Chereads / Faded Love {FANTASIES} / Chapter 16 - Project

Chapter 16 - Project

"So, speaking of fixing multiple dates as part of the project, how about we go on a date the day after tomorrow huh? Marina asks.

"Sure."

Marina and I get on talking for a while.

"Have you gotten over her?"

"I wish I could get over her you know?"

"Oh, why so?"

"Can we not talk about my ex girlfriend right now?"

"Peace out, okay...sorry." She apologizes.

We talk about couple of things before she exits my house.

"I miss you." I text Stacey out of the blues. I turn off my phone and pace around the room....sulking.

I turn on my phone again to see if I had gotten I turn off my phone and settle on the bed, raking my fingers through my hair.

I lace my fingers, tapping my foot slightly on the floor as I stare at nothing in particular. "Fuck!" I yell and get off the bed, I pace around the room. I catch a glimpse of her framed picture on my bedside table and I knock it off causing the glass to crack.

I needed to stop thinking about her. I'm only mad at myself that I can't do the right thing. I walk over to the wine stand and take a bottle of wine and pop it open, I take a shot glass from the table and fill it up with wine.

I gulp the content down and refill my cup immediately. I stand at the window, staring at her house....through her window, a part of me wishing she'd just come to her window and look at least, and when she wouldn't, I toss the shot glass across the room and I start drinking directly from the bottle.

I stand behind the window after sitting the bottle on the table, hands in my pocket, staring at the Tribette's mansion. It's not a big mansion, it's not a classic or fanciful one either that emits an aura of wealth, her family isn't all that well to do but at least, they get on so well and you would definitely mistake them for a wealthy family.

I take out my phone from my pocket and turn it on, she hasn't come online and so she hasn't seen my text yet.

I toss my phone on the bed as I stare at her house.

"You should talk to her and stop being a douchebag!"

I turn around immediately.

"It's not that easy." I say.

"What's not, Cameron?" Camilla asks.

Camilla's my sister...younger twin sister.

"Milla, it isn't easy! I can't get myself to talk to her."

"Meron! Get a hold of yourself, you have to talk to her, you're going nuts." Camilla says.

"I'm not...going nuts Milla. Stacey loves me, I know but she's gotten even much closer to Jed now, I doubt she still feels same way towards me." I say with my head bent low.

"How are you gonna know if you just sit here sulking?! Are you gonna let it be? You're not gonna do anything whatsoever?"

"Milla, no. What would be would be. If she's the one for me, it'll surely work out...maybe not now but it would. I can't even face her right now." I say.

"Oh yeah? What would be would be huh?" She mimicks. "You wanna know what I think of you right now?" She asks stepping forward, she halts in front of me and leans over to my face. "A coward. A coward who's just gonna sit there and let his love go! A coward who's gonna do nothing but believe that what would be would be. A coward that loves being a coward. Fucking get out of this house and nail it! Stop being a coward! If you won't talk to her then stop sulking, stop making everyone here mad worried about you...get over it." She says.

"I didn't tell you guys to be mad worried about me! I'm fine."

"Oh yeah? How so? Breaking stuffs, sulking, anger issues, ignorance...I mean, come on Cameron! You're not fine!"

"I'm totally fine Milla. I appreciate your concern but if you're not going to contribute positively to this, you might as well leave." I say leaning on the wall, as I take a sip of my drink.

"This is how you deal with issues?! Well, you're very much stiff necked and won't listen to my hearty contributions....if you ever want to talk Meron, I'm here." She says.

"Thanks but uh....I'll pass."

She walks out of my room, shutting the door behind her.

DYLAN

I walk into the room with my mom, holding her arm in mine.

"What is it I hear Jed?" She asks as I pull out a chair for her to sit.

"Which one exactly? That I want to work in your company as your personal assistant or that I've a pretend married project with the girl I told you I'm in love with?" I ask pouring wine into a glass.

"Pretend what?!" She asks almost immediately.

"Pretend married mom. It's a project...a team project."

"Team project?" She asks narrowing her eyes at me.

"Yes, but uh....that's not why I'm here mom, that'll be a story for another day."

"So why grace me with this visit?"

"Visit? Oh mom, you're still the same." I say handing her the glass of wine.

"Of course, I haven't aged a bit, and if I have, I'm ageing like fine old wine." She says smirking.

"Mom, it even tastes better when it's old."

"Aha! You get the point!" She says snapping her fingers at me.

"What point ma?"

"Let's leave that. Why are you here?" She asks sipping her drink.

"Oh....don't make it seem like I can't come for no reason."

"Oh well, I didn't say that but uh...you made it sound urgent...I mean your reason for being here." She says with her legs crossed.

"Yeah. Mom, uh...I really want to work as a personal assistant in your company...it's for my project...it's sort of complicated but trust me...it's not for a bad course. It's just...for a project."

"I'm glad you want to work in the family's company....a legacy your dad left on to me after he passed away. I'll be very much happier if you dream higher and have a much valid reason for wanting to work there, for your project sounds so....absurd." She says adjusting on her seat.

"I know ma, it's complicated. I promise to explain it to you...later. Can I start right away?" I ask.

"Who said you're hired?"

"Mom! I don't need to write an application letter for that." I say nudging her. "I'm indirectly hired, it's family company and I'm part of family." I say smirking at her.

"Silly boy! Get lost!" She says and I nudge at her.

"Lost? I'm pretty sure you'd walk the whole of LA in search of me, I don't want to stress your pretty legs momma." I tease.

"Oh please! I'm not old, and I won't walk the whole of LA in search of you....LA's big, I'll let you wander around, when your senses return, you'll find me. And you can't stay away for so long, you'll come running back to me because then again...you can't make your favorite dish yourself....I make it just the way you like it. Pasta would definitely bring you back to me, I can't walk the whole of LA in search of a clumsy silly boy, such a waste of energy. I'll chill and do Netflix." She says.

"Ouch!"

She adjusts her glasses to look at me.

"Well, I guess there's no one like you then....thanks for the nudge ahead mom!" I say and plant a kiss on her cheek which she wipes off.

"Ah! Move!" She says. I kiss her cheek again and she wipes it, I try to do it again and she slaps me...not hard though....like a playful kinda slap.

"Ouch!" I say holding my cheek.

"Enough of the love now, go on to work." She says.

I hug her before stepping out of the room.

*CAMERON*

"Hey,"

"What's up?"

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry." I say with my hands in my pocket as we strut down the alley.

"It's fine."

"I was a douchebag and all." I say and she chuckles.

"Yeah? So much!"

"Do you still love me?" I block her and she stands there with a look of confusion written all over her.

"Cameron...can we just-."

"No, I'm sorry....I need an answer now." I say.

"Let's just talk about other things but this."

"Do you love him? Is that why you're ignoring the question?"

"Cameron please! I'm not cut out for this now, I had one hell of a stressful day and can't tolerate this right now."

"Answer me!" I say shaking her violently.

"Let go of me." She says calmly.

"Answer me!... please."

"Yes! Yes okay?! Yes!"

"Yes what? Yes you love me or yes you love him?"

"Both....please give me time to think this whole thing through."

"I've always known I've always known!!! I fucking knew you loved him....just....fuck off." I say and walk away.

"Seriously? This is how you apologize? You know, I don't regret that much....I'm not so sad we broke up. You just jump into stupid conclusions and make dumb accusations accompanied with vulgar words...you know what Cam? I'm done here!" She says after I halt.

"Wait!" I call out but she keeps on walking. "I'm sorry okay? I didn't mean any of that. I'm only upset."

"Fuck you with your apology!"

I sit on the stair in front of a shop, hands on my head. I sulk as usual, hitting stuffs.

"Sir, would you please shift a bit, you're obstructing the passage." A short lady I assumed to be the shop owner says and I walk away.

DYLAN

I walk into my office and clear up my desk before settling down.

"Sir, you have a meeting with Dacoca company by 12pm." I say to myself and laugh. 'I won't do bad as a personal assistant.' I think out loud.

The telephone rings and I pick it up.

"Mom?"

"Is that an official way to address the CEO of this company?" She says.

"Oh, I'm sorry ma'am." I apologize while grinning to myself.

"Good. I want to know what my schedule's like for the day and while coming to my office, bring the files with you....I need to review some certain things before the meeting." She says.

"Okay ma'am, I'll be there shortly." I say.

It feels weird addressing my mom in a professional manner but I liked it. I like that she's my boss.

I carry the folder containing the files in my arm as I dash out of the office with the wall planner. I arrive her office some minutes later, I proceed to enter the moment she asked me in.

"Ma'am, I've the files you asked me to get here with me."

"Good, can I have them?" She says with outstretched arms. I hand her the folder and she briefly goes through it before sitting the folder on the table. "Have a sit...Dylan."

I get seated in front oh her desk, trying to suppress my laughter.

"I like how you're working today, I never thought you could be so professional, thus far....you've been good and I'm proud of you, son."

"Thanks mom, you're-." She interrupts me with a cough.

"Be professional, Dylan."

"But you said 'son' ?" I say and she gives me this judgy look.

"Fine, thanks ma'am." I say.

Mom and I talk about some business stuffs before I exit her office.

I take out my phone to text Stacey but then I call her instead.

"Hey!" She says.

"Yeah, hey....uh.... how are you?" I ask.

"Oh fine, I got the job today and started work right away, it was fun and a bit stressful, now about you?"

"I'm fine. I just left my moms'...sorry, my bosss' office. Um, I wanted to know if we could go on a date tonight." I say.

"Sure, just text me the time and location." She says and ends the call.

"7pm....Lorenzo's." I text and send it to her.
