Kouji woke up in the morning.
Looking out of the window, hearing the melody of the birds and smell the scent of a bloomed flower.
Knowing what the date today is, he knows that it's going to be the worst day for him.
But he dont have a choice other than to get through this day.
So he started the day by washing its own face.
Next, he went downstairs and cooked breakfast.
Eat it in the living room while still watch TV, even though he already knows what the broadcast is.
Then later afterwards, took a bath and wore his uniform.
Michiko picks him up in his house for them to go to school together.
They soon reach the brick road and stop there.
"Wow… pretty… Hey, Kou, let's take a selfie."
"Okay."
Standing in the middle of the road, that gives them a background of a pink scene. In count 3, making the peace sign pose, they take a selfie.
After taking a picture, Michiko notices that the fellow schoolmates around them, some of them we're having a little flower viewing.
"Hey, why don't we stay here for a while? Just for a couple of second to enjoy the vie–"
"Sure."
"Huh?"
A quick response. Kouji was already sitting on the bench before Michiko knew it.
Summarizing what Kouji's doing, he simply repeated the same scenarios before he first leaped, though there were some things a bit different from what he did. However, until this point, he is just going to do the same thing.
Spending time on cherry blossom viewing while conversing that led them to barely not get in the school.
Listening to the lessons from each subject, break time yada yada and so on until the school ends.
The least we can say, he did everything according to his memory and the only things left was what comes after school.
"Sorry, Kou, I have a club today. So, you can go without me… Kou?"
Michiko talking just like the FIRST day she did, letting Kouji know that she has a club activity and can't go home with him, but apparently he was not in the room anymore.
Kouji left the school, without hearing that sequence from her. He thought that it's not necessary and just focused on the important stuff like… DYING.
The after school for him was like an endpoint to him. And knowing that or having a memory was rather terrifying.
He can't do anything other than walk straight to his death. But he couldn't accept such a thing happening to him, so he took a different route on his way home.
A route that no one's around, a hidden one, and narrow.
To use common sense, It's a stupid thing to use empty road than crowded one, since it's easy to get killed in hidden areas. But there's a reason for Kouji picking that type of route.
To an empty street that can easily get ambushes. Narrow space enough to move and easy to look around.
With those advantages, or he thought to be, now he's ready.
On a road that no one's around.
Kouji was walking alone in such a narrow space.
The time when he was supposed to die was already long passed, but he is still calm about it and just keeps moving forward.
He once stopped, sensing something… odd. Then he looks up, seeing the person in white on the rooftop of a house.
Kouji starts to run away as fast as he could and is followed by the person on the rooftop, jumping from house to house.
Looking at the person chasing him, it's catching up or rather he didn't even get away from it.
And the way that person moves was unnatural for a normal human to move. How can she catch up to him from above? How can she normally jump from rooftop to rooftop continuously without losing some speed? Is that person even a human? But for sure It's definitely not normal to kill someone with a sword, Kouji's thought.
They've been running for a while now, and Kouji is gradually getting tired and slowly losing speed. Then soon the person from the top jumps off into his above and prepares to slash him.
Luckily, Kouji noticed it and was able to dodge the blade before getting hit.
Even so, the person didn't stop there, when after landing, she followed up with another attack.
With that close range, it's impossible to dodge it, however since Kouji already got killed a few times, his sense of danger was improved and able to block the attack with his bag then back off.
By that, it gave him a chance to run however he didn't, the reason was because he needed to confirm something.
"Hey, why did you want to kill me?"
"..."
By asking the person for a reason, it did not answer and just attacked him continuously.
Kouji is able to evade it all, but it's getting fast and unbearable to dodge it. So fast that his eyes can't follow until the blade was unnoticed, going to hit him. At that moment, it was already too late to avoid since it was that close to him, so in panic, he stupidly averts it with his hand, leading the fingers to cut off.
"AAaaa! My fingers!"
But it didn't stop there, it followed again with another attack that got his arm cut next.
As the cut arm falls down, Kouji quickly backs off but because of how he loses his arm, the left side loses its weight and his body becomes unbalanced, making him tripped instead.
"Why?... Why do this? I haven't done anything bad to you, so why?"
"Because you're not in the place you are supposed to be."
"Huh?... What the heck does that mean?"
The person finally responded, although Kouji can't understand what she meant by that.
"Don't ask anymore, just die."
"W-wait."
"Bye."
With that, he got slashed afterwards. He's going to die again without getting an answer except, "Because you're not in the place you are supposed to be". Kouji can't comprehend what that means.
Coming back to the question of, why did she want to kill him? Using the reason of, "Because he's not to that PLACE" does not give him a single clue at all. If she meant by that PLACE where the accident occurred and the same place he died on his FIRST day, then as if that person saying she's Death itself, it doesn't make sense at all. If she's really Death, then why personally physically kill him by herself? Why not just straightly kill him with disease or an/
With many questions that he wanted some answers, but those thoughts suddenly perished. When in his death door, slowly dying, he felt something warm in his head as if someone was touching it.
It was gently stroking his head that made him calm and at ease. He can't see who it was, since he can't open his eyes anymore, or rather he's in a dream that slowly becomes white.
