Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Tragedy

"I think we won two times more than last year if I'm correct..." Hina said moving her hand up and down with a pouch of coins in her hand.

Ryu was being her, pushing the movable shop and still thinking about his loss against the old man. He still didn't figure out how he managed to deflect his shot with such ease.

Hina looked behind to check if Ryu was listening to him and she realized how thoughtful he was.

"What's going on? Just because you lost all of your money you decided to not talk?" She teased him.

"It's not that..." Ryu said in a thoughtful way, "during that match, I used qi to increase my strike power, and for some reason, the old man still managed to fucking deflect the ball!"

"It's quite easy to deflect a ball you know..."

"In your case, I wouldn't be surprised, but the fact is, it's an old geezer that managed to deflect my ball!"

Hina facepalmed while Ryu continued complaining about the match he had lost.

"This really is some bullshit," Ryu continued.

Hina and Ryu were now in their neighborhood, and everything was quiet. Of course, it might have been because there was a Grand Ceremony this night, but in their neighborhood, even during a Ceremony, there would still be someone to make some noise.

"Even Mr. Sumo's children aren't out today..." Ryu said in surprise.

"I didn't sense their aura at the ceremony, so they must be somewhere else,"

They turned into their street and realized that it was as quiet as the previous ones.

"This is weird..."

As they were walking closer to their house, Hina looked down and on the dusty ground, she saw a trace of blood.

"Hina..." Ryu exclaimed looking in front of him with a horrified expression.

It was one of their cows lying motionless on the ground.

"Damn it!"

Ryu sprinted to the farm fearing something happened to his grandparents.

On the farm, the house where they lived was situated on the right side of the barn in which they keep all their animals, and in front of the house and the barn was their plantation fields.

He and Hina rushed to the house and the entrance door was completely shattered. It was as if a tall and wide creature had busted into the house.

Cautiously, they both entered the house and there were claw breeds tracing along the walls inside the house.

"Gas walking around the house searching for his grandparents until he stepped on a squishy substance on the ground.

Slowly, he lowered his head and witnessed his Grandfather on the ground with his guts spilling out of his stomach.

Ryu started breathing heavily while staring at the corpse of his grandfather.

"This can't be..." Ryu whispered while his whole body was trembling.

"Ryu..." Hina walked out of a room holding Rinata whose skull was crushed and jaw was ripped out.

"Who could've done this?" Ryu whispered.

Suddenly, in the silence of the moment, small fragments started hitting the roof of the house repeatedly. The light tapping started to turn into strong and heavy fragments hitting the roof faster and harder. It was rain pelting the roof, matching the atmosphere of the moment.

[2 days later]

Since the death of his parents, Ryu had spent most of his time alone in a meadow situated a few kilometers north of the farm. This is where his grandparents Hina and him came to do a picnic sometimes.

There, Ryu was sitting on the green fresh grass with his legs bent and his arm on his knees. Staying there helped him to remember the good times he had spent with his grandparents.

"They surely wouldn't want me to be so depressed would they..." Ryu whispered.

He slapped both his cheeks hardly and stoop up. He contemplated the bright shining sun above him and let out a big scream.

"I ain't gonna mourn my whole life, I've got to do some~"

Before he could finish speaking, he felt a heavy fist reaching for his cheek at a fast speed. Ryu moved his head slightly backward to avoid the fist, but the power of the punch was so high that the wind it had created pushed Ryu backward.

"Damn... no wonder my men couldn't catch you..."

A bald man with an imposing physique, dilated eyes, and a cigar in his mouth.

"That's him, Master Zankoku, that's the motherfucker that stole my money!" Next to him were Fu and more of the gang members,"

"Hi Fu, it seems you brought another friend huh?" Ryu exclaimed trying to hide the fact he knew that the man in front of him was strong.

"I don't care about what happened with you and Fu, but I came here because you put three of my men in a bad state, and you seem to not be scared of us..."

Ryu remained silent and stayed on his guard ready for a fight.

"I'll teach ya how to respect us..."

Suddenly, the man created a green sphere from the palm of his hand that was getting bigger and bigger at first sight. When it had got big enough to be the size of a normal human being, he blasted it in Ryu's direction.

The speed of the blast was so fast that Ryu couldn't dodge it, and decided to concentrate qi on both his arms went in a defense pose lifting his arms and lowering his head.

The attack hit Ryu and it blasted making him fly yards away and brutally hitting the ground in his landing.

"At least I managed to minimize the damage,"

Ryu stood back up with a grin on his face, "Weak ass attack..."

Zankoku stared at Ryu with an intrigued expression and bursted into laughter.

"You're a funny guy aren't you," Zankoku concentrated his qi once again in a sphere this time slightly bigger than his hand.

"You know, qi concentration helps you to use your qi in different ways. You can model it, and do many other things with it. The simplest concept in qi concentration is what they call a qi blast, and let me demonstrate to you what it looks like,"

Zankoku fired his qi blast at Ryu who knew that even if he used his qi to protect himself, this time he wouldn't be able to get out unscathed.

"Damn it, I shit talk a lot but I don't have the strength to avoid this attack!"

Zankoku let out a smirk, "You're gonna die quietly, kid..."
