Alzie was stunned. Mira was pregnant, but how? He had been standing against the wall of the guard's hut and heard everything. He could feel the guilt welling inside him at the thought of any harm coming to his offspring. Even if Mira was the one carrying his offspring. He knew if given the chance Cyro would've made a great father. Yet he is given the chance. If Heili knew she'd have a fit, and if Vilen knew… He couldn't let Vilen know. That was Cyro's beasty, and therefore would be treated as his own. He would need to speak with Mira and the wolves first in hopes she would forgive him and let him care for her. There isn't a hundred percent guarantee that Cyro would be set free, and his beastly should be with its own kind. He wondered if she could even survive such a pregnancy. He needed to discuss things with Frazen see if perhaps he wouldn't mind helping raise the beastly, incase Mira doesn't survive. He would have to wait to speak with Cyro hopefully not in the guard house.
He headed back thinking of how he was going to convince all ten tribes to agree to setting Cyro free, without letting on that Mia was expecting. The prospect of such a thing would be the most precious thing in Vilen's eyes. No doubt wanting to monitor and even possibly run all kinds of tests on the beastly. He was nearly back to the chief's hut when he bumped into Heili and Mira. They seemed to be having a quarrel of some sort, Indigo and Kylo was nowhere to be seen. He walked up behind Mira, neither female noticing him there.
"Oh please! She can eat whatever she wants!" Heili was shouting as they both stood outside a little hut. "This fish has been reserved for me as I am to be expected to be carrying any day now!"
"Heili, back off!" The growl coming from Mira did shock Alzie. He's never heard her growl before.
"No! And what right do these wolves have to try and demand our fish!" As she spoke Alzie began realizing he definitely wished he hadn't chosen her.
"They are following my orders." He kept his voice steady, showing no emotion.
Obviously, this was a shock to both of them as they turned to look at him. Mira seemed shocked the most. He just stood staring Heili in the eyes showing her he was serious, and it was best to listen to her mate. She let out a hiss and walked to stand behind him, her head bowed in apology. Mira seemed to get some joy from it but was quick to hide it when she looked back at him. She didn't say a word just turned back around and crossed her arms as she waited for both wolves to come back out. When they came out with a basket of fish, they were quick to move her further away from him. He didn't want to cause too much of a scene, so instead he slowly kneeled down before them. He didn't look up and wasn't going to till they allowed him.
"Please, forgive me for any miss doing I or Heili has done." He nudged Heili with his foot so that she would kneel as well.
"Why should I?" He flinched at how harsh her words were. He was beginning to see why Cyro chose her.
"Because I wish to help you…" He paused not wanting Heili to know what they all knew. "I was Just outside the wall of Cyro's cell."
He hoped that was enough to show them he knew what was going on. He also hoped they'd believe him and trust him. It felt like an eternity as he waited for their answer.
"Send Heili away." Her voice was still harsh and cold, but he did as told. He knew they both would pay for that later.
"Why not run off and tell Vilen?" Indigo's voice was stern and cold but if you listened close you could hear his own growl.
"Because he cares for Cyro, isn't that right?" He gritted his teeth as she spoke. He thought he was more secretive about it, or she has learned to read him.
"Yes." He tried to keep his voice gentle, but it irritated him that she knew his secret.
"Fine, but don't expect us to trust you right away." Indigo voice still had a little bit of a growl as he spoke. "Kylo, you'll have to go get the hides and milk instead."
"I understand." Kylo seemed to sound a bit neutral, but he was always the calm quiet one.
Alzie stood up and looked at Mira, who gazed back at him. She seemed to smile a little before leading both of them to the chief's hut. He guessed she was headed back to her room as he followed. He would need to speak with Frazen and let him know what was going on. However, he also knew Frazen's relation to Vilen and wondered if he could actually trust Frazen. He should at least show Mira and Indigo how to properly cook the fish, if she was to get the most nutrients out of it as possible. He felt awkward walking with them as Indigo made sure to keep her right against him and kept glaring at him. He guessed Indigo was the one to offer to be her second mate, he seemed to be taking it very seriously as well. He wondered if Indigo may become an obstacle between Cyro and Mira but pushed the thought away as he remembered Cyro's words. When they finally got to her room Alzie was finally able to relax. They were out of sight, and he could prep the fish in peace. He reached under the bed and began pulling the cooking supplies out. He smiled when he saw Mira and Indigo gaze in awe, both must have never checked under the bed.
From spending three days in Frazen's room, he learned a secret or two about these rooms. Each one was prepared in case of an emergency like sudden war, or earthquakes, or anything that can cause destruction. They also made sure there were hidden passages for those who needed a quick escape too. However, he didn't want to reveal any other secrets in case the walls were listening. He also had to treat ever conversation with Mira as if it were glass. He couldn't let anyone know of her pregnancy; it would be disastrous. He quickly set everything up and reached for the fish. Indigo almost stopped him, but Mira placed a hand on him to stop him. He cooked the fish perfectly, making sure to add salt and a bit of pepper. Many of their females said it made the fish so much better and easier to eat. Fish was highly regarded in their culture. They were so much more different that all the other beasts. More primitive and animalistic. They chose to stick to their lizard ancestors more and less to the humanity part of themselves. They believed humans to be the origin of evil. Cyro never got to learn a lot of this due to the tribe never fully accepting him. Mira being human and now carrying Cyro's beastly will never be allowed back to the tribe, and neither would Cyro. They would have to find a new home. He finished the fish and placed it in a bowl. He walked the fish to the window and raised it too the sun. He whispered a silent prayer of health and protection for Mira and the beastly. He then handed the fish to Mira, who eagerly took it. He watched as she scarfed it down. The hunger she must have been feeling letting its self-show.
