Her nose woke up first before any other thing on her body. It tinged with the nauseating smell of medicine and the cloying scent of antiseptic. Mercy knew there was only one place with those smells. Her awakening mind reasoned that she must be in a hospital. What was she doing at the hospital?
She thought this confusing reasoning with a frown and still tightly closed eyes. Then the heart wrenching memory of painful sadness engulfed her. Mercy remembered the macabre and terribly sad event and started sobbing in very deep grief. Great balls of tears slipped out of her tightly closed eyes, rolling freely down her cheeks and rapidly drenching her cloth.
