushed his leg back so that he hung in mid air for a second before she grabbed his leg and again tried pushing him down as she did to tear his arm off.

Chavez wrapped his other leg around her arm as she did so and twisted his legs with everything he had, breaking Selenas arm before she finally let go and jumped back.

'A few more seconds and I would have ripped her arm off as she did mine!' Chavez immediately jumped forward trying not to give Selena a second to breathe, applying as much pressure as possible before she could heal or draw her sword.

Selena had healed as she jumped back, it'd consumed little soul in her state to heal it as quickly as she did. She was ready again for Chavez as he struck again with his legs. Feet first he dove into Selena as she rose her arms up to defend.

Chavez managed to push Selena just a tad off balance as they slid against the concrete before pushing off of her and raising his leg again as he spun.

Selena let her body fall instead of trying to regain her balance and the kick just barely missed her head.

Selenas back hit the ground and Chavez was on top of her. He raised his left arm before bringing it down into Selenas chest.

He'd thought to go for the kill on her head, but it's less of a chance for her to somehow dodge if he didn't immediately go for the kill. Along with Selena possibly having another trick up her sleeve, Chavez still wanted to get this armor out of the way.

Chavez raised his fist up again and looked down. There was a dent in the armor now the size of Chavez's fist, but if he could dent it, why couldn't sharur do anything against it?

Selena shoved Chavez off as he lost concentration over the dent. He was thrown several feet into the air as Selena got up and put her hands on the hilt of her blade and crouched.

Selena jumped up as the blade escaped its sheathe. Chavez was stuck in the air, nowhere else to go he was stranded. Selena had already entered the stance and started the motion, there was no turning back now, she would cleave Chavez body like paper.

Just as she was going to completely unsheathe the blade a stone slab flew right past her hitting Chavez and pushing him away.

Selena fully unleashed the blade and split the slab of concrete in half as Chavez fell back down to the bridge.

Selena stood in the air on her soul platform's after missing Chavez, looking up to see what had interfered with what would have ended in her win.

Sharur stood above her completely unscathed from before. He looked more....mature in a sense. He no longer looked like a child and didn't have any sort of smile on his face.

He looked more pissed then anything actually.

Really pissed.
