Maddie payed the woman at the cash register as she walked out of the restaurant with a takeaway plate in her hand.
Everytime she needed company, she would take food to her aunt Brenda who worked as a nurse in the hospital, the woman must be very busy and might not have had anything to eat yet.
She got into her car driving straight to Brookeville's Memorial Hospital.
On her arrival, she parked her car in the parking lot as she headed towards the main entrance of the vast building. As luck may have it, she found her aunt talking to someone in the reception area, he was a young man who was exceptionally good looking.
Her aunt was the first to sight her as she smiled at her asking her to wait a while with her eyes. Maddie smiled back and helped herself to a seat at the waiting area.
It didn't take minutes as her aunt started walking over to her. On sighting the takeaway in Maddie's hand, her dark eyes lit up with a smile.
Maddie got up putting the food bag aside as she gave Brenda a nice hug which Brenda returned happily. Brenda was a dark skinned woman with black curly hair which she tied in a bun as usual, her slim figure made her look young and very attractive.
She was really beautiful with her sweet looking face and her calm aura. " you brought me food", she exclaimed as she made Maddie sit down while sitting as well on the waiting chairs.
" I was starting to think I wouldn't have the chance to eat again today", she said smiling as she opened up the takeaway. Maddie stared at the reception area which seemed to be packed with people moving back and forth.
" The hospital seems busier than in normal days", she commented watching Brookeville's Deputy officer and one of the senior doctor's in the hospital standing at a corner discussing.
Brenda followed Maddie's line of sight and saw that she was staring at the Deputy police officer and one senior Doctor whilst they wore serious expressions on their faces as they conversed.
" Well a case came in today", Brenda whispered across to Maddie as she ate silently. Maddie removed her brown eyes from the two interesting people as she stared at her aunt.
" Some teacher at your school was said to have been found dead, I wasn't the one to record his information so I barely know much", Brenda said while Maddie nodded in understanding.
Her aunt Brenda worked as a nurse at the hospital so it wasn't a shock if the woman knew a bit of the things going on.
" The police department thinks it was a blatant murder because it seemed as though the man was pushed off but then there's no proof to make their claim valid so they are going to conclude that he committed suicide", Brenda said as she ate more of her food.
Maddie's eyes lingered on her aunt for a while before going to stare at the Deputy who had started walking in her direction. His dark brown uniform made him look exceptionally daunting and the rifle next to his pocket made her breath hitch.
She straightened up as the man walked passed her and she couldn't help but sigh in relief.
" What? Are you scared of the Deputy?", Her aunt asked while helping herself to a napkin to wipe her mouth.
" Sort of", was Maddie's only reply as she remembered that Vanessa's case was also known to the police department.
" Thanks for the dinner Madisyn", Her aunt said standing up. Her pale blue uniform made her look outstanding. She dipped her hands in her uniform pocket as she brought out a small folded piece of paper.
" Hand this to Mrs Smith for me, she complained she was having a fever and needed a prescription. This contains a list of drugs she should get", Brenda said handing Maddie the paper. Mrs Smith was their neighbor who owned a dog and was quite forgetful.
Maddie stood up as well and took the paper from Brenda's hands. Brenda gave her one last hug before hurrying to the elevator in the reception area obviously heading back to work.
Maddie turned away as she saw the elevator door close with Brenda inside. She walked out of the hospital heading straight to the parking lot.
Once inside her car, she breathed in. Everything about the History teacher's situation barely mattered to her as she tried to solve her own case of Vanessa's bracelet.
Though the man wasn't a bubbly person making history not so fun to learn, she still wished his soul would rest in peace.
She had been distracted in his class because of the bracelet otherwise she would have also been busy doing something under her desk.
He was only boring while he taught but cheerful when he was speaking to someone. Or maybe she just hated history as a whole.
★★★★
Liam drank more of his favorite wine as he thought about all he had done today. Not out of remorse, but he was actually trying to analyze something.
Nothing tastes better than having his favorite drink drawn specially by him out of the body of puny humans but he had to live by this stupid blood bags which he had stolen from the hospital.
Only for a while at least, once he gets the town's sheriff off him, then he would go back to his favorite job, hunting for humans and collecting their birthday presents for him which was their blood.
He sat down in front of the mini bar in his huge mansion pouring himself more blood wine. He set his lips in a thin line when he felt someone's presence in his mansion also noting that it wasn't the girl he had sent on an errand just a while ago.
" Someone couldn't hide their victims properly", His brother mocked on getting to Liam's mini bar after parading the huge mansion.
" You know me, I care less, but it won't take long before my life is back to normal again so stop being happy for nothing little brother", Liam advised smiling as he stared at his little brother while emptying the liquid in the glass cup in one go.
It was obvious his brother was indirectly telling him that he was only drinking blood from a bottle because he couldn't do well in keeping the town's sheriff off his trail.
Unlike Liam who kept his hair combed back neatly, Scott, his little brother, had his dark brown hair in a quiff style and right now they looked quite ruffled making him look very attractive.
" Did we switch roles?", asked Liam observing the way his brother had ruffled his hair just like his previous hairstyle before he made up his mind to play the role of Scott.
" Well someone was getting too acquainted with the role of being me, I had to be you but not become you", Scott said with a smile.
He ruffled his dark brown hair with his hand showing his brother that two can play this game. Walking over to Liam, he grabbed the blood wine's bottle and drank straight from it.
Scott was also dressed like Liam. He wore a black rugged jeans with a black long sleeved shirt which had the inscription, 'Brothers are the Best ' in the centre.
" Neat freak, I didn't think you had it in you to play silly games, I guess the stupid Scott still lives inside of the mature one", Liam said smiling but it only made Scott roll his eyes at him in a ' what are you saying kind of way'
" What do you want with the box Liam?", Scott asked, the annoyance in his voice not hidden as he hadn't expected his brother to know about the box, it was something that wasn't even supposed to draw Liam's attention.
" Same reason everyone wants the box little brother", Liam answered swiftly, not minding the way Scott narrowed his eyes at him.
" No one else wants the box, not many people even know about the box", Scott exclaimed to his brother's reply.
Liam only shrugged, he wasn't handing that box over to Scott anytime soon, it was so obvious his brother knew the importance of that box just like he did.
" You rarely come see me little brother so drink blood and be merry", Liam said handing another bottle of blood to Scott who took it angrily and dropped it back on the table.
He followed Liam who was heading outside of the mansion. Once they reached outside, the dark scenery of the house changed into bright light.
Liam's mansion wasn't surrounded by guards or gates or anything in comparison to mansions of the modern eras, his was in the middle of the forest, were the only things surrounding him was trees and loneliness.
Scott didn't live with him and he didn't also want Liam to live alone but they made their decision decades ago and nothing could change it now.
Walking away from the conversation, so much like Liam, Scott thought within as he watched Liam open the door to his Black Mercedes. The dude turned to the side to wink at him before getting into the car and shutting the door.
" What do you want with the box Liam?", he asked himself silently as he watched his brother's car drive away leaving him in the lonely area.
