Chapter 21 - Chapter Twenty-One ~ Tournament of Pride(6)

Before leaving for the commissions' hall, he would cook up a few dishes for Song Mehui. A dish of Ma Po Tofu and a bowl of congee; both steaming hot and glistening. Although Song Mehui wanted to tag along. Wei Jian would refute her and left; telling her to recuperate because he is worried.

On his way towards the commissions' hall, he would see from the corner of his eyes, Ren Xiaoli and Hao Xinyue by the entrance of the core house. Again the three trios stood in their path. This time was justified because Xiaoli and Xinyue weren't core disciples, but that does not mean Wei Jian would let this go.

" Get out of here you weaklings, Just feeling your qi in my vicinity disgusts me!" Huang Kaifeng snorted

Hiding behind Ren Xiaoli was Hao Xinyue. Shaking and hiding away from the overbearing auras of the core disciples. His small frame of four feet five inches and his less toned body did not give him any confidence. While Ren Xiaoli stood up straight and did not cower. When Wei Jian came in to view, her face lit up immediately. Huang Kaifeng then would raise his hands.

Before he could slap her face, murderous intent brought him to a stop. Looking back very slowly, he could see Wei Jian staring daggers at him.

" Get rid of it before I break your bones, fellow disciple Wei Jian." Without looking up, Huang Yanan warned Wei Jian to stop his aggression toward his little brother. He was the eldest brother of the trio. Huang Yanan like Wei Jian was in the early stages of true spirit realm, while his younger siblings were far weaker.

He could care less about the actions of his younger siblings Huang Kaifeng and Manyin. But would go to any means to protect them from danger. So he too would send his intentions towards Wei Jian. The two colliding would make the others wobble and shook in their presence.

Huang Manyin would but in into their staring contest and suggest for the two have a legal match at the stadium. Of course, Huang Yanan and Wei Jian agreed. The group would leave the core house and head into the center of the golden cicadas sect. Along their way attracting a lot of eyes.

At the entrance of the stadium, the two would agree and pay the fee to fight. When they entered the arena, on the stands were crowds of disciples from outer to core disciples gathered to see the spectacle.

Stepping onto the stage the two did not greet each other. Merely stating their names before drawing out their blades. Huang Yanan handled his sword with both of his hands, whilst Wei Jian had his other hand behind his back. The two then would stare at each other, waiting to see who act first. While also assessing each other's weaknesses and strengths. Minutes of silence passed by and the crowd was dead silent focused on the two.

Caw!Caw!Caw!

The two would vanish, before reappearing with their blades colliding with each other. Neither of the two had an up hand in the test of strength. Since Wei Jian had a free hand, he would resort to palm style.

Surprisingly, Huang Yanan too would use the same technique. Somehow he had let go of his blade and stopped Wei Jian from contacting with his shoulder. With both hands occupied, Wei Jian would jump up and kick Huang Yanan in quick succession. Twisting his entire body and limbs so precise that he struck exactly where he wanted.

Huang Yanan was injured internally when he was struck near his liver. Letting go of his blade, so he would be able to protect his body from Wei Jian. Wiping off the shoe print on his robe and spitting out a mouthful of blood, Yanan would lung forward. To the crowd, it seem like Yanan was winning.

In Yanan's perspective though, Wei Jian with the smallest movement dodged his slashes in a way that won't tire himself. Which caused more harm to Yanan because he swung at Wei Jian with a lot of force.

When Yanan stopped his frontal assault due to exhaustion, Wei Jian through a crescent kick, and then after landing. He would rush towards Yanan and perform a scissor kick. Unable to stop himself, Yanan would land against the invisible qi wall.

Slowly getting up by using the wall, Yanan's face distorts due to his anger. A proud man, who was taught to never get lost. But that subsided when he realized how much fun he was having. He finally had a training partner in terms of realms. Unleashing his qi, with a giant smile, pulled his jian towards him.

" I core disciple Huang Yanan of the Golden Cicada sect and eldest son of the Huang family; greet fellow disciple Wei Jian. " Yanan would finally greet Wei Jian respectfully in the middle of the match which did confuse some onlookers.

" I, Wei Jian, former outer disciple and now a core disciple of the Golden Cicada sect, return your greetings." Having felt the change in mood Wei Jian would too drop his anger and decided to greet Huang Yanan.

Walking towards each other their blades would meet in the center. Then the two would turn around, walking 10 steps forward. In an instant, the two clashed, and in the end. A piece of iron struck the ground, while a piece of cloth danced with the wind.

The crowd cheered and yelled; the last bit of the match between the two was exhilarating. Even though they were not the ones fighting they could feel the rush of adrenaline coursing through their veins. And the ending did not disappoint either side of the crowd. Whether they supported Wei Jian or Huang Yanan.
