The son and mother pair was very happy, they could not wait to get rid of Beruka.

A vile laughter left the old lips of the grandmother, Lady Porunn.

"I can't believe we are getting rid of that monster and we are even raised in ranks from this marriage to the ghouls", said the head of the house, Lord Pycelle.

"Hurry up! Let's send that curse away for once and all from our house. If it's passed the auspicious period, the ghouls won't accept her and we will lose our lives. House Aemon will vanish from the face of the earth", Lady Porunn said impatiently.

"We first must unmute her. We can't send her mute like this to the ghouls", said Lord Pycelle seriously.

"What good will ever come from that mouth? Lets say we unmute her, that still wouldn't create a difference. She is such a scared cat! I say let her stay muted. She wouldn't be killed after entering the Kingdom in just a short amount of time that way and we won't we wasting our precious resources to cure her posion.", replied the Lady Porunn.

The House Aemon was dully lit even on one of the biggest occasions at Easteros. It was an occasion to celebrate for everyone. The most powerful Duke of the Easteros, the next to reign throne, the most highly ranked Ghoul Duke, was getting married. What makes this occasion special and astonishing was the marriage of an ordinary being to a ghoul.

Today was the day when the first born of the House Aemon was getting married to the ghoul Duke of Nightfall, Behzad.

The House Aemon was the family of well learned scholars and healers. The head of the house, Pycelle Aemon, one of the finest maester, married the noble lady of unknown origins who passed away while giving birth to their first born child, Beruka.

Pycelle's first joy was turned into a funeral and he was handed a devil like baby.

The devil like child, Beruka, was not a source of happiness to her father. Anyone would get a jump scare who would take a glance at her.

What makes her scary was the fact that Beruka was born with the scariest mark on her face. She had a mark like that of centipede on her face by birth.

Everyone would curse the baby for swallowing her mother upon birth. They would say she was punished by the heavens and the mark is the indication of that punishment. They would call it "The mark of witches" or "The brand of the devil".

The midwives called her "The Devil's Offspring" because of her mark and her eyes.

She had the most strangest of eyes, the eyes like that of animals, the green colored eyes.

Growing up, she showed no sign of being evil except for her hideous face. She was only considered as a scare crow by her family, a disgusting and useless scare crow.

Pycelle could not take the offensive words and curses and thus decided to hide Beruka away from the face of the earth.

After 19 years since her birth, she was getting married off. She was still a scare crow but not useless this time as she was raising the status of everyone in the House Aemon by getting married to the ghoul Duke of Nightfall, Behzad.

Little did they know, this marriage was the end of the House Aemon and an escape for Beruka.
