The drive to the hospital seemed really long even though I was not aware of time. I was focused on checking Tee's pulse and making sure it was still ticking. Reasonably, I knew she could not die from a slight wound on her temple. However, witnessing her lie unmoving with blood trickling down her face was something that would remain in my memory for a while.
I was focused on holding her close during the mad dash to the hospital so that she would not be jostled too much. I should have been ashamed of sobbing at the back of that vehicle while holding her, and Tee's friend asking me not to worry. I mean, she was the woman and I the man, I should be the one having my shit together and comforting her. Nevertheless, this role reversal did not bother me. What bothered me was my Tee and getting her to the hospital as soon as possible.
