" So, how many souls have you brought into this world?" An Old man who had a very long beard spoke. The old man was wearing the clothes like a king and had a golden crown over his head.
" I still haven't summoned even one yet, I would just be wasting my powers if an incomplete sould is summoned." A boy who looks to be around 12 years old spoke, he had very long white hair that reached his waist. A Black cloak covered his body parts, the boy took a sip from his cup of tea and then asked the same question to the old man.
" Me? I have summoned hundreds of them but as you said only 4 were complete."
" You did not stop after summoning just one complete soul."
" No, as you know I have 1 still left. I kill them if I deem their soul to be incompetent. I have my subordinate always monitoring their actions."
" I understand, but why do you do that? doesn't it mean that you are wasting a lot of your mana?"
" Who cares?"
" The gods are already against your methods."
" I am not afraid of them."
" Ah, fine. do whatever you want. But if you are that carefree, why don't you give me a complete soul and I would give you something in return."
" Even if I have more than once, that doesn't mean they are not precious resources." The old man spoke.
Just when the two were talking someone else walked into the room.
" Master, I have come to report that this one is also a failure. He denied following the commands I had given him." A blonde man with long hair stood on the doorstep, he had a blue colour crystal orb in his hand.
" Leon, Explain to me more." The old man asked.
The crystal ball contained the soul of Rex, these were the people whose Voices Rex had been hearing all this time in Alvis's body. Leon explained everything without lying or sugarcoating anything.
" You did the right thing, but the soul crystal into conversion chamber, we will just use it like the other souls."
Suddenly the boy who was sitting beside the old man stood up from his seat.
" Nuther, Why don't you give that soul to me?" The boy spoke to the old man.
" Huh? Didn't you just hear me? This one doesn't follow orders."
" What will you do with it? It's not like this soul can even be used again. It will not adapt to another body in this world again."
" I will use it for some other purpose, besides you are just going to use it to power some lights in your mansion."
" That's true. Fine, you can have it."
" What do you want in return?"
" I will tell you later."
" It should not be something extravagant. I have to remind you that you were just going to throw away this soul. It's better if you tell me right now so that we can have a clear deal."
" How about you tell me what you will do with it?"
" I will use it for an experiment."
" That's it." The old man narrowed his eyes and then sighed. " Fine, whatever you or me one for this."
" Hey, how come, I just gave you the answer."
" It was not satisfactory." The old man said.
" I will be going back now, Goodbye." The boy said as white light covered his entire body and he disappeared from the old man's sight.
" Leo was there something special about that particular soul," Nuther asked.
" Master, The person to who this soul belonged was a champion of hand to hand combat."
" I guess, this is why Aesir took it from us." Luther was sure that he didn't see anything special about the soul.
" What is the situation now? Do we have any more contenders? It is regretful, the berserker ability of Cohen's bloodline would have been pretty useful."
" There are some contenders with bloodlines but I don't think they would make an easy deal."
" Alvis Lucent was a fool, he asked so little of us but we were not even able to achieve that much just because of that damned soul."
" Master, what should we do now? You were unable to fulfil the contract this time."
" There is no need to worry, Alvis didn't even decide any consequences of failure. In contract magic, if one fails a contract then they receive the punishment agreed by both parties. He didn't want any punishment to befall us for some reason. The contract never needed to be fulfilled, it was just my integrity that kept the contract value."
Nuther spoke many other things about Alvis being naive and foolish. He begins preparing for other souls to be summoned, he went to a specific room. The floor had a big magic circle inscribed on it, Nuther goes in the middle of the circle and starts to imbue mana in every stroke one by one.
Slowly many faint lights appear on the circle and form a pillar of light that goes through the rough and ends up in the sky. The pillar of light slowly starts to fade as many blue colour balls of light remain in the middle, they were dim in colour and were not shining like the crystal ball.
" Damnit, this keeps getting harder and harder. I haven't been able to summon another complete soul for a very long time. The time of blessing will soon come what will I do then. I may have to bet everything on this last one." Nuther was trying to do everything he can to achieve a simple goal that others like him were also trying to achieve.
