"There is nothing for me to forgive you about," I tell her again but she doesn't say anything. Instead, she lets go of my hand and look away, her eyes haunted like one who has seen the ghost and wished to forget they have.
"Oh, but how wrong you are," she wipes the corner of her eyes at the single tear that has rolled down her cheek. "I have all but managed to make you me, I have reshaped you into who I am. And this is something I wish I never did."
I don't say anything, just soaking in her words.
"I turned you into the woman I was, when I was in your age, only this time, I made sure that you had all the means I didn't have then. It's like I have relived my life through you. That's is my regret," she shakes her head.
