Chapter 9 - Religion

Morning.

Four days passed quickly and tomorrow the long awaited festival will be held and he will start walking on land.

The two kids still visit him in the cave bringing a basket full of fruits everyday but today there is an additional object brought by the kids.

"What's that?" He asked, eyeing the thing Hela holds.

"Clothes. For tomorrow." She replied and put the thing she's holding on the flat surface of a rock. "Brother said we need it because you don't have any money to buy clothes." She added.

"Though it's not pretty like ours."

Lyron stop himself from rolling his eyes. This girl.

"The festival will start early. It will officially start when the priest of Ocean Mother finished praying in the town's square with the citizens of Nast until then no outsiders are allowed. Hela and I will fetch you here after that since other people is already allowed to participate in the festival after that." Paju explained while putting the basket of fruits beside the clothes.

He nodded in understanding. He already know that. It is already explained by the two kids before, the Kingdom of Nast believe in Mother Ocean, the Primordial Goddess of the Sea, Mother of Rivers, Springs and Streams, the Ruler of all waters. The people of Nast only have one religion and believe in one divine being, Mother Ocean. Mostly because they are near the ocean and because of its holy teachings, 'The Book of the Sea'.

In the book, it holds the story of Mother Ocean, her graciousness to the human on land, her benevolence to the sinners, life and fertility within the ocean, and her children; the Loreleys. It stated that Mother Ocean birthed two Loreleys, Harmony and Chaos.

In the book, Harmony embodies the feminine power of water — strong, nurturing, loving, pleasure-seeking and beautiful. Chaos represents the destructive nature of the water, at the same time untamable, fierce and shockingly independent. Together they start creating creatures like them, singing praises to their one true Mother.

That is also why the people of Nast feared and revered the Loreleys.

Aside from the church of Mother Ocean there is also the church of Mother Earth believing that Mother Earth is the Primordial Goddess of Earth and Land, Mother of all Life, the Ruler in Land. Another religion is the one that believes in the Sun God, the Primordial God of Sun and Sky, Father of Light, Life and Warmth, Father of all Gods, Ruler under all Heavens.

Mother Ocean, Mother Earth and Sun God are the three major religion in this world and some lesser Gods are sometimes worship by small tribes which is not really a god but sometimes a creature closer to nature like the Nymph of Dawn.

The churches of Mother Ocean is typically erected in all town and city of Nast. The churches of Mother Earth is located in the land under the Kingdom of Delmont. The Cenia Kingdom believe in two deities, the Mother Earth and Mother Ocean while the Leopenia Dynasty believe in the Sun God.

"There is a cloak and hood here, please bring it with you tomorrow to hide your hair." Paju reminded. "Silvery white hair is not very common in Nast and father once told me that only the creatures closer to nature have such hair and the royalties of Leopenia." He added.

"Our Kingdom does not have any enmity against the Leopenia Dynasty it's just that they are very hidden in their activities and only focuses in magic if some people will see you having that kind of hair tomorrow it might cause a little... disturbance." Paju explained patiently while his sister is nodding along to whatever he says.

Lyron can't help but to smile. Ah these kids truly shows their concern for him. Paju is indeed a child much mature for his age, clearly picking the right words to say and conscious of what passed through his mouth.

"Do not worry. I will take care of not to expose myself." He assured.

"Now then how's your magic lessons going?"

Hela perked up at that. "I still can't form my magic core but Paju just did it the other night! Father said he is a genius for already forming a magic core even though he's still eight!" She reported excitedly dragging her brother to sit beside her.

"Mother was very happy because Paju might have an opportunity to be enrolled in the Academy of Magic in Leopenia!"

"Paju is indeed a genius!" Lyron said, praising the kid. Paju is indeed remarkable. Other kids formed their magic core at ten while some diligent kids formed their magic core at nine. Paju on the other hand formed his magic core at eight which is a feat considering he's a human.

"Don't say that. It's because Arion teach me about magic that I am able to create a magic core early." Paju said, ears red from embarrassment.

He can't help but shakes his head. "If it's not because of Paju practicing diligently he will not achieve this and because you're a talented magician that you can easily grasp what I wanted you to do." He explained earning another blush from Paju. "Hela on the other hand is very lazy and needs to learn from her older brother." He added flicking the girl's forehead.

She pouts while rubbing her forehead. "I don't want to create a magic core yet! I am still 6! If I form my magic core now people will call me genius but I can't be pretty and genius at the same time." She said, shaking her head in denial. "People will envy me you know."

"How thick is your skin?!" He snorted.

"Not much." She responded immediately.

Groaning he dive down into the water, wetting the girl's feet. Hela can be a little shameless sometimes. Her shamelessness sometimes make even him, an adult, be embarrass.

"We cannot play for now. Paju needs to stabilize his magic core and you little fish needs to train to form your magic core." He instructed.

Hela rolled her eyes after hearing him talk. "I am still a small harmless little cute kid. I don't need to train!" She stumped her feet but proceeds to walk near the corner where she usually sit while in training.

"Just listen Hela. Father might grant you a wish." Paju chimed in, encouraging his grumbling sister.

"Yeah. Like going to Delmont and visit those brutes." Hela rebutted, rolling her eyes for the second time.

Lyron just shakes his head hearing the banter of the two while going back to the stone where he usually sleep and starts training his magic.

They usually play in the water when they visit him in his cave or he will sing for them while creating water bubbles but now he needs to train and stabilize his magic circle to prepare for tomorrow.
