I walked outside to find out that there was a full scale invasion happening and all I did was think about Artemis where she is, is she in the fight. I ran into my room and I grabbed my bow and arrow, my twin hunting knives, which are three feet long. I rushed outside into the fray. It turns out that we have been invaded, the invaders are beings called cyclopeses. Cyclopeses are monsters, worse than the ones the evil scientists create in their laboratories. Those who are attacking us are the worst kind, they all have one eye, and they are around the size of ten feet. They wield clubs the size of buildings and their clothes are tattered to the point that you could see patches of skin that you will never want to see in your lifetime. I went for the one furthest to the right and lunged for her and we started to fight. I have to admit she is a worthy adversary. When I lunged for her I slashed. Despite her size she was easily able to parry it. After a little while of fighting I drove my knife into her heart. Every now and again I would walk by an amazon who was struggling with a cyclops and I would shoot it down. That was when I saw Artemis and she was battling a cyclops, when the cyclops threw her my heart stopped. She hit one of the marble columns and I heard a sickening crack. I somehow knew that she had broken her back, but I didn't believe it. After I was done dealing with the cyclops who threw her. I went to her and I honestly thought she was already dead. I took her into my arms and I said "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
She said breathlessly "It is not your fault, and I've loved you since we first met."
"I love you more"
"No I love you more"
That is when she took her final breath, that is when I felt tears falling down my face.
Three months after Artemis's death.
After the loss of Artemis, my mind was in a downward spiral. The amazons got word from my mother stating that my training on their island was coming to a close. I woke up and I found a letter from my mother on the nightstand.
Dear Olypmia,
I am deeply sorry for the loss of your companion and I send my condolences. But as of now, I am sending you to camp dawn to train under the legion. So you need to pack your bags, I've already sent word to the amazonian queen about your departure
Love,
Mom
As soon as I got to Camp dawn I felt all of the looks stabbing me in the back. Being the daughter my of the virgin goddess makes people wary of you. There has never been a daughter of Diana/Artemis in history so I am the only child. So wherever I go I shall forever be an outcast, enigma and a person who no one wants to be around. I hear their whispers and I see their shocked looks. I know they all question how I came to be. I barely even know myself. All my mother told me was that I was a physical manifestation of their love and she didn't explain anything else to me. So now I have to go to a place, but it's a place I'm not wanted.
In the legion, ranks are proven by skill and training. I have been training my whole life in many different places and styles of combat. So you would think I had a pick of where I wanted to go but no they put me in the 5th cohort. I have heard of the 5th cohort. When I walked up to the barracks and knocked, a boy answered the door and I was honestly taken aback because he answered the door shirtless. The first thing I noticed was his face, the electric blue eyes, the strong stance and the athletic build. His biceps looked like they were crafted by the gods, and the same for every other area.
He said, "Hello welcome, I'm James. Centurion of the 5th cohort."
As soon as he spoke I snapped out of my daze and realized he spoke to me, "thanks, I'm guessing that I won't be sleeping in your bed, so care to show me where I am sleeping, not that I wouldn't mind but we're not there yet."
He looked at me with a shocked expression, "Bold aren't we, let me show you to your cot. I told you my name, so what's yours."
"My name is Olympia, nice to meet you.
I heard a horn blown in the distance and he cursed. "What was that?" I said.
"That was the signal for the war games", he said.
War games already I have been here all of five whole minutes, and there are already war games. "Hold on I will get my weapons and meet you at the colosseum", I said.
He said, "ok then I'll meet you there".
As soon as I entered the coliseum, it was in absolute chaos, demigods were fighting everywhere. A normal person would have turned around and left for a cruise line but no I charge in knives blazing. I look to my left and find a soldier rushing towards me with a spear. I side-stepped him and cut his spear in half, then I butted him in the head with the pommel of my knife and he crumpled like a sack of potatoes. I turned around to see Jason and this girl fighting. She had dazzling short blonde hair and looked to be around 16. Her movements were like water the way she dodged and parried was amazing. Then out of nowhere Jason tosses her off the platform that leads to the sphere-like thing, and I guess we are supposed to grab it to win. I started to make my way up to the platform and I felt something on my leg and saw an arrow coming out of it and then I saw the person who shot it. It was a boy with long dark hair and obsidian eyes, he was handsome, with sharp features.
I tore out the arrow, barely even wincing. I drew my bow and shot an arrow that landed in his shoulder and he barked out a curse.
"That was an impressive shot", he yelled obviously in pain.
I ignored him and continued to scale up to the platform. Then the hairs on my neck stood up.
