" What is this?" Rex asked as he looked at the thing that was showing up in the air. It was like a gaming interface, he had not played many games but enough to know what it was.
" This is something I designed using a treasure of the gods. It will surely help you."
" What is it exactly? It's like what I saw in games."
" Exactly, This is like a game. You just have to give the command and it will show you your stats, skills and other things."
" How is this useful for fighting?" Rex complained, he didn't like something floating in front of his eyes.
" We will talk about this later, four now let's talk about other important things." Aesir changed the topic and spoke in a serious voice.
" Yes, I have a lot to ask as well."
" Rex, you can live your life freely in this new world as you have now become my apostle. An apostle is someone that acts on behalf of his/ her god. There are a total of 101 demigods in the world and all of them are sending their apostles by sending souls to possess the bodies of mortals in this world."
" I can guess that much, what I want to know is why they do that."
" It's to maintain their existence and to control the world. This world is completely different from our earth, here humans can become almost as strong as a demi-god. This is the reason why they send their apostles into the world to deal with the people who are becoming a threat to them." Aesir explained the first question the Rex also wanted to know.
" So you guys use us as your assassins and bodyguards." He didn't like the idea of being used by someone like this.
" Yes, As a matter of fact sometimes even demigods try to kill each other. There are always meaningless wars as there are too many powerful mortals."
" You guys could have dealt with them, aren't you demigods strong enough to fight back yourselves?"
" We would have if the gods didn't involve themselves. They show mercy to mortals and threatened us, demi-gods, to sign a contract with them. However, it also backfired as demi-gods found this loophole and were still able to cause chaos in the world. So now they can not erase our existence as long as we do not fight ourselves."
" What if you have to fight when the mortal come to kill you?" Rex asked.
" As long as we do not initiate the battle the gods will not involve themselves. Our Apostles fight for us and protect us, kill for us and even die for us."
Now, Rex had complete clarity behind the motive of these demigods. However, he had signed a contract with this demigod who claims to be a human and also will not threaten his life because of the contract.
" I am not afraid of death anymore, so even if the contract thing between us was a ruse. Know that I will never kill someone because you want, I will only kill when I want."
" Surely, I will not ask you to kill anyone or sacrifice your own life to protect mine. I am okay with just having you do some simple tasks and I promise to reward you for doing those things."
" Alright."
" Now, you are using the body that belonged to me before I became a demigod. The special thing about this body it does not age, but because it now has a new host, it has lost all of its previous strength so you will have to train it to be as strong as I was. it will age a little more. You will look like a 20-year-old man and live like that for your life, you can not die of old age."
" Really? Who were you?"
" I just achieved many things when I was summoned so this is just one series that I can not use."
" Secondly, I have put that system like thing in your body. It is a very special thing that many want to obtain, it will surely make you one of the strongest in future."
" Become strongest, I think I will do that," Rex with a crystal clear voice.
" Now, here put some clothes." Aesir gave him the clothes, it fits him perfectly. It was white trousers, a white t-shirt a black jacket which he wore over his white clothes. The clothes looked especially designed for combat.
" These clothes are also special, they change size as you grow up. They can even change shape and colour as you like." Aesir said as he looked at the body he has given to rex. " It looks like I have a big brother now?" He smiled gently as he felt nostalgic.
" Hey, you didn't make one thing clear. Why do mortals even attack demigods?"
" They may want to use our corpse for advancing to the demigod level."
" You must have done something similar then, right?"
" No, I think that is enough questions I answered for today. I will tell you more when there is an appropriate time."
After these questions, Aesir taught Rex more about the system. Rex had played games before but being something like a game character with a system was good too.
" I want to go back to GreyForest, I think I still have not apologised to Lucia properly."
" That would be hard but the right thing to do," Aesir said with a sympathetic look. " I will teleport you there, but I can not teleport you back to this place. I will just be keeping an eye from time to time, you just have to think about me. We share a connection so when you will need my help, I will surely help as long as it does not include fighting mortals."
" Thank you for giving me another chance, I am not completely trusting you but so far you have been a real nice guy. You can also ask for my help when you need it." Rex said his last words before Aesir used the teleportation magic.
