The sun is setting when he finally open his eyes, a bright orange hue painting the waters inside the cave.
He sigh. Indeed. Time pass quickly when you're occupied. He felt it's just a little time that passed when he tried to practice magic but hours already passed without him knowing.
Still he thinks he spent his time well. Although he's new in this field but the flow of his training is smooth, it may be because of the original's memory and the affinity of this body. He noticed that although some magic particles may be dimmer and hard to manipulate, it is not actually unusable and magic can be found anywhere. The surroundings are packed with magic, they filled the air, all forms of water, and everything under the sky. When not use magic is not visible, their stagnant state remains and magic cannot be observed under the naked eye until they are disturbed or triggered when someone is using magic. Triggering the magic makes the magic particles to be visible and they look exactly the same to its projected image.
He tried using magic a while ago and observe the flow of magic in the projected image in his mind. As his most compatible magic element, the water, it came easily. The steady flow of energy and magic in his veins moved in his right hand, the water particles in the air churned before slowly converging. The water particles gathered and formed a slowly rotating water ball.
As a person originating from Earth, the process in casting magic can be called enchanting and foreign at the same time. He felt the fantasy vibe lingering in the air and was ecstatic in experiencing more. He read countless novels about magic and fantasy but reading and experiencing it is a completely different realm.
Moving his stiff muscles and carefully nudging closer to the water to slowly ease the numbing feeling he feels from sitting too long.
Splash!
Waves formed as he dive down into the pool, making his way to the narrow entrance.
"Can I find food aside from seaweeds?"
He shakes his head in disappointment. He completely knows he needs to go out and explore the land before he can escape in his destiny of eating seaweeds forever.
He lingers longer than he expected, he swim freely in the largest pool in this world, the ocean. The warm water and the soft glow of the setting sun make him stay a bit longer, the sound of the splashing waves brought him back to the memories of his past life.
It is also like this, the setting sun and the warm water accompanied him when his swimming alone. Back then he can't swim freely, always in need to escape just to swim in the ocean. Because of his poor health his family always ensure that he have the best environment to live, but he is also robed with the ability to chose what he like.
A sigh escape in his lips before he decided it's enough playing and go back to the cave.
The energy stones started emitting soft lights and some fireflies started to appear, the stars already visible in the hole above the cave.
With his eyes close he started humming a soft tone and slowly floats in the pool, completely unaware of the approaching footsteps.
The sound of falling stones startled him and he quickly look up, meeting the eyes of a younger boy with a wild look in his eyes.
"Pretty." The boy mumbled absentmindedly and still looking at him intently.
Lyron is at lost, the situation now is not what he expected nor do he expect something like this to happen. Before he can gather his thoughts the boy speak again.
"Are you a Loreley?"
"Yes." He admitted.
The boy beamed. "You're so pretty."
"I..."
Lyron cannot help but swallow his words. The simple compliment overwhelmed him, his cheeks a little hot. He was used with the complements given by his family but receiving a complement from a stranger, from a child no less, feels good. It might be because of the innocent way the kid said it but it's nice.
Blushing he said, "Thank you."
"Why are you here?"
The child shifts in his place, now leaning closely in the hole that makes him worried if the child will fall from it.
"Looking for the voice." He answered immediately. "Are you the one singing the other night?"
Lyron nodded and wave his hands. The water churned, bubbles popping up before a big wave rose up carrying him up near the child.
"I am..." Lyron hesitated, should he tell his name or the original's name?
"Arion. I am Arion and you are?"
The child is still looking at him intently, his looks contain admiration that is visible in his eyes and gaping mouth.
The child swallowed before saying, "Paju. I am Paju."
Lyron nodded and smiled a little causing the child to blush quickly. "Well Paju, it is already dark outside and your parents might be worried about you. You need to go back before they look for you."
The kid scrunch up his nose and pouted his lips. "You will not go away?"
This kid.
Shaking his head he said, "Nope. You can visit me tomorrow morning but you can't lean in this hole. You should enter in the cave's entrance."
The boy nodded and ask, "Can I also bring Hela here?"
"Hela?"
"My sister. Can I bring her too?"
That must be the girl that accompanied him in the morning.
"Sure. But don't tell other people okay?"
"Yes! I won't!" Paju answered immediately.
"Well off you go little one. See you tomorrow." He wave his hand while watching the boy got up with a sullen look.
The boy reluctantly nodded and walk away, occasionally looking over his shoulder to look back.
Lyron laugh before lowering himself in the water. He didn't expect to meet a little friend today. I guess I can't call this day uneventful thankfully.
I might be able to utilize this to get some information and know what kind of people living on land.
Stretching his arms, he swim his way into his stone bed and prepares to sleep.
The next day he is greeted with the sound of arguing voices. Although the tone of voices might not be considered loud but it echoes inside the cave.
Lyron is still thinking if he should hide before he remembered what happened that evening.
"Ahh the kids." He groaned and stretch his limbs.
"Brother father said not to play in the waters." The sound of the little girl echoed.
"Shhh!"
The groaning sound from the girl followed.
"Why are you sa stubborn! If father---" The little girl stop midway, her eyes completely going round and her mouth open up.
"Lore-- Loreley?!" The girl shrieked.
Her high-pitched voice startled the birds in the vicinity and it echoes inside the cave.
Lyron wince and covers his ears.
Is her voice filled with magic?! Or it's just that irritating?!
