Watching him cook was a scene straight out of a fairytale, he handled each step with such care, all while exchanging laughs with Diana. Giving her the chance to taste from time to time, the warm-hearted moment when she ate from the spoon he held for her made her feel butterflies all over her body.
This time Cayn talked a lot, he was funny for a quiet man. Diana could feel herself falling all over for him, already getting addicted to his affection.
Cayn finally finished her dessert, "I call it red cheesecake," simply, mixing all the red berries, and creating such a dish.
Diana looked at him weirdly for his sense of naming. However, she did not mind him as she was drooling looking at the stunning dish.
Cayn slowly took off his apron, took the plate, and delicately presented it in front of her. Diana's mind was running wild, *a snack giving me a snack* she thought while giggling. And without hesitation, she tasted it. Feeling like the world melted in her mouth, her brain froze as she finished it, giggling making cute yummy sounds, "I wish I could have this every day!"
She was stunned by Cayn's answer that took her by surprise, "It depends on you." Looked at her deeply in her eyes, leaning in forward holding the back of her chair. "Hmm?" Locking his eyes with hers, he brushed her hair behind her ear with his finger.
Diana's whole body was filled with butterflies, too astonished to move, "W-what?" she spouts in confusion.
"Nothing," as he smiled.
His deep voice brought her chills, held her hand, and kissed it, "we should head back, it's late."
She nodded at his words.
He got up slowly holding her hand. Escorted her to the carriage, this time they sat next to each other, the silence was comfortable for the both of them.
---
As she held his hand to get down she softly said, "I will be waiting for your word about our next date."
"You won't have to wait long," answered Cayn gently, "tomorrow, wear something casual, I would like you to meet a brother of mine."
"Another angel?"
"No, but close" he smiled.
"Ah, I am not even surprised anymore."
They both started laughing walking back to the palace.
Suddenly they stumbled on Cassis and Ella who, as soon as they met Cayn's cold eyes bowed down and paid their respects.
Cayn kept staring at his sister, "come with me," he calmly said. He then turned to Diana, "wait for me here," as he let her hand go.
He walked away followed by Ella who ran to walk behind him with her head down.
For the entire time, he never spared Cassis a look, nor Diana could react or say anything but simply nod at his words.
"Well, he got some pressure," said Cassis staring at Cayn's back disappearing.
Diana smiled as she also watched his back, "We are seeing each other."
Cassis looked at his sister with surprise, but as she had a warm expression towards Cayn's direction he couldn't help but sigh.
Ella entered a room after her brother, who stood there with his back faced against her.
"So," his deep voice vibrated the room.
"He is as the information said, a sword slave, who knows nothing but that, with, a cute side to him."
"And you seem to like that."
She smiled at his words, fidgeting.
He suddenly looked at a corner of the room coldly with the side of his eyes, before bringing back warmth to them as he turned to his sister. He slowly walked up to her and patted her head, "The last pat, you have grown up so much." he smiled at her as she met his eyes, "I will always be here."
Ella jumped on him and hugged him, trying to hide her tears.
Cayn was always more than a bother to her. No, to all three of them, even though he was the third youngest everyone revered him as the oldest, sometimes, even as a father figure. Especially for Ella, who grew up clinging to him.
The hug lasted but a few as they started laughing warmly. Ella decided to leave the room first, holding her head where he patted her happily.
Cayn was left alone in the room smiling as she closed the door.
Crack
The door was closed. Leaving Cayn's figure alone in the room.
The atmosphere changed, Cayn slowly took a sip of a glass that flew to his hands, still staring at the door, yet the smile disappeared, leaving only an expressionless face.
Suddenly a figure appeared behind him, at the corner of the room he stared at earlier. Its head was bowing to him.
The room was quiet for a few moments as if the figure didn't dare raise his head nor make a sound as Cayn was sipping his wine.
He slowly put down his hand holding the glass.
"Speak."
His deep voice was harsh, completely different from the last event with Daciel while his eyes grew darker.
At this moment, Cayn seemed to turn into a higher being.
Whether it was his presence or his eyes neither seemed threatening nor gentle.
He simply was, standing above all.
The figure of the man bowed harder, "I simply wished to make a friendly expression."
Cayn didn't respond and took another sip.
The figure continued after noticing his silence, "I am a good friend of ****."
Cayn's hand took the glass off his lips, he stared at the wine that was left in it as he spoke, "That only gives you a few more minutes before I slice your throat."
The figure shacked and got down on one knee with his head bowing. "I apologize for coming in without your majesty's permission. I teleported to where your coordination was I didn't mean to appear in front of your majesty and your sister. I hope you can forgive my incompetence."
Silence filled the room.
Cayn slowly finished his drink and put the glass on the desk as he turned to the figure. Staring at him coldly. The figure could only close his eyes and shake in fear as he felt his gaze.
"How close are you." That wasn't a question, the figure knew.
"He is my big brother."
"Oh."
"Yes, He told me to look for your majesty as soon as he left to pay my respects and help you if your majesty ever needs anything. I didn't get the chance to come early today as I had to help him get back."
Cayn softly answered, "I understand."
The figure breathed a sigh of relief.
"I thank your majesty's benevolence."
The figure knew the real reason he was still breathing was that he left as soon as he was teleported reading the room between the siblings and only came back after they were done. He was lucky he didn't interrupt them.
"You may leave."
"Yes, your majesty."
The figure disappeared with a soft sound of wings flapping.
Cayn sighed, his presence disappeared yet his cold eyes remained. Leaving the room to meet up with the people he left.
They all stood up as they saw him approach while he stopped Diana from doing so with a sign from his hand.
Then he finally stared at Cassis as he stood in front of him. "Walk with me."
Cassis nodded and followed Cayn outside to the palace garden. Diana and Ella looked at each other nervously.
Cayn was walking in front as Cassis gently said, "I heard your highness and my sister are seeing each other."
Cayn kept walking, "yeah."
Cassis walked slower. "I hope you will take care of her."
"I will." Still walking in front not giving it a thought.
"I don't care how strong you are I will fight you if you hurt her!" He says with determined eyes piercing Cayn's back.
"Hmm," Cayn stopped in his tracks, followed by Cassis. "Fight, me?"
He slowly turned around as he spoke, and then it happened.
Cassis stared at Cayn's bloody eyes, everything around him turned dark, he could only see Cayn's figure standing in front of him, his golden eyes shining through the darkness.
Suddenly behind them appeared a black sun, being so close to what felt like the biggest star he was worse than an ant. He could hear the sound of its dark fire raging.
Cayn's deep imposing voice shacked the ground around him, "You dare."
Cassis' ears and head almost burst.
Then what happened next left him on his knees.
THE DARK SUN OPENED IN HALF. IT WAS A DRAGON'S EYE.
It had the same color as Cayn's. The bloody yet bright golden color shinned so brightly, yet the little Cassis was kneeling in front of the dragon's dark pupil.
The power and strength of such a being weren't used against him. This being merely existed next to him.
Cassis started laughing hysterically, he couldn't help but think that Daciel had an easy death.
Cassis was screaming, crying, bleeding from every part of his body, trying his best to move his legs. His whole body was in ruins, yet he kept laughing. He lost his mind.
Suddenly everything disappeared. They got back to the garden, and he to opened his eyes from the trance, his head felt light. He woke up to Cayn walking in front of him.
He was confused, Cayn slowly said, "You better take care of my sister," As he waved walking away.
Cassis stood there alone, watching his back.
