(Owen's POV)
I knew I would have to face my father once I got back home with my mom. Even though we didn't say anything on the drive home because of Beta Mateo, I knew she was disappointed I got into trouble again and as soon as we could, we will repeat the conversation we had last week and the week before that and the year before that.
She was going to give me the speech about how my elder brother, Ari, was the perfect son and never got into trouble.
She would praise him for being brave enough to leave home to attend university and in a year or so, he would be back home as he is the Black silver future Alpha.
The conversation always ended with the advice to stay away from the source of my predicament. I would stare at her and I would nod but she knew just like I do that, staying away from Emily was impossible.
We got down from the car and I walked away while my mother thanked our beta even though she wasn't supposed to.
She was Luna. The Alpha's mate and the most powerful she-wolf in black silver pack yet she hated authority, always shrinking from the responsibility.
Alpha Noah was in the sitting room waiting for us. Part of me wished he was at the pack house but he wasn't.
"Alpha Noah" my voice was a bare whisper.
By the way he grunted, I knew he was still fuming with anger.
"We are at home. Here, you can call me Father" his gruff voice was obviously terrifying but I didn't say anything.
I tried to hide it.
"Father, I will be in my room"
"No, you won't. You disrupted class today and you failed your physical education. You are an Alpha wolf, my flesh and blood yet you failed? Your brother Ari…"
"Ari never failed physical Ed….I know! Stop comparing him to me!" I finally lost my temper.
My father's silver iris was so bright that for a moment I was blinded, his transformation was swift and without warning. I didn't even realize what I did until I saw his claw headed for me. I had just challenged the most ruthless and powerful Alpha in Astoria…son or not, I have to pay for my sin.
My father's temper was legendary yet he never hit any of his sons before today. His claw got to my chest before Luna got in-between both of us and howled at him to stop that he was hurting me.
Outsiders may think there is no love lost between the black silver Alpha and his mate but it wasn't true. My parents were very much in love with each other, it's just my father who had a problem showing it in public.
His motto was softness gets the pack killed and so in public, he treated mother with the same cold indifference he used on every other person.
I watched as they both transformed back into human forms.
"Elise! Elise! Did I hurt you?" My father grabbed her cheek and stared at her.
I could see his hand shake just a little bit. A wolf hurting his mate was one of the worst things that can happen in Astoria.
Father took mother's hand and he saw the scratches there and took the hand and brought it to his face.
"Oh Elise! I am so sorry! Oh goodness, I hurt you. I am sorry"
"It's just a scratch, Noah and obviously better than losing a son" My mother told him as she brought her face so close to him.
My father surprised me. He simply took her mouth in a kiss. I expected Luna to push him away but she didn't.
"Gross!" I whispered.
The pain on my chest spread to other parts of my body.
My mother pulled away and turned to look at me.
"Do you think you can disrespect my mate without consequences, Owen?" Her eyes flashed with anger too but it was devoid of the Alpha silver ring since she wasn't an Alpha wolf but a beta from the moon blood pack.
I knew she was overprotective of her mate too just as she was of her two sons but I didn't expect her to glare at me like it was her turn to rip me to shreds.
"I didn't disrespect…"
"She is Luna and my mate…your next words better be, I am sorry mother" my father stood behind her.
"I am sorry, Luna" I said even though I didn't mean any of it.
"Good for you but you are not sleeping in my house tonight. Get out!" My mother pointed at the door.
"Elise, isn't that too harsh?" My father oddly came to my rescue.
Luna Elise turned to look at him.
"Do you want to join, Noah? Because I can clearly remember you leaving me behind at the school field in front of my pack"
My father retreated "You are on your own, Owen"
Great! I was going to be eighteen tomorrow and I had been kicked to the curb.
I turned around and picked up my bag, pulling the door open. I took off running.
I didn't even know I was running towards Emily until I was halfway there.
I knew it would take longer for my chest to heal since I was scratched by an alpha wolf. If it was any other type of Wolves, I would be good as new in an hour.
Soon, I was standing in front of Emily's house and I was knocking. It was almost dark outside.
The door opened and Eloise, Emily's mother, came out. She had bruises all over and a black eye. For a wolf to have a black eye, she must have sustained a lot of trauma.
"What happened?" I asked, trying to control my shock.
"Forget about me. I need you to find Emily. She ran after…after…" Eloise couldn't complete her statement.
(Emily, where are you?) I called out via the mind link.
