Chapter 225 - Chapter 220: Future.

-Present time-

"Let's talk about the government." Ryan said in the world summit. "To merge all the governments together will be one big task, and I need to take the equality of the allied nations into consideration. So, after racking my brain together, I'd found the best way to do that. Please turn to page 182."

Centurion Gia and Skrull King Rezan – the interstellar representatives were curious about Earth's new way of governing when they strive toward unity later on. Inwardly, Rezan knew about the challenges Ryan would face in his mission. After all, there were no other species besides the Skrulls who knew and understood the most on how humans work.

The representative from Symkaria, Silvija Sablinova asked a question about the new government after reading the template. It wasn't a critical question, but an honest question from her.

"What about the land? Is it going to be split?" She asked.

"No. We'll try to ease the transition of unity in the world. The first way to do that was to no longer have any borders." Ryan answered.

"But. Not all countries in the world have entered the agreement." A China representative said.

"Hmm… maybe not now. But soon." Ryan said.

(A/N: I'm not smart enough for political chapters)

Just like that, the discussion continued amidst the tumultuous situation outside the summit building. The heavy armoured unit surrounded the summit grounds, protecting them all from the Scarabs.

"We need to hold the line until the Avengers come back." The leader of the ultramarine, Dom Toretto held a chainsaw sword in one hand and a blaster in another. "The only way to stop this madness is to stop the conqueror!" Dom added.

"Where are they?" Gwen asked as she shot multiple webbing toward a Scarab, tying it and restraining it from moving.

"I don't know. But. Kai is here." One of the Natasha replied.

The RV ship entered the Earth's atmosphere and flew directly toward Washington.

"Skye. Can you take New York?" Kai asked.

"Of course. Leave New York to me." Skye said confidently as she slicked her hair back.

"You know. You look very handsome now." Kai teased. Skye rolled her eyes and kicked her dad out of the RV. Kai free fall for 10 seconds until the ground was extremely near.

"Kai. Stop playing." Natasha hurriedly connected to his communication line as she saw him falling to the ground.

"Ahh. Sorry." Kai said and opened up his wings. "I just want to know whether you still care about me." He flirted. Almost 8 Natashas rolled their eyes at the same time at Kai's brazen action. Natasha felt that he forgot that they weren't on good terms before he left for space… To space.

"Guys. Think about the others in the same channel. Don't flirt." Rhodes teased. He flew over the streets of Washington and bombarded every single Scarabs he saw.

"Kai. The numbers keep increasing. Even the broken ones are getting back to the battlefield faster as time passes. The army wouldn't be able to hold it for much longer." Rhodes said.

"I will reduce the number of Scarabs. There is an easy way to handle this. Someone needs to sneak into the pyramid in the sky and destroy their time nodes. It will send the base and the Scarabs it spouted back to their time. They will come back when they fix the base, but it wouldn't be right now. By then, we should've already destroyed Kang's time anchor to this timeline." Kai explained.

Suddenly, Shuri connected to the Avengers' communication line forcibly. "Hi. I'm sorry to di-"

"I thought you're Shuri?" Kai teased.

"Seriously? Dad Jokes? Now?" Ava Ayala, the white tiger retorted.

"What?" Kai asked innocently.

"...Yes. I'm Shuri. My brother had infiltrated the mobile base. I'll send you the footage." Shuri said. She might not know the people there before as she only knows Ryan, but in times of need, those who stood with the fighters to fight the enemies together wouldn't be held in contempt.

T'Challa shared the footage of the inside of the pyramid. Several men with grey skin walked around the mobile base calmly despite the Scarabs and the flyer drones being destroyed by the resistance. They studied the perimeter of the battle and adapted it to their strategies in the fight. As time goes on, the battle for the heroes will become much harder to win.

"Panther, don't destroy the time nodes yet." Kai said, taking command of the group. The army would operate on their own under SHIELD and SWORD's commands.

"... Why?" T'Challa asked.

"They didn't come at full force yet. Let the army create a solid defensive line first. Destroy it after." Kai explained.

Kai flew toward the hundreds of Scarabs marching toward the summit venue. He took out an ordinary looking sword and stopped mid-air.

"Rend." He muttered coldly. Countless wind blades flew from his sword slash, decimating the entire Scarab army in its entirety.

[Warning. Civilization Destroyer Class Enemy.]

The grey-skinned man inside of the mobile base was stunned when they heard the notification. Unless it's a berserk Hulk or an angry Thor, they never faced this kind of enemy before. In their database, there was no mention of the new enemy at all.

"Another Ryan Knight? No. But he has a history in this world. The new one doesn't." Kang's subordinate chattered noisily. T'Challa listened to everything they were saying and narrowed his eyes.

'He didn't exist?' T'Challa thought. 'Who was the one messing with the timeline? Kang? Or Knight?'

"Activate the Centipede." Kang's subordinate leader said.

"That will consume a lot of energy." Another lackey subordinate interjected.

"Do it." The leader subordinate ordered decisively.

Only the Scarabs' remains proved their existence on the street Kai had attacked. His precision was so unworldly that none of his blades caused collateral damage to other parts of the streets.

"Be careful." T'Challa said stealthily.

Kai had his back turned against the Scarabs after destroying them. Suddenly, he felt a powerful fluctuation in the energy levels of the Scarabs. Their golden hue turned blood red and the circular body of the Scarabs merged with one another, creating a giant Centipede robot.

"Holy Shit. What the hell is that!?" Rhodes exclaimed in horror as he saw the centipede raise its body to be taller than the buildings there.

"This… Kai!" Natasha ran toward Kai's position hurriedly as she read the energy reading of the new enemy.

Kai faced the centipede face-to-face, his stoic face suddenly broke into a smile.

"Nice. I thought I'm going to be bored in today's fight." He flashed a bloodthirsty grin as he summoned his angel and demon sword. Kai let out a light blue slash bigger than the 10 storey building next to him, clashing the sword slash with the Centipede's head.

However, a green forcefield appeared on the Centipede's head, blocking the sword slash from destroying it.

The entire area was decimated by Kai's and the robot's clash, pushing all the fighters around him backward in an area of 500 metres.

- Washington, Future.-

As the Avengers were more troublesome than Kang had calculated, he needed to buy some time to conquer the world while delaying the Avengers from interfering in his plans.

"You DID THIS?!" Barton said while aiming his arrow at Kang.

"You're not listening, archer. I'm not responsible for destroying your world. Ryan Knight is."

"In my time, I rule all. But a disruption in the space-time continuum destroyed my reality. Wiping everything from existence. I traced the cause of the disruption to an anomaly in the time stream. Something that should not have existed in the 21st century…"

The Avengers looked at each other, torn between wanting to beat him up and hearing his explanations.

Kang continued, "… Ryan Knight."

"Sure buddy. Why don't you tell us all about it in jail?" Barton said as he drew his bowstring.

"You expect us to believe that Ryan is responsible for all of this?" Natasha said in a mocking tone.

Kang seemed unbothered by the taunts and asked them, "What do you know about Ryan Knight?"

"We know a lot. If your strategy is to sow discord in our team, then I have bad news for you." Tony replied as he kept trying to figure out what had happened to the future Kang brought them into.

He spoke internally, "Jarvis. Connect to the Stark Industry network."

"Network not found."

"Try…SHIELD...try everything!"

"Error. No networks found."

"DAMN IT." Tony cursed. Suddenly, Jarvis chimed.

"Found footage from an Ultron unit."

"I'd activated them? But they weren't even complete yet." Tony said anxiously. "What's the date of the footage?"

"A week from your previous time." Jarvis replied. The AI then played the footage for Tony to see.

In a ruined Washington DC, a black-eyed Ryan Knight with long hair and a stoic expression on his face stood tall amidst the siege of a thousand Ultrons. With a wave of his hand, all of the Ultrons turned into an ice block and fell to the ground.

A terrifying white wave exploded from Ryan's body, freezing every single thing on the planet. Gwen, Kai, Doreen, Skye, all of them were frozen in the ice, falling into an eternal slumber.

"Why- How?!" Tony stammered, not finding the exact words to express what he was feeling at this moment. If all of the people in the world were frozen, that meant…Pepper and the baby were frozen too.

"WHY? RYAN!" He gritted his teeth till his mouth was all bloody in his fits of rage. But he couldn't lose his rationality now as he was up against the conqueror.

"You see, very soon in your timeline, the earth will be consumed in…Eternal ice age. Nothing survived the ice age. No insects, no animals…no humans…" Kang continued.

"Nay. You lie conqueror. No one man would be responsible for such destruction. Least of all Ryan KNIGHT! No one has more integrity than he does. No mortal ever did." Thor said angrily. He instinctively knew that something terrible had happened to Asgard in the future he was brought in. He wanted to go back to his home to find out what happened, but Heimdall wasn't answering him.

Kang said, "Not knowingly. But he should not exist in your time. He should not have lived. He should have never woken up from his coma and died at the age of 20. I am here to correct this."

"Let me get this straight? Handing over Ryan to you will help save the world?" Barton said sarcastically.

"As we all know now…and we don't even have to go to the future to see it…the one who is waging war and causing destruction of Earth right now… is you." Natasha added.

"This is what Ryan Knight's presence in your time has caused. This is all his fault." Kang said. "Stark. By now, you'd understand right?" He turned to the Iron Man standing next to Captain America.

"Tony?" Steve called out.

"Cap…He's telling the truth…But now that we know about it, we can stop it. I don't believe that its Ryan who'd done this. Something else…someone else must've taken over… him. We need to get back. NOW!" Tony said anxiously.

"Yeah. He won't do something like this. Something else must've happened. We need to go back and prevent it from ever happening." Steve said decisively.

"If you insist on fighting for Ryan Knight's life, then I'll have no more to talk to you about. You can stay here while I settle my affairs in your previous…present." Kang said and tapped a few buttons on his time chair. But before he could move back to the previous time, Mjolnir appeared in front of his forcefield, trying hard to penetrate it.

"STUPID FUTURE BLUE MAN!" Hulk yelled in anger. All of these talks have been making him impatient. He jumped toward Kang and punched the forcefield barrier at the same time Mjolnir was attacking it. Finally, the barrier broke.

Hulk punched Kang in the face, causing him to be knocked off his chair, smashing into a frozen building nearby. The building shattered and fell to the ground, creating a massive cloud of dust that enveloped the entire Avengers team.

"Hulk. You've become stronger?" Thor asked in astonishment.

"Yeah. Ryan taught me martial arts." Hulk replied gruffly. Thor gulped his saliva after hearing that. He thought he could play around with Hulk now that his power had doubled, but Hulk didn't stay idle and also had progressed his powers.

"Tony. Bring us back." Steve said. Tony flew toward the time-chair and connected his Iron Man armour to its network.

"Urgh…Cap… We have a problem…" Tony said as he only saw unintelligible letters and numbers on his screen.

"Do whatever you can." Steve ordered.

BOOM

Kang flew out of the building wreckage, unscathed. No, rather, he had healed. He accelerated the already advanced healing of his body as the Avengers left him alone. A bad habit that Ryan had always nagged the team not to do, but they always did.

"Futile. You could never go back, not without my permission." Kang said coldly. "Now, accept your fate. Surrender to me, and you'll be the first Avengers in my Time that I let live."

"Really? Sound's like you couldn't kill us." Barton said cockily. Thor nodded in agreement while swirling his hammer. "That's true Barton. He's afraid. I can sense it." Thor released the hammer upward and flew to the sky. The clouds gathered, a massive thunderstorm was brewing.

"This…is too fast." Kang muttered as he read Thor's power level. He was clear of Thor's potential more than anyone in the world. Now, all of his data was useless.
